Hey brother. Just picked up a low mile, one owner 09 blade. I see how you took off the left side engine/ front sproket cover. I believe it has to come off to switch to gp shift. Did you just remove the cover and replace with the custom sprocket cover? looks great. Would love to find one like it
I know it's been a long time, but I'm hoping for an answer. I bought a motorbike like this for my son, from 2009. Since it makes the same noise as yours, I mean the noise of the engine near the clutch, this sort of "whistle", I wanted to understand if it is a normal noise, or it means that something is wrong it goes. I understand that a clutch recall has been issued for these engines. This "whistle" means that the recall has been made, or not. Thanks for the reply. I write from Italy.
Actually, the whining noise means the recall was NOT done. The update apparently involves the clutch AND crankshaft. I didn't notice the noise till the recall window was over. Asked my motor Guru about it and he said it was not a threat for catastrophic failure. Hope this helps.
I have an 09 I bought last august and ride it regularly I put about 5000 miles on it in 4 months. I’ve read up on crankshaft noise and am indifferent if it’s something I should think about it or not.
I’ll note mine sounds exactly like the one in this video. That slight mechanical whine behind the exhaust note. Probably just unique characteristic of the bike itself ?
@@metlhdmensch1007 I bought one and it also has it, I did a lot of reading on it and think I agree with your tuner. it seems the crank primary drive gear distorts ever so slightly to make the noise but in most cases never turns into a catastrophic failure. I hope it doesn't atleast, I love these bikes.

It's a custom cover I made a small batch of back in the day. Unfortunately, long sold out

My tech says this is the sound related to the "Crank" issue. Nothing to worry about according to him.

Nope, mine started long after the warranty period.
My tuner said it's never catastrophic
