I've got afro textured hair, but my niece has straight caucasian hair. when brushing my own or her texture, i start from the bottom mostly, if i start from the top and i come to a knot, i stop and gently finger detangle. i would never continue to drag downwards. i gotta be honest, i felt a bit mad watching her drag and pull that brush through your hair, like i could FEEL the BREAKAGE. i know you guys are friends, but your friend would've known better, especially since she's been natural for over a year... she would have never done that to her own hair... or let you do that to hers... look at how she eyed your brush when you first picked it up.
