THIS VIDEO CAME LITERALLY RIGHT ON TIME. I have my first graduation shoot today and I wasn't confident in how to use my flash properly. Thanks so much.
I am picking up some very good tips from you, I take pictures of dancers and gymnastic kids and adults, there glittering outfits cause me no end of issues but your help about flash is helping me. Many thanks Nigel in the UK.
Manny, watching some of your older videos and see you have come a long way from before! You seem to be so much more shy in front of camera and now you are just a pro! Glad to see you grow man!
I've watched about a dozen vids like this today and all were "Technical" and tryin' to sell me kit... Thankfully somebody explained it step by step and showed with/without HSS (which I don't have and as an amateur, don't wanna buy)... Genuine thanks. New Sub ;-)
Wow... Watching your old video are totally different then your current ones... Is good to see when you started this and what a long away... Great work and i really enjoyed watching your informative videos... Thanks a lot... 🙌🙌
I’ve watched others try to give this tutorial but this one helped me. Simple advice - expose for the ambient before introducing the flash !!!! Great advice.
Omg this video saved my life! Thank you Manny! Keep doing what your doing your are changing lives and being a blessing to so many. You explain things so well and make the viewer feel so comfortable and right at home.
Good tutorial. I have been struggling with ambient light with off camera strobes. This really simplified my thinking. Tried it last night and shots were perfect. Thanks.
Finally someone that discusses their exposure. This is so so needed. Thank you. I have assumed that you were going 1-2 stops underexposed but its nice to see verification. Most others demonstrating the Sony/Godox union like Jason L. never give you useful details.
Its one thing reading this method, it’s another thing being told in a video. But it’s a WHOLE new ballgame to actually see it the way you presented it. THANK YOU SO MUCH 🤗 you are a photographers best friend. Subscribed.
This is the most helpful tutorial I’ve seen regarding exposure with flash. Thanks Manny and keep up the great work. Always a pleasure to watch your videos!
I watched the clip many times and gained a lot of knowledge. I like method 2, it gets depth of field. Thank you for the great knowledge given..........from Thailand FC
Iv'e watched a number of your tuts but somehow missed this one. This is exactly how I do HHS. I have seen all the different methods used and have tried many. Coming from a film background this is the quickest and best way to get proper exposure
This is an older video but really needed for me with finally getting my speed light and trigger. Thanks. I needed the step by step, but now it should be easy.
Manny you are my favourite.... your photography videos inspired me a lot.... Now i am a owner of Sony A6100+sigma 56 1.4/f and a budding Photographer... Thanks for your videos.... Lotz of love.....😍😍 hai to your wife...Your fan from India.... hope you will Give Replay....
Rewatched both videos on off camera flash and like always man you always come through clutch. Setting up for ambient light will help a lot. You the best. Your presets are the best as well bro. Hope you making a new pack soon.
Manny always a pleasure to view your videos. This one was very important because the novice photographer can see exactly how to set up his camera and flash to take a great looking ourdoor portrait with flash and balance for the ambient light. I hope to meet you some day,. I am in Dallas, Texas.
Thank you very much, I watched this video years ago , I didn't know much about photography, now that I understand everything you are talking about I found it great video and it helped a lot
A third way to balance the flash with ambiant is to use neutral density filters (3, 4, 5 stops down). An economic way to use your old material not compatible to HSS... Your video is quite to the point and very clear and demonstrative. It gives me the taste to upgrade my Flash/Camera system! Thank you very much.
Hey Manny! This is an awesome and easy off camera flash tut. (it's hard to find the step by step video) Make it again with today's gear... I bet you gonna get lots of love! 🙌🏻 👌🏻
Best flash advice anywhere! Anyone can understand. I have the Xplor 600 pro, but what about a smaller modifier than the one you used here…recommendations?
Great video! Plenty of average photographers on here but I am impressed with your work. Technical skills are on point and I like that you shot some 125th at 4.0 because the average joe might not have high speed sync. The model was perfect, gorgeous and experienced...and a sense of humor. Always a plus 😀🙏
Manny - thank you for this video! It is exactly what I was looking for! I have a Nikon Z6, and my lowest ISO is 100, is there where I would typically leave it as a starting point always? Thanks!
Good video. The only difference I use and recommend is that I meter for the background WITHOUT the subject or model in the view. There is a possibility that the ambient light on the subject, and what they are wearing, might give a skewed effect on the internal light meter. Give it a try.
I can't tell you how long I've been looking for a video that walks through this step by step. Watching in 2019, great job!
same here... :P
2020, buying a7r ii for 975$ tomorrow and i CAN'T WAIT
Halloween 2020!. Same!! Thank you both!! =) ...
Watched a few videos and this is by far the most reliable and simple method. Good job.
THIS VIDEO CAME LITERALLY RIGHT ON TIME. I have my first graduation shoot today and I wasn't confident in how to use my flash properly. Thanks so much.
Hey man, I liked this video so much, seeing when you started and where you are now bro!!! IS AMAZING!!!! KEEP DOING THE GOOD WORK!!!

You work so well together. Always fun to watch.
This was the simplest, most educational video on this that I've seen.
One of the most to the point & accurate tuts I've seen on RUclips. Solid work peeps. BTW, you guys look like a celebrity couple for some reason.
Joe P Haha thanks Joe
@@MannyOrtiz Damn Manny! These videos take me back, look at you now! Got your own modifier and everything! CONGRATS 🎊 👏 🎊
Manny’s 2019 video might be less glamorous but it still has so much important information..good content are always relevant ❤️

Jason is also a great guy. I've been following for a while now.
I've watched about a dozen vids like this today and all were "Technical" and tryin' to sell me kit... Thankfully somebody explained it step by step and showed with/without HSS (which I don't have and as an amateur, don't wanna buy)... Genuine thanks. New Sub ;-)
Additional note... Nice touch sharing the name of the fellow RUclipsr who showed you how to record your screen... Can't do a double thumbs up LOL
Finally!!!! I actually just tried it and it worked!! Thank youuuu

Having the screen visible was very helpful! Thank you!
Manny, you're a darn good teacher bro. Thanks.
Finally someone that discusses their exposure. This is so so needed. Thank you. I have assumed that you were going 1-2 stops underexposed but its nice to see verification. Most others demonstrating the Sony/Godox union like Jason L. never give you useful details.

You’re lucky to have her being so patient to allow you to shoot your video.
She’s a model. They’re supposed to be patient. It’s part of the job.
Iv'e watched a number of your tuts but somehow missed this one. This is exactly how I do HHS. I have seen all the different methods used and have tried many. Coming from a film background this is the quickest and best way to get proper exposure

Great tutorial ! Great you pointed out that ambient light and flash light are totally separate things ! I don"t use ETTL either
Nice to be able to see the results of your settings and adjust them. With film, you had to use light meter on the flash to do the same thing.
Hey Manny! This is an awesome and easy off camera flash tut. (it's hard to find the step by step video) Make it again with today's gear... I bet you gonna get lots of love! 🙌🏻 👌🏻
