I love this movie. The law school scenes (including professors hitting on students) are all quite realistic while the court stuff is completely ridiculous, but fun. And, yes, lots of stereotypes, but the movie is not mean-spirited. Still fun after all these years. The DVD commentary and behind the scenes stuff is interesting.

The idea of going from fashion to law seems far fetched on the surface, but the fact is there are sooo many facets of the law that really all areas of expertise can be applied and are totally necessary for specific types of cases.

A law channel I watch did a review on the film said the same thing about her degree. He pointed out that it wasn't far fetched at all to admit a fashion student to law school. They are looking for people with diverse backgrounds.

2:16 From what I understand you can't become a Senator by the time you're 30, although(spoiler alert)it turns out Warner flunked the Lsats the first time and his dad had to pull some strings so we shouldn't be surprised he's a bonehead.
11:47 Keep in mind, 'Pooh Bear' was also known as a "bear of very little brain" which is probably how Warner sees Elle, though the fact that he calls Vivian that as well says alot.
31:26 If Chutney had said instead that she: Went to the gym, went home to take a shower to wash her hair, 'then' went out and got a perm, it mightve been plausible, but since she insisted she was washing her hair...(ironically she played Velma in the Scooby Doo movies)
There's a song in the musical that sounds a lot like 'Part of Your World' which makes sense cos in a way 'Legally Blonde' is like the Little Mermaid with a few things twisted around.

Like now it isn't a huge story to hear a celebrity had liposuction and people think that, well if I had money I would get a liposuction too. But back then it was a bigger deal. If she went to jail for murder, her business (exercise videos, etc) could continue to make money and may increase in popularity because of the murder scandal. In the end, I think that she didn't want the women who looked up to her to lose weight to feel discouraged. Female empowerment was something that she was very passionate about.
Also I think that it is important to look at how Vivian was treated during the internship. She was getting people coffees and doing more workload than anyone else. Not necessarily because she is hard working but because that is what the professor told her to do. It shows that the professor think women are either his play thing or his maid/secretary. I think that is why Vivian is so upset when she sees what happened between Elle and the professor. She has been working overtime while Elle has not been expected to do as much because she is the "eye candy". I can also only imagine the things Warner says to her as he is not known to be encouraging or supportive. I really feel for Vivian. Obviously she was catty and nasty at times so I was happy to see her change.

Thumb Up #696! 👍 You're welcome, and thank you! 😊
Notes: I saw the notification for "The Little Mermaid" but then I noticed that I hadn't viewed this one yet, so now I have. 😊
Whoa! I haven't seen this movie since it was new?! I have the DVD, too, but I was saving it for a movie night watch party with friends. Ditto for the sequel! I don't recall if it contradicts the texts that Storm talked about or upheld them. 🤔 But since there is a sequel, that's probably what they were saving the story elements for that you wanted to see.
I didn't have Chihuahuas yet when the movie came out, but now I'm wondering if they would enjoy Bruiser and the other dog? 🤔
How would "Sydney Bristow" react to her father hitting on Elle?! Does it make you happy that he, well, never mind. "Titanic" came out first. 😁
I think the makers of the "Legally Blonde" franchise must have seen "Murphy Brown" first. Murphy herself is a blonde, but she was not like Faith Ford's blonde character. "Corky Sherwood" was more like "Elle" and Murphy would say lines like, "The blonde leading the blonde!" and "Is she legally blonde?" 😂
Side Note: The "United States Bureau of Standards" if I recall that name right, actually does use a portrait of Marilyn Monroe to define their legal meaning of "blonde" though not "blond" as that is the masculine term. Both words are French, by the way.
Since this movie came out I've seen "Two and a Half Men" and "2 Broke Girls". Holland Taylor has since came out, but in her sitcom "Evelyn Harper" was with women too during the last season or two.
Jennifer Coolidge! I had forgotten that she's in this movie! She looks different than she does in the "American Pie" movies too. Now I realize how much time has passed! 😮
Reese! From law student to state trooper! I saw her in that movie too, and she still looks 😍!
But... My poor Selma Blair. 😢
Edit: Oops! Whether it was conscious or not, they had "Elle Woods" do what "Perry Mason" is famous for when she had people confess like that! 😉

Vivian was never a villain and had every right to treat Elle like she did for the first half of the movie, I'll die on this hill. The movie had to make Warner an over the top smarmy douchebag ass to make look Elle look good in comparison but just looking at Elle she acted like a stalker ex weaseling her way back into her ex's life after he broke up with her and moved on. Vivian correctly pegged Elle as a threat to her relationship who wasn't even interested in law, she had every right to not let her join the study group and Vivian did not owe Elle any grace or kind words while she was clearly only trying too get Warner.

    • @heidos7
      @heidos7 24 дня назад

That's.... an interesting take. Vivian was maybe not a villain but she was a bitch when Elle had literally done NOTHING to her. If Vivian had been secure in her relationship she wouldn't have been threatened by Elle. It's also clear she looked down on her and stereotyped her as the "dumb blonde" like everybody else. I love that she came around and they became friends but let's not pretend like she wasn't a horrible person throughout most of the movie. And so was Warner but he didn't see anything wrong with his behaviour even by the end.
