Excellent video as ever. If there's a substantial mid-gen 'pro' model (which they did with the 3DS and even DS after all), I could see them having an even longer life cycle. Still not sure that would translate to more sales but then the idea is always to grow the market.
I think the pc handhelds is a non-issue as hyped up as people make them sound you'd think they would've sold tens of millions of units but I think the sales number for all of them put together (steam deck, Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion GO) doesn't even reach 10 million units so not as popular as people make them out to be
I think even worst case scenario, the Switch 2 will still do good. I HIGHLY doubt it'll surpass the original in sales, but I definitely am confident that this console will make numbers, especially during its launch.
The switch 2 wont sell more than switch 1 because most of switch 1’s buyers are parents and they dont see the need to upgrade to a more powerful console because the og switch works fine
@@Thundercloud369look if they got the switch in 2017 and lets say they were 7-9 they would still be 14-17 and definetly not have the money for a 450 console themself unless they have saved up enough at that point (very unlikely) or are spoiled The switch 2 wont outsell the switch 1
For me, Nintendo HAS to focus back on power. They are so unbelievably behind on specs, and if they can beef up the switch 2, it may very well be the best console ever.
I'd _love_ to see the two Ns joining forces again and creating a full home console platform using Nvidia's then-current GPU architecture for the next generation. Super unlikely, I know, but whether or not it does happen, I'll be more than happy with "just a more powerful Switch" until then! =D
Yes, but maybe because of the new usb c slot on the top it’s possible, because Nintendo is creative with their names, that the 2 is the meaning for an external screen you can buy or something. They also could add Nintendo ds games to Nintendo switch online.
it will ABSOLUTELY not sell nearly as well as the switch 1. people have already made up their minds that "OhHhHhH nOtHiNg ChAnGeD" because it looks too similar. it will still be a great console though, just not for as wide as a market as switch 1.
If the Switch 2 sells 20 millions units in 2025, it would be 7 millions more units than the first year of the Switch, and with less months in 2025 than the year 2017 for Nintendo Switch (no way Switch 2 release in March), for me it's even possible that 20 millions can still produce difficulties to produce enough consoles for everyone. So if in one year, Switch 2 has 7 millions more copies (or even higher), and with a strong line up to begin the Switch 2, I can see a world where each year of Switch 2 is better than the equivalent year of the Switch. I still think Switch 2 will have his sales grow for at least 4 years in comparison of previous year, and decline after that, or even 5 years, for a cycle of 10 years instead of 8 like the Switch 1. I think a strong beginning line up, a good concept perfected, a good name very clear, good games everytime in the lifespan of Switch 2, no limitation (or less limitations) for graphical improvements and ports (+ DLSS, ray tracing, etc), no more Joycon Drift, this mouse feature and no more Nintendo first party game with lag, quality of life improvements like a second USB support in handheld mode, a good battery and good price, will be the PlayStation 2 of Nintendo. I'm confident that the Switch 1 will become the best console seller of all time, already 146 and it doesn't count holiday sales, so probably nearly 150. The Switch has just to have 5 more millions (or 10 if we count the 160 millions say for PS2), to outsell the PS2, I think the Switch will finish between 160 and 170 millions. I see 5 possibilities for the Switch 2 : 1) Pessimistic : Between 100 and 120 millions (yeah I don't see Switch 2 below that, even Xbox Series and PS5 at the end of the generation will probably be close of this, or even above, and I'm absolutely convinced Switch 2 can't make worse than that). 2) Probably : Between 120 and 150 (the most likely for me, very good success but not as much as Nintendo Switch). 3) Optimistic : Between 150 and 170 (not impossible, I can see the console outsells his sister, but it will need a very good gestion of the console). 4) Very optimistic : Between 170 and 200 (very unlikely, but hey, the Switch 1 was unlikely to have this success too, so why not, and there are more and more players with time so maybe). 5) Crazy : Beyond 200 millions (nearly impossible, but if one console has the aura to do that, it's the Switch 2. Switch 1 will NOT have that, PS5 and Xbox Series neither, and if Nintendo create Switch 3 after Switch 2, I think the gap between Switch 1 and 2 can't be replicated, for example PS2 is still beyond PS3/4/5, it would not have this waouh effect anymore). I have the feeling that the Switch 2 can create a new era, and set a new record, it's probably crazy but I think people are so hype about Switch 2 and his potential in games, that it will be the console to reach 200 millions, maybe MK9 (or other title for this MK) will be the title which beats the sells of Wii Sports, and have 100 millions of units ? Yeah it sounds crazy but if the console and the games are so incredible, maybe it's possible. So yeah I bet for an outsell, and to have 200 millions, crazy prediction but I totally think it's possible. After all, the PS2 has a huge lead over PS1, so I can see the huge lead over the current record be recreate nowadays, to create a huge difference between Switch/DS/PS2 sells tier, and potentially Switch 2 sells tier, on his own.
Hopefully the new switch can connect to other devices other than just the TV. I've always wanted to play my regular switch on my iMac or an iPad without having to buy something from the internet.
The current switch can run 60 fps, the NES could run at 60 fps, any system can do 60 fps and have 60 fps games it's up to the developer to optimize the game for the system not matter how powerful it is there are always gonna be 30 fps games
i think that a great way for the nintendo switch 2 to avoid a wii u situation is to allow streaming services like netflix and disney+, and they could even sell a bundle that for an extra £40, could come with a year of netflix. selling the system for base model £299 mk9 bundle £359 netflix bundle £349
And have the Switch 2 able to use internet through your phone service. That way it is always on the internet on the go and can watch Netflix at the airport.
Great video dude! Just subscribed 🐵 I think the wave of 3rd party support for this thing is going to be a bit of a game changer. Although I’m mainly pumped for the Nintendo first party titles!
Actually it won't outsell the original because the console is literally going to be the Atari Jaguar of Nintendo and why couldn't anyone ask for something new, I've been trying to ask for something new since 2017 and all we got was literally an addon
I don't think it's going to help sell it. I could go on and explain the factors but let's just say that once upon a time there was a thing such as the Wii U that came out but the thing is years before the Wii U came out there was the tablets from the iPads and they took over because the families wanted to buy the kids the year their iPads because the original Wii was you know just the little fat and it went away and next thing you know I think this switch to has the potential to be a spiritual Wii U in terms of not selling as much as the previous model and that's okay cuz I don't think they're going to be as a failure as the Wii U was but it's going to just make enough to break even maybe make a little bit more profit than they projected but it's not going to go overboard with the switch because the thing about it right now when the switch becomes the number one console ever sold think about a year or two before where people were barely new to this switch model I'm talking about the new consumers of 2022 through 2024 who bought the Nintendo switch those same people are going to buy this switch to cuz it's been too early for that for them so I don't think the switch to that very reason it's not going to outsell
Too much competition, With the original Switch, it waw the only relatively powerful mainstream handheld. Now we got rhe SteamDeck and other PC based handhelds, and possible competitors from PS and Xbox...

With how tech has seemingly been slowing down this past decade i would not be surprised if we're still playing our switch 2 or switch 2 pro in 2035
Buying new consoles every few years is expensive, so a long lifespan is fine by me
I think the pc handhelds is a non-issue as hyped up as people make them sound you'd think they would've sold tens of millions of units but I think the sales number for all of them put together (steam deck, Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion GO) doesn't even reach 10 million units so not as popular as people make them out to be
They are called fanboys.
Let alone the more new hanheld PCs enter the market the less sales out of all those handheld PCs..especially if Sony arrives with their own hybrid

It depends what the software is all about and what they have to show on April 2nd
A midlife switch 2 pro update could nail the coffin of the reported new psp and Xbox portable then as well.
