  • Golemo Ezero, or Large Lake, is one of two glacial lakes in Pelister National Park in Macedonia. It's located in a cirque at an altitude of 2,218 meters above sea level and is considered one of the largest glacial lakes in the country. The lake is 220 meters by 190 meters and 15 meters deep.
Big Lake is a popular destination for hiking and off-roading. The trail to the lake is marked and goes through open terrain and thick forest. It also has four fountains that use glacial stream water, so the water level changes with the seasons. The trail offers views of the Pelagonija valley, Jakupica massif, and Macedonia plains. Along the way, hikers can also pass by a small glacial lake that's warmer than Big Lake and is good for cooling off on hot days.
The hike to Big Lake is considered moderately difficult and can take 6-7 hours. The return trip takes the same route.
