  • In this Physics video in Hindi we explained mass defect, binding energy and binding energy per nucleon for class 12.
    When some nucleons combine to create a nucleus, the mass of the nucleus becomes less than the sum of the individual masses of the the nucleons. This difference in mass is known as the mass defect of that nucleus.
    The Equivalent energy of the mass defect is the binding energy.
    And the ratio of the binding energy to the number of nucleons in the nucleus is called the mass defect per nucleon.

    In Nuclear fission When the neutron hits the nucleus of u-235 some particle's(either one of proton's or neutron's mass in u-235 nucleus is bieng converted to energy right??)But the question is is it one of proton in u-235 nucleus or one of neutron in u-235 nucleus???

      By plotting B.E/ nucleon vs A we can make conclusion such as nickel has the highest value

    if binding energy is released because mass is decreased then why do we say that energy is released because potential energy of nucleons decrease because of nuclear attractive forces? these are contradictory
