It's sounding pretty good. My philosophy is if it sounds good I'll use it! It's always about the sound according to Wakeman and Emerson! Maybe you found a goldmine of sound. I'm enjoying hearing you play!
@@thegrizzledmusician , I created a patch editor for this fantastic synth. The name of software is JV-PatchEd. sourceforge.net/projects/jv-patched/ I hope you enjoy!
@@lecleto I actually came across it a day or two after getting the module! I haven’t had a lot of time to dig into it yet but the little time I had with it I was impressed. I look forward to working with it more. I am a software developer by day so I appreciate the time and effort that went into it!
It sounds amazing, and if I'm not mistaken it is even not using any effects except of standard Reverb/ Chorus. Roland had quite good PCM synth engine with structures and LFOs, where patches didn't rely too much on effects, this was quite opposite in case of Yamaha and their AWM2.
can I connect this to my Korg MicroKorg Synth? Or maybe my MicroKorg already has these sounds from the JV-880? And it also seems like a few of my Yamaha keyboards have these sounds as well.
Ofcourse it wasn't bad at all , they used the fines components back then , sure the jv1080 and jv2080 had more features but also a poorer sound quality and samples IF there are two Roland rack modules from the ninties that you should get it's the JV880 and the JD990
If you mean that you want to play the sounds like an instrument inside the DAW then the answer is that you don't. The JV-880's samples and the sound engine are in ROM and cannot be transferred into a DAW. You could create a multisampled instrument to use in the DAW, but that's a lot of work, and you lose the flexibility of the JV's synth engine.
Roland piano sounds are legendary. Simple, but very deep and pleasant sounding.
The pads are very, very cinematic. The sound of this module instantly sets the bar for high quality.

Congrats! You will love this module!
Thanks! Already looking forward to getting some use out of it.

Great performance, thanks! You really showcased those sounds by playing each one the way it is supposed to be played.
10:06 the opening to the old Final Fantasy games

Pretty "doggo"ne good, eh?
how do you connect it to a synth? can I connect it to a normal keyboard?
midi out from your keyboard to midi in on the JV-880
Hi, how do you get these tones into your DAW, I use Garageband.
