    Let’s face it: most eLearning just plain sucks! The sad reality is that most eLearning courses require learners to sit through a disappointing experience, where information is poorly organized, the content isn’t relevant, and the interactions seem contrived and without purpose. This is compounded even more when the slideshow-like presentation is interrupted with several poorly written quiz questions and cheesy animations to make it all seem “fun.”
    But here's the good news: your eLearning doesn't have to suck!
    So, in this How-To Workshop, I'll show you the reasons why most eLearning fails and the components that contribute to bad eLearning design. You will also explore how bad eLearning design can negatively affect the learning experience. And finally, this session will walk you through several practical methods you can immediately apply to fix your bad eLearning courses.

    Some eLearning suck or fail because the stakeholders weren't clear on what success looks like and what milestones are expected. You're too humble, Tim.

    Spaced learning is so amazing! I’ve heard you addressing these topics before, but now I’m being able to apply them to real projects I currently have. And you’re always so incredibly inspiring, Tim! I just love how you put things together and share them with us. Thank you!

    @Tim Slade... this is gold 😍Still can't believe you are doing this for free. All your videos are amazing ❤ I am learning and enjoying at the same time. I just don't have enough adjectives to describe how good you are at what you do (especially for someone like me who is just starting to learn ID). Thank you for sharing your knowledge : ) So incredibly helpful 😊

    One thing I have just been taught to help find the cause of a problem, and I plan to use it a lot. The 5 whys. When a stakeholder comes and asks to retrain someone as their performance has dropped. Use the 5 whys to find the exact reason for performance drop. If they can't give a suitable answer as you dig with the 5 whys, ask them to come back. It's usually down to poor management

      @@elearningacdmy You explain everything in an objective, simple but grounded way, with very useful examples. I already knew most of the theories and principles you've talked about, but the way you put everything together was awesome. I learned so much, and loved the idea of learning as a process, not an event, as an ecosystem and the "plan" for building a learning experience. Thank you, this will help me.

      @@daliaantunes1303 Thanks! Yeah...the thing I always tell people is that there's really nothing revolutionary about what I share...but sometimes we need the reminder of going back to the basics.

    Do any of you work 8n a company, where the SMEs and stakeholders run to training when the performance of their employees declines, only to say that people haven't been trained correctly all this time. Even when the employees have been top performers in the past

    May I ask why current eLeraners and Instructional Designers are so critical of educators jumping into this field if many fell into it themselves, sometimes without a background in education and learning at all?

    • @elearningacdmy
      @elearningacdmy  2 года назад +3

      Honestly, I'm not sure! I think there's a bit of a bias for some folks, who don't see a connection between what teachers do and what instructional designers do. Regardless, my best advice is to ignore those folks who are being critical, and keep working towards your goals!

    "Designing Performance-Based eLearning Interactions" were so simple yet so engaging for learners. A BIG THANK YOU for such great ideas Tim.😊😊

    So many courses that do not follow adult learning principles because the stakeholders think it's a waste of time and because they want to go straight into the meat. The outcome becomes bullet points on a power point. Makes me want to die!!!
