I just bought a farm and there are at least 10 of these tanks sitting around. I have been thinking about what to do with them. I was going to sell them but now I will be making a few blinds. thanks for the idea.
Nice job. Mine son just started one of these projects. Your idea of cutting out the floor is probably the best way to go. I assume your floor was not flat at all like his. I like the shooting table idea too
Big tank to paint. What did you use for paint and did it adhere? I'd hate to spray paint that much. I have a 1650 gal tank I need to paint. Sherwin Williams is telling me due to poly I'd have to try this Extreme Bond Primer that is very expensive. They said paint a 2' square with it and come back a week later and see if it sticks. I don't feel like spending $500 painting this tank that I bought for $390. Thank you.
I just used regular paint. It does not stick well and touch ups will be needed but if you don't mess with it and ding it up, 95% of it will be fine. Mine took a while to dry but it was cold.
I like it... ideal size, not too heavy, portable, waterproof, not too expensive, .... do the sliding windows make much noise ? how much did the tank cost you ? love this idea ... thanks for sharing 👍🏻
@@tjsfarmandfamily I just had a friend give me one and I am going to use your ideas to make my own. I have to drive about 6 hrs round trip to get it but I think the gas down there is worth it being free other than that
Awesome idea... I've been looking at them for the last 2 weeks for next year. Out of curiosity why did you cut the floor out? When you did it I thought oh' nooooo... The reason I say that is because a few weeks ago I was reaching down and flipped up my carpet with my hand to grab some toilet paper that was in the corner and ran my fingers right over the top of a coiled up rattlesnake.... Scared the living tar out of me.... From now on I will make sure everything is sealed where a snake can't get in. So back to my question, why did you cut the floor out? What reason so that I can maybe have a better understanding of why I should Also when I build mine. Nevertheless great job, looks Great...😊
My floor was higher in the middle, so every time I moved my feet, it would make a very large sound. I still don't have it in a permanent location but when I do I'm going to fasten it to a wood floor and then fill the gaps around the edge with foam or something similar because I'm getting lots of mice. I'm also going to make the door with a frame because the plastic warps and leave gaps over time. I don't have many rattle snakes, hence the mice!
nice, but what was the purpose of cleaning the floor if you wanted to cut it out? i would of left it in place, as you were nicely sealed from water coming in from the bottom..
I suppose I could do that video but I'll tell you that it's exactly the same, just a little dirt on the carpet from my boots. My wife shot a buck out of it the last 2 years on her first sit.
All of the blinds I've seen so far, I think this is the best!
Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Very awesome and great to see you doing everything with your wife and kids,👏🏻🏹
Wow! Very nice blind! The camp paint job is perfect!
Thank you

Very nice. I just acquired 5 tanks. Winter projects for me and my boys. The exterior paint job you did is awesome.
Thanks, didn't have much of a plan for camo, just made it up as I went.
Did you have any issues with water getting inside from the windows? Since it is just plastic to plastic without a seal.
@@justincarlock8182 I ended up putting a little plastic strip above each window to divert the water to each side.

No, it was higher in the middle. Thanks for watching.
Great build and very informative! Thank you!
Thank you.

Windows are silent but I usually open them first when I get set up. Tank cost me $600 on market place and a 5 hr drive.

@@adamreid9472 Most definitely. They are hard to find.

Didn't realize the bottom was concave and made loud popping sounds as you stepped on it, so I eliminated it.
How thick is the plexiglass?
@@trabenwar I don't remember exactly. It's pretty thin.
What is the white strip stuff you are putting the plexiglass into to slide? TIA
FRP Moulding.
how about a update on this blind after time in the woods !

Love your blind building one myself now. Do you have any issues with water getting in around the door or what did you do to prevent that
Thanks. I'm sure water could get in a little bit. I haven't done anything but might put something on the inside to seal it better this year.
Why did you cut the floor out? Couldn't just lay down carpet?
It wasn't flat. it was higher in the center and made lots of noise when you walked.
How loud was it when u shot inside?
Not bad, you want to make sure the barrel is out of the blind for sure though!
Is there enough room to shoot a crossbow out of it
Oh yeah, there is PLENTY of room. You could have 2 people crossbows!
How do you anchor it down?
I don't. It's not elevated, and the wood floor is heavy plus it's pretty aerodynamic.
nice job !!!!!
Great job man!
If you ever get a chance check out “TankBlinds” from Tx. They started out just like that.
Thanks. I have watched their videos. I don't think I want to turn it into my day job though!
