it's amazing how Chris(their guitarist) can pull off riffs and solos so signature-ey after doing a lot of death metal with Shadow of Intent's last album
hes on another level, i wish currents would use his badass cleans too haha
I think a main difference is 7 string vs 6 string between the 2 bands.
Now THIS is the Currents I wanted to hear! 100% agree on your comments about the last single.
As for your thoughts on "Poverty of Self", I'm certain they made that song to be a direct, anger driven banger - most likely written for the crowd at a show. Not all songs are written to be complex , sometimes less is more. This song in particular does what it's meant to do, slam.

Literally my first thought as well! The intro and chorus are straight out of hard rock to me. Definitely gave me BB vibes for sure in the best ways (huge fan of theirs)

This song is definitely my favourite of the four singles so far but I enjoyed the other three as well. The riffs are mental in this one and so are the lyrics. My man Brian went off at people 😂

I would definitely recommend listening to Ghosts by Overthrone, I heard it recently and was very impressed. Curious to hear what you think about it 🤟🏻

I liked Monsters a lot. Tbh its probably my least favorite of the 4 releases. But that's the thing with Currents, even the least favorites are bangers. I personally enjoyed A Flag To Wave a lot, maybe because of the message it brings along, which i find super relatable to. Favorite is by far Poverty of Self. Those lows are just disgusting.

Hi man! Very good song. I don't like very much clean vocals, but in this song the chorus is awesome. I would like to suggest you Crystal Lake, a japanese band with very interesting songs and vídeos. If you don't know them, I think you'd enjoy their metalcore. You could listen Omega, Devilcry and Hail to the Fire.
One does not mention Crystal Lake without mentioning Aeon

The track is a little bit generic for Currents, sounds like Northlane, The Place I Feel Safest and the EP were amazing albums so i am stoked, my favorite single is Second Skin because that track have The Place I Feel Safest vibes

I deffo see why Chris Wiseman said this is going to be their most successful song to date, but I‘m honestly kinda disappointed. Maybe I‘m just expecting too much given that they are my favorite band, but the track just seems so boring to me. The chorus is admittadly very catchy but I can‘t stand the „wohoho“, that‘s something I‘d expect in a Skillet track or something but not Currents lol. That being said I‘m sure the record will be awesome and June seriously can‘t come early enough
Kind of agree. The riffs were nice, but somehow the song didn't blast me away, which i come to exect by currents these days. Perhaps the biggest thing was lack of intesety on this one. I am sure we will get some more bangers on the album tho, loved the rest of the singles.
I can see what you're saying, I've been reading up a lot on the album as it seems you may have as well. If I remember in that radio interview with Wiseman, it seems like they've released all the songs that aren't "the best" so far, advised by Sharptone. However, I'm open to the experimental stuff, like in this song with the "Wohoho", I don't really mind it; if it gains Currents popularity. I guess they're just seeing what they can push or make? They're still an extremely young band with so much talent in there. I wouldn't put anything past this new album just yet, we got 6/7 songs left & from what I've heard there's a lot of interesting stuff being said, especially about the final 2 tracks.
