That's where the "...But Better" part of the video comes in! :-) Yeah, I changed that up, it was more fun to make the discovery than just knowing about it. I actually had to doctor the Roll20 map to NOT show Camp Vengeance at the start. That's the great thing about D&D, we all start with the same book but we can take it anywhere we want. Thanks for the comment, I hope you like the rest of the videos.
Once again, you have saved an encounter for me. I was trying to figure out what to do with Camp Vengeance and was drawing a total blank. Now i can really push that horror element. THANKS
great ideas, i almost wanted to skip camp v. in my campagne, since i thought it was a pretty boring place. guess its back on the menu now XD Nice editing work with the minis as well. Looking forward to the next video, K.C. Rock on! Also you have yourself a new bayloaf 4 fan \m/
Yeah, Camp Vengeance is pretty boring in the book. It was fun running the 'last stand' session but, even more importantly, it was such a boon for the party to have a resting place in the wilderness in the sessions after. As a little preview, we'll be talking Trickster Gods next then another area that is super boring in the book, Needles Bones. Watch for'em and rock on!
@@vicioustalkery True that, although i won't be that mean to my party and will allow long rests in the jungle. Given that one player is on the watch at night, and gets one level of exhaustion the next day. So as long as there is no random encounter they will be fine ;) Don't you worry, i won't miss any of your vids, they're just to good!
I like the idea of the overnight sentry getting a level of exhaustion. That's a great way to simulate the dangers of camping in the wilderness. The jungle crawl is basically a gigantic dungeon crawl and keeping resources limited and comfort minimal gives it the feel of a dangerous expedition. It makes player think hard about long treks in the jungle and chose their paths wisely. Chult is an unforgiving place, it's important to remind them of that always. Have so much fun!
This has been super helpful! I’m excited to see what come next from this channel! I’m running ToA now, and my players have just arrived in Port Nyanzaru after a quick prologue.
I'm so glad! It's such a fun campaign, you're gonna love it! You'll have to let me know if you end up using anything I talk about here and how it worked for you. I do have some Port Nyanzaru ideas, maybe I'll move up that video. Here are a few quick hints 1) There are SO many things in town, so many factions. Don't feel like you need to to everything. 2) Think up some fun arena fights to do in the coliseum. 3) Don't overlook the Chult Rumors under the Gathering Information section, sprinkle things in. 4) There's nothing like a good ol' fashioned zombie attack. Have fun! Keep me updated.
5) players love the dinosaur races. Read the rules a dozen times or so and maybe do a few mock races to get ready. It's fun but you've gotta know the rules. Rock on.
@@vicioustalkery Thank you so much! I do have some alternative rules for the race planned, and I’ve also added some locations to Nyanzaru. My favorite location I’ve added is called The Laughing Monkey, which is a restaurant over by the Red Bazaar. Players can buy all kinds of food and tej here, and there’s a chance to meet Jobal, who loves the restaurant very much.
I'm so glad you liked it! It was a highlight of our campaign. Let me know how it goes and how your players liked it. I hope you find some of my other videos helpful too. Chult is such an amazing place!
They were level 3 and advanced to level 4 by the end of the session. I just ran this for my son and his friends and same thing, Level 3 to start, Level 4 when they were done. I've got a feeling that everything that leads to Camp Vengeance flows pretty logically, from here there are so many possibilities. No idea where they'll go from here. Have fun!
The fall of Camp Righteous is supposed to be common knowlege, its even on the starting player map.

What level were your players by the time they reached Camp Vengeance?
