I was legit considering asking for a reaction to this song on one of your previous videos, should know by now that you got our backs haha. I have to say i see where you are coming from, but i found this song to just become better and better with each listen (specially in regards to the Corus). Currents style of breakdowns and also their Coruses have definately changed since TPIFS, but i loved every step they have taken since then. After the new Polaris Album this is probably the most excitement i have for a band to release their new record. Thanks for your review, greetings go out to your way and stay healthy!
IMO.. Second skin is their best single so far.. Poverty of self and this one lacks crisp and spice. I don't expect just br00tality from currents. I think they should add some "delusion" elements to it.
Not a Currents fan and it’s one of the only songs I’ve heard from them. That being said, I thought it was decent. I mainly just hate how low tuned the guitars are. I feel all of the really modern bands just tune to Drop G or F and think they’re heavy af, where as a Drop D riff sounds heavier to me. Sorry for rambling.
Maverick McFarlane personally I think it depends on how everything else, vocals, base, and drums compliment the tuning, but that’s just my opinion. Still a fair point man
My thoughts exactly man. I don’t know if the new album will top “I Let the Devil In”.... That EP slapped from start to finish. Not saying that I haven’t enjoyed the new singles.. just not as much as the EP
Idk if you listen to Heaven Shall Burn, a german metalband that recently released a new album. Übermacht could be a nice song to listen to I already commented this on your Trivium reaction, just repeated this here in case you didn't see it :)
Deffo their best chorus so far, compared to TPIFS they improved their chorusgame so much Edit: „It‘s an ok chorus I guess“ lol. Crazy, normally I‘m really on the same boat as you. The breakdown on the other hand is super disappointing for Currents‘ standard imo. And I definitely get what you‘re saying about the singles so far, Poverty of Self and A Flag To Wave kinda lack the crazy riffing and gutwrenching atmosphere that made TPIFS such an outstanding record, only Second Skin really gave me that „yes this is what Currents is about“ feeling. They are great songs nevertheless and both really grew on me (jesus christ how the fuck do you format comments on phone)
Good comment, i do think tho that if they would just continue with the same exact style of those crazy riffs (which i love don't get me wrong) it would get quite repetetive, which is probably why i really enjoy everything they have released in the last couple of months. I still get these "oh shit, its Currents" vibes but it still feels refreshing, new and most importantly, unpredictable. Can't wait to hear what else they got in store for us :)
