      I have been in the business for over 25 years, with well over 1.5 million miles driven. Most of these driving techniques are impressive, but only to those who don't know the ins and outs within the business. There are far more important things for success that any of this.

      I've done high speed reversing and a J-turn once in my life. Swerving, on the other hand, should absolutely be mandatory training.

      @@ts757arse OK, so just one example: Trying to explore (honest) strategies of the body guard (and getting the honest part will be the real difficulty here) for his planned interference in these events. Because there are some body guards that still believe in by them taking over the vehicle (by literally kicking the driver out), so as a driver I need to know what to expect. I have turned down jobs for similar reasons (already knew before hand, who I was dealing with).

    With the J-turn you first give a quarter turn the other way to upset the balance of the front wheels, so when you flick it in the opposite direction they louse their grip allowing the spin. When swerving its really important to have your hands at 9 & 3. Anything above that and steering gets way more jerky and sloppy. Also really avoid the brakes. When braking too hard, the front wheels stop spinning and slide meaning you don't turn. The key is as with everything driving "look where you want to go", not at the obstacle. First, you always steer where looking so if you stair at what you don't want to hit, you will subconsciously be drawn to it. Secondly, if staring at an obstacle reaction is to floor the brake which will make you slide into it. Looking at the clear path through makes it psychologically much easier to just steer to safety.

      Mmm, nahh. This isn't even the tip of the iceberg when it comes to driving. There are many other ways one could outdrive the police. And just because you dedicate a few hours once in your life doesn't put you anywhere near being an expert. Not even the cops, IMO they don't train nearly enough. And then there's the fact that some folks are natural born badasses behind the wheel and some will suck no matter how much you teach them.

      A modern car will fight anything you try to do that breaks traction. Unfortunately, that is the quickest way to maneuver sometimes.

    Brakes don't work as well in reverse? That assumes you have those ancient drum brakes, which work terribly in reverse. Even drum brakes that are used on modern cars are just as effective in reverse.

    • @huihuihuihuihuihui1
      @huihuihuihuihuihui1 6 месяцев назад

      Rear brakes are weaker in modern cars but when you're reversing these brakes will have to absorb the momentum first which hurts the overall braking performance.

    I don’t know what this has to do with the military. I’ve been in for over 20 years and I’ve never been taught any of this. Some jobs maybe but not just anyone in the military. Though without a doubt the j-turn has the best fun-to-ease ratio.
