Hey, DC's origin stories do tend to be confusing and convoluted.

Earth 2 Dick Greyson was the US Ambassador to South Africa for a time. During which the nation never suffered from apartheid. Kinda interested in your take of Helena from the Nu52 Earth-2 series.
I love Helena Wayne and I think the Bertinelli version is a joke, created by the same guy who created Helena Wayne earlier. He betrayed his Helena Wayne creation for Bertinelli. So sad.
About Robin in Madagascar: if memory serves, Dick Grayson was the US ambassador to South Africa around this time, so he may well have been off doing diplomacy.
Helena Wayne is a brillaint concept. Consider this problem: you want Batman to have a successor, another Batman to take over after the original. How do you compete with Bruce Wayne? Kind of by definition, he is the best Batman possible, so either the new Batman will be a mook by comparison, or you need to introduce failings in Bruce Wayne's Batman. Making a new Batman is a losing proposition. So instead, create a new character that borrows from Batman and also from someone else of his general caliber, so that the new character won't lend themselves to a bats-to-bats comparison. Yeah, Helena Wayne is the best Huntress. I like her temperament as depicted in pre-Crisis days. I also liked now nu52 Helena Wayne had a brief rapport with Damien Wayne.
Some of my earliest memories are reading pre-crisis DC books (in particular old Supergirl & Brave & The Bold comics) but I won’t lie, my true love for DC came many years later. I think the Huntress as a character has grown over the years, making both Bertanelli & Wayne into vastly unique creations. I love’em both!!
"I'm just a pleb from earth prime" best sentence heard in recent memory. also that first huntress suit was incredible. most heroes have an embarrassing first costume.
I love the fact that this comic just assumes that Selina and Bruce are still capable of their previous super-antics after years in retirement... I mean, Silky's reason for tapping Selina for the job presumably revolved around her old abilities as Catwoman, or he'd just get some other random criminal partner rather than going to the trouble of blackmailing Bruce Wayne's wife. What does Catwoman have that your average Joe Shmoe doesn't? Her acrobatics and athleticism... except she hasn't used those skills in _years._ Same goes for Batman - he's been living the happy family life, and probably hasn't been bothered to keep up with his exercises either (at least, not to his peak crimefighting standards). Both Selina and Bruce would both be seriously rusty by the time Silky's caper came to a head... you'd have Catwoman tripping over herself trying to backflip through laser grids or getting tangled up in her rappelling ropes, and Batman breaking an ankle landing from the always-convenient skylight-smashing entrance! Plus, he'd be out of practice with the Dark Knight schtick as well... Just imagine - he starts off all dark and husky, announcing himself before seeing his wife: *_"I am the night, I am justi_* - - oh, hi honey - what are you doing here? And why do you have the costume on - is it Thursday night already? _[KRAK!]_ Oh God, my ankle hurts!"
I loved the Earth-Two stories. The JSA is one of my favorite superhero teams and back in the 70s, the annual JLA/JSA team-ups were the best part of the comic book year. I was in my comic buying prime and I had both DC Super-Stars #17 and All-Star Comics #69. And it's easy to explain the plot holes in the Huntress's origin. Why? Because, comics. If it's DC Golden Age, I'm all for it. BTW, the artistic creator of Helena Wayne is Joe Staton, not Stanton.
@tygrkhat40... me too. Me too. Love JSA stories, loved the 70’s stories. And you are right... we didn’t question plot holes... we just accepted them. The Golden age was one of the best... Miss earth 2 heroes.
I remember reading this comic back in the day. I liked how they finally let Beuce and Slena get married. I thought it was a shame, that they killed Selena off. I think it would have been better, if they had kidnapped Selena, and Bruce and Helena went to her rescue.
Helena Wayne has been one of my favourite DC characters pretty much since I knew what a fandom *was* and I wish we got to see more of her This origin story works well enough - my main gripe with it is that the *way* Selina dies here makes her arc on Earth-2 feel unsatisfying And I have some ideas for what a version of her from a possible future of [whatever the main DC Earth is called these days] would be like, thought that Helena would be different from this one in a lot of ways
I liked the pre-Crisis multiverse, and I kind of wish we had it back. But I am forced to concede a problem: while it's nice to have a pre-Crisis Earth-Two, the fact that it's not the main earth means we are not going to get many comics about it. So if I want to see more of, say, Jay Garrick, it's not going to happen very much unless he's on the same earth as the main DC heroes. This is to say nothing of the possibilities of Earth-One and Earth-Two heroes collaborating; one of the best uses of Wildcat was making him part of Catwoman's supporting cast. Would not have been possible while they were on different earths.
I always liked her when she appeared in the JLA/JSA team-ups. Later, after Roy Thomas started All Star Squadron, I really started hunting down all the Earth 2 stories done in the modern era.
I personally loved "Earth 2" comics, because it had far more legacy characters, which made it feel like the golden age heroes could actually have lives and age out of superheroing. I say "feels like," because let's face it: If one of the legacy characters ever got "big" (Superman or Batman big), DC would probably have eventually done the "four separate comic books dedicated to one single character" so that it would seem like they never slept, ate, had a 9-5 job or went to the bathroom (see: Batman, Superman, Spider-man, Wolverine, the X-Men, and any other popular property in the 1990s).

I love pre-crisis Earth-2. I love how grounded in real time they were. You can see character's lifes evolving in this pages.
I loved Earth 2, especially the older Batman and Superman. I looked forward to the JLA/JSA crossovers every year. I remember when they redesigned Robin's costume because the original one was ugly as hell.
If you do another Huntress vid, it would be kind of cool to get your take on how they altered Helena Wayne's origin for the short lived, didn't get a chance, Birds of Prey tv show. That show had potential. Lets throw Helena Kyle into the mix for fun lol
A perfect example of executive meddling misfire. Had good acters, but mucked about into oblivion. Actually had the closest to what my headcannon view of the characters' look in the brief flashback scene of Batgirl and Batman fighting the baddies. Look was about halfway between '60s Batman and the Tim Burton movie. May I say that Dina made a scrumptiously sexy Batgirl/ Oracle. Ashley Scott was also quite fine too, as was Rachael Skarsden (what a switch to "Alice" in CW Batwoman), even Mia Sara as a Harley Quinn.Quite nice as a blonde.
Honestly, just from a lore continuity perspective, Helena Wayne/Kyle just is a better vibe than Helena Bertenelli. Earth 2 Huntress adds more to the Batman mythos and simply has more story writing potential than _another_ vigilante, especially one that is, by her very nature, Batman adjacent. Unlike Batgirl and Batwoman, I feel Helena Wayne as Huntress could have been a breakout star that potentially could rival her parents. If they were to ever do another reboot, it would be worth potentially just pulling her and Power Girl from an alternate Earth Prime future timeline and having her just be this version of Helena Wayne. Future Selina could still die and that could destroy Future Bruce on a fundamental level. Maybe that makes him snap and become a dictator forcing her to stop him, maybe that crushes him completely and she has to assume the role to continue fighting crime. All in all, Bertenelli Huntress is and will always be the Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon, or Cassandra Cain of the Batfamily and there isn't really anything that can change that. While she'll always be tied to the Batfamily, it'll always be as an adjacent stepchild rather than an intrinsic aspect to it. Helena Wayne is arguably "Batroyalty" with a very visceral, tangible reason for being a vigilante that supersedes her younger brother's or even her parents'. #makehelenacannonagain
Because of the Convergence series, all pre-Crisis stories are canon again. It's just that Convergence was poorly done with a ton of bad characterizations and continuity goofs that it's been forgotten.
one thing I loved about the original E2 was the original characters aging and the next generations coming up. I started reading comics Pre-Crisis, and I enjoyed both worlds. Wasnt someone in the Bat Family elected to Senate or something?
The Huntress has always been one of my favorites from DC. Just like her dad and mom. It makes sense. I forget the show but there a cartoon version of the Justice League. It's a series. In one episode they made her The Question's girlfriend. I got a big kick out of that.
MY THOUGHTS & QUESTI. ABOUT THIS COMICBOOK STORY ABOUT A DIFFERENT VERSION HUNTRESS: So let me get this straight in some different dimensional realm Batman has a daughter, and not only that her hero title is (The HUNTEESS). An so I am guessing that Batman’s daughter aka (Helena Wayne) is possibly another alternate version out of all known versions of (The HUNTRESS). Okay, now I understand this is from a ComicBook story classic, and it is about (Helena Wayne) whose the daughter of BRUCE who exists within the dimensional realm labeled as EARTH-2, and what I get is within this dimensional realm (Bruce Wayne) & (Selina Kyle) not only fell so strongly in love with one another; But they also got married then later became mother, and father of a baby daughter of their own, and to add in this story it reveals that much later when the daughter grows up to I think age:17, or maybe at age:21 years old she reaches a point to decide to become a crime-fighter hero, and also to add she chooses the hero title of (The HUNTRESS) for herself to go by. Plus to add I now know that in this ComicBook story EARTH-2’s (BRUCE WAYNE) aka Batman decides to quit being Batman, and this is after his wife (SELINA WAYNE) aka CatWoman gets killed, and the reason why he quits is because he is so very sad for the loss of his beloved wife who he loved so very much. “Now I think it would be great to see a live-action version of this EARTH-2 version of (THE HUNTRESS) make her appearance someday on the ArrowVerse, and I can imagine how it might be possible like for instance it could be in a crossover event show series.”
Sasha is actually The Huntress from Earth 3 and she is just researching on how to get back home. I would have like a better origin for Helena Wayne as The Huntress, maybe she was a fan-girl of Batman and Catwoman and finding her father's tech and suits (as her parents do not tell her of their secret past lives) and Helena secretly goes out crime fighting while Batgirl and former Robin have mysteriously disappeared.
An added bonus is that Helena knows her father can no longer down the cowl and cap due to all his past injuries catching up to him and she puts on her costume to spare him from getting hurt.
Great job on this one Sasha. I'll always be more fond of the Helena Wayne version, but have enjoyed the character in all versions..... well maybe except the "Grayson" one!!
@Seb The ice man LOL I have the original stories in trade paperback form. Power Girl is also one of my favorite super heroes , that is why I prefer Helena Wayne.
Lol...Well I LOVE the Original DC Multiverse and any stories set on Earth 2, 3, 4, 6, A, B, D, S, and X are always welcomed. As for Huntress III (remember there were two separate versions of the Original Paula Brooks villainous Huntress on Earth 1 AND 2...see DC Super Stars #10.) I always loved her character and felt her origin in DSS # 17 was great. BTW. Earth 2 Robin I in the revival of All Star Comics in the 70s, it was established he actually worked for the United Nations.
You're correct sis, it's just a ,....thing. stories should grow, or rather mirror the environment that produces them. In the 70's we were all taught,(to be socialized) backgammon, Parcheesi, checkers, chess, a few card games, it was done to us, so we understand it's context, but 30-40+ years have passed, and many things have changed. Video games, MTV attention span, cable TV that never signs off; in comics: the anti-hero promotion, bad/good girl era, infinite crossovers with no lasting impact, more complex storyarcs, the run on loosely thought out list that I'm rambling on.........sorry about that. Modern readers have competition from many sources, and the writers must produce fare that edges itself ahead of this to make duckets, the bottom line. What flew and was perfectly acceptable in the 70's, is rather "late" today. Batman and Catwoman have morphed since then so how would Huntress not? Writers today should abandon predictable tropes altogether, she didn't even have to be from Gotham. Hey! Look what I did, a run on conversation, sorry dear sister. MAD LOVE woman. Perhaps I'll catch your next live stream and we can all discuss this in addition to the"real subject" of said stream. PEACE Miss Puzz......ooops, Sasha Wood!!!!!!!
I would love to see a story of the original earth 2 in modern times. There would be a generation or two of heroes we've missed by now. How would the current generation of heroes on earth 2 look. Who would they be?
So wild that you're covering the Huntress. My favorite battle rap podcast just discussed her super randomly just days ago. Ms. Fits first rap moniker was the Huntress, for all you Queen of the Ring fans. And she brought it up on Math Hoffas show, and incredulous googling ensued. I love it when fandoms cross paths.
Alt universe Selina: "Yeah so, theres this dude pitifully attempting to blackmail me so...we should do somethin' 'bout that" Bruce: *slaps nearby wall like JFK* *wall spins around revealing batsuit&catsuit* Bruce: *"Lock N Load"*
As someone who only knew of the Bertinelli version of the Huntress, I have to say I actually like the Helena Wayne version a little better. As an incredibly cynical person, I do enjoy the idea of at least one version of Batman being able to have the family he lost outside of the "Bat Family".
I do like Earth 2 (the original one). I grew up reading comics just at the time of the JLA-JSA annual crossovers. I also like multiple earths. I think they should go full Rick and Morty and make every retcon an alternate Earth. That way everyone’s favorite would still be around somewhere.
I always hoped that Helena Bertinelli’s backstory of born from an affair with another mob boss was Patches Malone, ie bruce undercover, to blend the two characters together
I prefer the Earth 2 Huntress. Despite how clunky this story is, I liked the sense of family and legacy she had. I liked her and grown up Robin carrying on, as a different Bat-team. Earth 1 just has her the daughter of some gangster we never heard of, and when that family is killed she kinda, sorta dresses up like a bat-family character. Earth 1 doesn't know what to do with her.
Helena Wayne my favorite Huntress. Wish DC would reprint the Mr. and Mrs. Superman stories especially since Bruce and Selina wedding is shown in SUPERMAN FAMILY #211.
I like this one but I think they could’ve just brought huntress over into the main dc universe allowing her to be Bruce’s and Cat woman’s daughter but from another dimension seeing her interact with Damian and the robins would’ve be cooler
The multiverse concept in comics allows so many different tellings of stories. It is truly an amazing time to be enjoying all of the comic media. The bat and the cat having a child is my personal favorite.
Sasha: "...I have so many questions..." Me watching the video: "She really does have questions. SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. They're really good questions, too."
I’m so glad I found your channel. You’re covering the comics of my youth. I bought this issue off the comic rack when I was 9. More terrifying-I bet I still have it...
I was technically around when these issues came out, but, didn't actually become aware of them until years later. I've been a fan of the Earth-2 version of the character ever since I first encountered her in the JLA/JSA team-up story-line Crisis on Earth-Prime, which ran through 3 issues of JLA (207, 208, 209) and 2 issues of All-Star Squadron (14, 15), and really liked the idea of her being the daughter of the E-2 Batman and Catwoman. The revamped version of the character is certainly fine and all, but, the E-2 version will always be more meaningful to me, probably because of the Legacy aspect of the character, which lent itself to some great character dynamics whenever she would encounter E-1 counterparts of people she knew, probably none more-impactful than every time she encountered the E-1 Batman after her own father was killed. The interaction with someone who was basically a 25-year-younger version of her father (whom she took to calling 'Uncle Bruce') led to some great stories, probably best among them was their team-up in Brave & the Bold #184 (which was only 2 issues after the E-1 Batman and the E-2 Robin, with the E-2 Batwoman, had a team-up, with Robin more than a bit resentful that he was being treated like a kid partner again when he was at least as old as E-1 Batman, if not older - in fact, some of that carried over to the E-1 duo and may have helped lay the ground work for having E-1 Robin become Nightwing - could be an interesting idea for a video itself), where it seems events on E-2 are going to repeat themselves on E-1, as Bruce has encountered circumstances that lead to him giving-up the Batman identity (of course, it didn't stick, but, having Helena deal with this near-repeat was a great story idea) There was also the time when she encountered the E-1 Catwoman, in Batman Family #17, and that definitely threw her for a loop, as this version of Selina Kyle was far-from reformed like her own mother (and, we get the added bonus of seeing Huntress get to work with both Batgirl and the E-1 Batwoman as part of the same case, really expanding the family roster aspect of the title) I would like to see more of this version of the character, but not at the expense of the main continuity version - no need to take away one person's favorite character for someone else's, certainly. And, with a multiverse, it doesn't have to happen that way. The readership is more than capable of keeping-up with the concept, so, there can be the mainline books, and then others outside of the main continuity, perhaps an anthology series like the old Adventure Comics, that could be called Tales From The Multiverse, or something like that, featuring 4 or 5 ongoing story-lines, including a version of E-2 with this version of the character. Not sure how big of a seller it would be, but, I know *I'd* buy it, especially if it's got solid writing behind it. And, with the JSA coming back after Doomsday Clock, plus their greater exposure on DCTV with the Stargirl series, maybe something could happen that does something new while harkening back to the old. At any rate, I really enjoyed the spotlight of this version of the character in your video - it really captured the great concept of the character, even if there were some speedbumps in logic from that time with regard to the origin story. They didn't derail the character, though, and, she's managed to stay around in one form or another for almost 45 years now, so, that's definitely staying power. Looking forward to future videos!
I read the original Huntress origin when I was a kid - I got it in a trade with some friends and I think I got it in 1979. At the time I loved Earth 2, the world where all the Golden Age characters lived on, and I read any comic I could find with an Earth 2 Justice League or any other story. In my mind, even as a kid, Earth 1 was supposed to be more like real life, and Earth 2 more over the top and cheesy. In that context, Huntress' origin completely fits in with a Golden Age, film noir, over the top, low on information high on pathos, comic book. It was a continuation of that world - a world where, like you said, Robin could find his own career without drama, where Catwoman never killed, and Batman could find love at least for a while. It's not camp and it's not gritty, It's romantic. It can't really be appreciated without accepting the Golden Age patina.
As always with Helena Wayne the concept is interesting, but the execution always felt lackluster and forced to me. I can appreciate this version of the character has a legacy, and for many the first is always the one that sticks in their mind. But yeah... Idk being totally unable to let go when this was ALWAYS an alternate universe character not a main universe one definitely seems strange to me. I do like the updated Earth 2 Helena, and it was interesting and at times compelling to learn more about the original history. But overall nah, Bertinelli all the way! (Except for that initial thing with them having her be raped. That's kinda needless edge for me, even if some feel it wasn't I just don't care to think about "little girl being raped" as part of the integral history of a character.)
If a tragic life leads to a superhero origin I must be well overdue for a cape fitting. I've been waiting decades for it now; maybe I should swap chess for backgammon- the riches would come in handy... As ever a thoroughly entertaining video. Informative, witty, funny and the best Batman voice besides Kevin Conroy, you are a real treasure of RUclips, Sasha. Please keep doing what you do.
The original Earth-2 was awesome. I was pissed when Crisis eliminated it. I agree that the Helena Wayne’s origin story seems patchy and thrown together. I never, in all my many decades of comic book reading knew how Selina was shot and killed until now. Bruce’s depiction as Gotham Police Commissioner is JSA stories of that era makes even more sense now.
I bought (and still own) that issue of DC Super Stars. I was a big JSA fan as a kid, and you reading the comic reminds me of when I read All Star Comics aloud with my dad, who remembered the Golden Age heroes from his youth!
Not really related to the video, but I just thought I'd pop in to say that this is my new favourite channel. I've just been going through your videos like crazy. You're very knowledgeable and you present the information in such an engaging, entertaining and easy-to-follow way; much better than a Wikipedia article.
"Dick strikes out on his own with no drama" Has there been a Nightwing story where him BECOMING Nightwing was incited because Bruce became a father and couldn't become Batman anymore? There's something in that idea. I can't put my finger on it exactly. But I dig it.
Loved this video. Two great quotes in this one, plus wondering if your dad is Batman because he plays backgammon. "This must be how Boost Gold feels all the time." Hilarious. "I used to think my life was a tragedy; now I realize it was an origin story." I'm not exaggerating when I say, that's actually profound. Perspective matters, and that's a pretty good one.
Helena Wayne died in the crisis of infinite earth comic series along with Dick Grayson .... When D.C wanted to get rid of unwanted characters ...☹️☹️☹️☹️
Sasha your correct that the writers did not make Salena the clever Lady we know her to be in most of her interpretations, 1st as you said she could have trusted Bruce to handle the situation, secondly being wed to a $Millionaire in those times($ Billionaire now ) could have just payed Silky what ever amount he expected to get from that “One Last Job”🤷🏾♂️. I think I would have gone with the more Barbara Gordon Batgirl type origin , by having Helena feeling she had a duty to become a hero & join Robin no matter what Bruce & Salena feelings on it
I was around at thetime, and was fine with the origin...yes,itwas full of holes, but I reacted to the cheesy, visceral aspects of it , and her costume's coolness (at the time) excused much.
Dear Mrs. (Ms.)? Casually Comics, I have so many questions about why writers believe that if Batman got married he'd not be traumatized angry Batman anymore. Love and marriage do not erase years of emotional damage. Especially if he marries Selina Kyle who is just as damaged as him! I love Helena Wayne, and I really wish writers would be more sophisticated about relationships. Tom King is too extreme in both directions. I just don't get it.
I prefer Helena Wayne over Bertinelli however; the origin was uninspiring. I agree with your take, the cliff notes version would have been better, just see the DC series Birds of a Prey.
I think it’s good to keep lots of continuities going with the different earths so if there’s a reboot you don’t like you still have your continuity to work from. If anything reboots should just do that and expand a new main earth while the old continuities are on different earths
I am a Mega Huge Sasha fan.......When she does her Batman Voice. I need more of Sasha telling it like it is with her Batman Voice. It's priceless and I am searching for more material. Can anyone point out any other videos of Sasha brilliantly doing her Batman Voice?

Green Arrow was trapped alone on an island... MIND BLOWN!
@tygrkhat40... me too. Me too.
I'm in the Helena Wayne Huntress camp personally. The new one never clicked with me.
Helena Wayne has been one of my favourite DC characters pretty much since I knew what a fandom *was* and I wish we got to see more of her
This origin story works well enough - my main gripe with it is that the *way* Selina dies here makes her arc on Earth-2 feel unsatisfying
And I have some ideas for what a version of her from a possible future of [whatever the main DC Earth is called these days] would be like, thought that Helena would be different from this one in a lot of ways
Barbara Gordon was elected to the House of Representatives. She had a couple of adventures in Washington. She only served one term.
The Huntress has always been one of my favorites from DC. Just like her dad and mom. It makes sense. I forget the show but there a cartoon version of the Justice League. It's a series. In one episode they made her The Question's girlfriend. I got a big kick out of that.
I definitely like this version over the Bertinelli version.
Me too😊👍
Same ,it is the beat versión of the character.
MY THOUGHTS & QUESTI. ABOUT THIS COMICBOOK STORY ABOUT A DIFFERENT VERSION HUNTRESS:
So let me get this straight in some different dimensional realm Batman has a daughter, and not only that her hero title is (The HUNTEESS).
God you're really making me want to read Silver Age comics xD
I really wished we could have Helena Wayne in actual continuity because that would be really awesome and tons of fun and not earth 2 doesn’t count
I've always loved Huntress's design. Kinda wish her Batman origin were used in more adaptations.
You know if this came out now people would call it fanficy and hate it. Also golden age Batman killed didn’t he? So should it be fine with Selina
Oh yeah any kid character automatically gets that label lol Yup he killed hard!
What was Robin doing in Madagascar I suspect it had something to do with penquin.
Great job on this one Sasha. I'll always be more fond of the Helena Wayne version, but have enjoyed the character in all versions..... well maybe except the "Grayson" one!!
I first read Helena Wayne in the new52 ‘worlds finest’ series, and I’m a big fan of how that origin was handled
I still prefer OG Helena Wayne HUntress. Born in 1970.
@Seb The ice man LOL I have the original stories in trade paperback form. Power Girl is also one of my favorite super heroes , that is why I prefer Helena Wayne.
What always made me go hmmm about this Huntress is the “forbidden “ attraction she and Dick Grayson had for each other when she grew up.
Loved the retelling it got on CWs Birds Of Prey tv show
Sasha: At about 03:18 in this video...
*_"BAT-GAMMON"_* 😉
Damn, those chin genes are strong in the Wayne family/earth 2.
Chins you could crack a walnut with lol world's finest.
Yep, makes you wonder if they're related to the Spanish Habsburgs
I would love to see a story of the original earth 2 in modern times. There would be a generation or two of heroes we've missed by now. How would the current generation of heroes on earth 2 look. Who would they be?
So wild that you're covering the Huntress. My favorite battle rap podcast just discussed her super randomly just days ago. Ms. Fits first rap moniker was the Huntress, for all you Queen of the Ring fans. And she brought it up on Math Hoffas show, and incredulous googling ensued. I love it when fandoms cross paths.
As a teacher, I am HERE for Teacher Mode Sasha.
Also, “COMMUNICATION.” Yes, please.
Alt universe
Selina: "Yeah so, theres this dude pitifully attempting to blackmail me so...we should do somethin' 'bout that"
Bruce: *slaps nearby wall like JFK* *wall spins around revealing batsuit&catsuit*
Bruce: *"Lock N Load"*
"if i hear it one more time I'll send him back there..." I mean that's what the writers keep doing so why should you be any different?
I prefer the Earth 2 Huntress.
Despite how clunky this story is, I liked the sense of family and legacy she had.
I liked her and grown up Robin carrying on, as a different Bat-team.
Earth 1 just has her the daughter of some gangster we never heard of, and when that family is killed she kinda, sorta dresses up like a bat-family character.
Earth 1 doesn't know what to do with her.
I actually have that Phantom Stranger/Deadman comic.
i love HELENA WAYNE i have 47 comics of her.
Helena Wayne my favorite Huntress.
Wish DC would reprint the Mr. and Mrs. Superman stories especially since Bruce and Selina wedding is shown
in SUPERMAN FAMILY #211.
I like this one but I think they could’ve just brought huntress over into the main dc universe allowing her to be Bruce’s and Cat woman’s daughter but from another dimension seeing her interact with Damian and the robins would’ve be cooler
She's most awesome with Power Girl!
My favorite Huntress
The multiverse concept in comics allows so many different tellings of stories. It is truly an amazing time to be enjoying all of the comic media. The bat and the cat having a child is my personal favorite.
Sasha: "...I have so many questions..."
Me watching the video: "She really does have questions. SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. They're really good questions, too."
I’m so glad I found your channel. You’re covering the comics of my youth. I bought this issue off the comic rack when I was 9. More terrifying-I bet I still have it...
I love Hellina wyan
The interaction with someone who was basically a 25-year-younger version of her father (whom she took to calling 'Uncle Bruce') led to some great stories, probably best among them was their team-up in Brave & the Bold #184 (which was only 2 issues after the E-1 Batman and the E-2 Robin, with the E-2 Batwoman, had a team-up, with Robin more than a bit resentful that he was being treated like a kid partner again when he was at least as old as E-1 Batman, if not older - in fact, some of that carried over to the E-1 duo and may have helped lay the ground work for having E-1 Robin become Nightwing - could be an interesting idea for a video itself), where it seems events on E-2 are going to repeat themselves on E-1, as Bruce has encountered circumstances that lead to him giving-up the Batman identity (of course, it didn't stick, but, having Helena deal with this near-repeat was a great story idea)
There was also the time when she encountered the E-1 Catwoman, in Batman Family #17, and that definitely threw her for a loop, as this version of Selina Kyle was far-from reformed like her own mother (and, we get the added bonus of seeing Huntress get to work with both Batgirl and the E-1 Batwoman as part of the same case, really expanding the family roster aspect of the title)
I would like to see more of this version of the character, but not at the expense of the main continuity version - no need to take away one person's favorite character for someone else's, certainly.
"Oh honey it's Photoshop."
😂I'm done
Hi, Sasha. I LOVE stories of Earth 2. I miss JSA & Infinity Inc. I hope you also do some vids about Earth 3.
Every time I get the notifications for your vids I get school girl giddy!!!
I prefer the modern Mobsters daughter Huntress, but the earth-2 version seems interesting.
I bought (and still own) that issue of DC Super Stars. I was a big JSA fan as a kid, and you reading the comic reminds me of when I read All Star Comics aloud with my dad, who remembered the Golden Age heroes from his youth!
Back when it was okay to make comics for earth one and earth two
Not really related to the video, but I just thought I'd pop in to say that this is my new favourite channel. I've just been going through your videos like crazy. You're very knowledgeable and you present the information in such an engaging, entertaining and easy-to-follow way; much better than a Wikipedia article.
"Dick strikes out on his own with no drama"
Has there been a Nightwing story where him BECOMING Nightwing was incited because Bruce became a father and couldn't become Batman anymore? There's something in that idea. I can't put my finger on it exactly. But I dig it.
brave and the bold perhaps?
Best comic channel ever
I would like to see huntress with stargirl also powergirl
Loved this video. Two great quotes in this one, plus wondering if your dad is Batman because he plays backgammon.
"This must be how Boost Gold feels all the time." Hilarious.
"I used to think my life was a tragedy; now I realize it was an origin story." I'm not exaggerating when I say, that's actually profound. Perspective matters, and that's a pretty good one.
Helena Wayne died in the crisis of infinite earth comic series along with Dick Grayson .... When D.C wanted to get rid of unwanted characters ...☹️☹️☹️☹️
No. They got rid of her because there was no place for her in the new world. Same goes for Dick.
Kole died along with them as well
I've got to say I do vastly prefer Helena bertinelli but I don't dislike Helena Wayne.
First intro was the show birds of prey and then the animated series, idk how that pertains but I loved her so much, any iteration
I think I would have gone with the more Barbara Gordon Batgirl type origin , by having Helena feeling she had a duty to become a hero & join Robin no matter what Bruce & Salena feelings on it
Good grief this girl is pretty. Knowledgeable, personable, just too much.
I was around at thetime, and was fine with the origin...yes,itwas full of holes, but I reacted to the cheesy, visceral aspects of it , and her costume's coolness (at the time) excused much.
I love these voice overs
Dear Mrs.
I like most of this classic ComicBook story about the EARTH-2 (THE HUNTRESS) & about the information that reveals her ORIGIN STORY.
I prefer Helena Wayne over Bertinelli however; the origin was uninspiring. I agree with your take, the cliff notes version would have been better, just see the DC series Birds of a Prey.
Great knowledge, wit and story telling ability, Sasha!
Thank you Sasha! You make my day everyday!
I think it’s good to keep lots of continuities going with the different earths so if there’s a reboot you don’t like you still have your continuity to work from. If anything reboots should just do that and expand a new main earth while the old continuities are on different earths
UI love earth II and the JSA
typo sorry.
oops e2
Just found your new channel. Loving it. Your humor is awesome.
By standard, the Pre Crisis Universe made more sense. Earth 2 was the best.
I am a Mega Huge Sasha fan.......When she does her Batman Voice. I need more of Sasha telling it like it is with her Batman Voice. It's priceless and I am searching for more material. Can anyone point out any other videos of Sasha brilliantly doing her Batman Voice?
