    Let's be honest here we've been just getting by all season with late goals.
    I can only remember a few occasions we've actually played really well. Have relied heavily on our will power to get through.
    The wheels.have fallen off.
    But there's a deep lesson here.
    Nunez is not and will not ever be a league winning striker. He is just far to rash in front of goal. and this has cost us dearly all season.
    Salah is done. His general play is really bad . I think it's time all parties part way here and get a nice pay day from Saudi for his services. Szobozlai isn't the player we thought he was. There are glimpses but we need more than that. We need ball playing midfielders like Macalister who are bold and take the responsibility needed. Endo has been a fair place holder but a dynamic anchorman is badly needed.
    What's bitter here is there's been so many games we should have won..
    Luton away.... City home arsenal home united home and away. That's another 10points we realistically should be ahead. The season should be over if we have clinical players. Another nearly season unfortunately

    I think that Liverpool’s late comebacks that they had in a lot of games this season really papered over a lot of cracks. Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool are known for being “Mentality Monsters” meaning that there was always a feeling that no matter how poorly they played, they would win and find ways to get results without being at their best. This season alone in the Premier League, they’ve won 27 points from positions and it’s good for any team to have that mentality of not being phased when they’re losing the game especially when you can make impact subs in the 2nd half. One of the issues they’ve had recently has been starting games, because when you’re at that stage where you’re in a very close race to win the league, it gets to a point where this isn’t enough while it works, you can’t keep relying on chasing the game because it’s just not sustainable. After falling behind yet again against Crystal Palace, Liverpool couldn’t find a way through and after many chances they just couldn’t score. Everyone is talking about how their attack is missing too many chances and it’s been wasteful in recent games, but at the back they’ve been sloppy as well, in all competitions they’ve now gone 9 games without a clean sheet and maybe some of the glaring cracks that’ve been masked by these late game comebacks might finally be catching up with them. Something isn’t working for Liverpool, maybe tiredness is playing a toll on them especially since they’ve played multiple games in multiple competitions that could possibly be affecting the player’s form, but when you’re always playing catchup no matter how many times it works, as I said before it was never a sustainable strategy for them to concede the first goal miss a lot of chances make a few changes and then win or draw the game.

    • @csh28
      @csh28 2 месяца назад +1

      We can't always blame tiredness. They were tired after the quadruple season, and this year and every other year. Madrid, Barca, City recently have gone seasons/decade playing 50/60 games, but don't get tired. I agree, the defensive issues are even worse. We need to be more clinical, but when does a top team concede this many chances week in week out? Klopp sadly hasn't shown how to coach a defense. Keep a clean sheet often, and you'll always be up there challenging. Don't and you can never know what to expect.

    I get that Liverpool put themselves in position to score and had some bad luck. Jones' miss is criminal. But most of the rest is down to Palace players getting in blocks or Henderson making outstanding saves. The goal was a gem, incredibly well-worked and a glimpse into what Palace has been missing virtually all season with the long-term injuries to Eze and Olise. Mateta also had two sure goals snatched -- first by Robertson's inch-perfect clearance off the line, and another from Alison's point blank reaction save. Oliver Glasner has this team believing, and today it showed.

    During Mo Salah's absence at the AFCON tournament in January, and also his subsequent injury layoffs, Liverpool played 12 games in the Premier League, FA cup and League cup competitions. Without Salah they won 10, drew 1 and lost 1 scoring 33 goals at an average of 2.75 goals per game, and a win rate of 83%. He came back for the Brentford game on 17th February as a sub for Jota after 44 minutes, but then due to injury didn't play again until the away leg to Sparta Prague on 7th March, when he came on as a sub after 74 minutes. Since then, and including the Brentford game, Liverpool played 10 games in the PL, FA cup and Europa League. They won 5, drew 2 and lost 3, a win rate of only 50%, including two easy games against Sparta Prague. They scored 26 at an average of 2.6 per game, not significantly different than without Salah, but that tally includes 11 against Sparta Prague. In those 10 games Salah scored 7 goals, including a hat-trick against Sparta Prague.
    Obviously the drastic discrepancy in performance and results are not exclusively down to Mo Salah, but it does demonstrate the law of diminishing returns, probably related to his recent injuries and also low energy associated with fasting during the period of Ramadan from the 10th of March until the 9th of April. It begs the question why he started so many of those games during that fasting period, and why he played 90 minutes against Crystal Palace, when he was largely ineffective and struggling with many basic aspects of the performance. Considering the vast array of physiology and sports science data available to the club it is surprising and disappointing those issues do not seem to have been identified or addressed!

    Liverpools finishing in recent weeks has been dreadful. I know the haven't kept clean sheets but they usually only concede 1 goal; the amount of chances they have missed is why they drew with United and lost to Palace. The general play also suggests the players who have played a lot because of injuries; look tired and the players coming back look rusty. I'm starting to lose faith in Nunez and Dias; Firmino and Mane' were clinical when they got a chance.

      It’s not them being “so bad at shooting.” At their level, a split second means everything. Defenders and goalkeepers pounce on them in a split second and make recovery tackles, blocks, and saves that puts as much pressure on them mentally as it does physically. For example, Salah made a great run into the box around the 90th minute and did everything right to get across his marker and take the shot from close range. But the defender was still so fast that they were able to recover and block the shot near the goal line. It’s very fine margins at the elite level and they have no time on the ball.

    • @sf5912
      @sf5912 Месяц назад

    Following back to back games in the premier league where they failed to win, Liverpool are now relying on other results to win the Premier League title. They’ve had a dismal week that’s threatened to ruin Jurgen Klopp’s farewell season at Liverpool as they lost back to back home games in 2 different competitions first 3-0 a loss to Atalanta in the Europa League and now a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace meaning that Manchester City are now back on top of the Premier League table. There’s been a common theme that’s been costing Liverpool games of late which is their lackluster finishing in front of goal before the amount of chances that they’ve missed, I think the Liverpool players have the Darwin Nunez seriously. Normally they find a way to come back from behind whenever they’re trailing, but this time around his substitutions weren’t enough to change the tide of the game. It’s either wake up or kiss the title goodbye because at the end of February, Liverpool were in the race to win a quadruple, now they’ve been knocked out of the FA Cup to Manchester United, they’ve failed to win back to back premier league games and are also going out of Europe meaning that they could end the season with just the Carabao Cup to show for it.

Liverpool lack ideas coz they don't have the abilities that I mentioned.
