They are SO CUTE!! What a pleasure to watch! I love the facial expression on the boy on the left who's asking where the propeller airplane is. ASL enhances language skills for ANYONE, whether they can hear or not. I taught all of my children (hearing) to sign since birth and it has been not but an asset to this family. God bless.
I just watched this with my daughter, adopted from Ghana, Deaf, 8 yrs. old. She loved it! It makes me think of how awesome it would have been to have her at that age! What a difference it would have made! We are all fluent ASL signers. I used to teach Deaf Ed and was a certified ASL interpreter. We live in TX too! Maybe we can meet someday!
Arkaidyn You'd be distracted by all the visual talking in your car mirrors anyway :-D And having your car seat kicked, shoulder tapped and other means of getting your attention to make you look at them while they sign. Besides, kids make loads of noises even when they say nothing...
I love this! My son does not have hearing troubles, but he has a communication disorder that makes it very difficult for him to talk. We are using lots of ASL with him. I will be following along to gain any and all ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Too precious for words. I am so happy that they have each other to communicate with. I worked in special education for a long time. One of the most heartbreaking things to watch is a child feeling isolated. I get the feeling these two kids feel very loved and supported.
This is the most precious thing I have ever seen. It just goes to show that children truly are unlimited in their ability to understand the world around them regardless of anything else and that from the earliest age all we as humans want to do is communicate in any way possible. You have a BEAUTIFUL family.
I plan on teaching my children sign language regardless of their hearing. I think its so cool to see both these little ones actually having a conversation so small. Plus learning sign language opens a whole new culture to kids. I only learned basic stuff because my cousin ended up getting a cochlear and stopped signing. Honestly it should mandatory like English and Spanish in some states. Thanks for posting!
That is so adorable! I love seeing young Deaf knowing and being able to communicate in ASL. It is truly beautiful. They are so smart, after six months and they are signing so beautifully. My teacher showed this in my Deaf Studies class and I SUPER LIKE this video!
They are too adorable! perfect reason to teach deaf or hard of hearing kids to sign! these kids are so advanced in communication and love the way they confuse signs or form them cute! :)
OMG, so cute!!!! I just think that the level of love you're showing for these boys, by adopting them AND giving them a language they feel comfortable expressing themselves in, is amazing. Hat's off to you :)
My neighbor works at a school with integrated classes for "regular" kids and kids with disabilities, and although her toddler isn't hard of hearing, she's been teaching her sign language so that she can communicate since she doesn't speak yet. It's so amazing to see a kid who still babbles in baby talk come in and ask for things so clearly with ASL. I shared this video on facebook a few years ago and it popped up on my memories page today. So glad I saw it again. Cute kids! Hope they're learning and growing well. :)
That is so cute! My three year old relies on signs in loud and distracting places or when he's tired or sick. It is so cute to see other little ones signing, I think. My son enjoys seeing vids of other kids like this and it helps him not feel alone.
My first summer teaching was in an ASL class. I enjoyed the communicative touching that went on among those middle school students, just like with those two beautiful boys.
This is the coolest, most adorable thing I have ever seen! My husband I are praying about adopting deaf/hard of hearing. WOW. So glad you posted this!!!
Yes! I LOVE videos like this to show how early babies learn and how much they can communicate in sign language. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to more of your videos!!!
I'm loving this video! It never ceases to amaze me how much babies and toddlers can communicate with sign language, EVEN though I signed as a baby myself. It is just incredible!
I think that is wonderful.Teaching them the reality of hearing impairment early and how to successfully adapt will give the children confidence through their lives. :)
OMGosh, I'm in love with those two! Hats off to their parents!! My 6yr old grandson & I are learning ASL just so & we're having the best time. The little ones learn so much quicker than adults. He's doing great, I have to ask him for help all the time! Lol
Thanks so much for posting this! That is what the hearing world needs to see more of is children using ASL. And your captioning is superb! Do more!!!!!
I applaud you for teaching your children sign language. I have a deaf sibling, and have grown up with sign language. Working the job I do (tow truck driver) it is easy to talk with a stranded motorist that happens to be deaf. Sign language should be a required class in all schools.
This is a beautiful sight to see that these Deaf toddlers are communicating a storm rather than bawling or throwing tantrums trying to communicate. This is a powerful video showing how using signs benefit Deaf children to communicate what they want/need as it does affects the development of stronger cognitive skills. Smart kids! Wow! Thanks for sharing!
wow....just goes to show the importance of teaching all children, Deaf or hearing, ASL...they communicate so well and so young and always tend to be smarter than those that dont learn ASL. too cute
Quite heartening and super interesting to see these little guys so capable with their communication - especially when you read the older boy, at age 3, couldn't communicate at all only 6 months earlier.
I love this video it's amazing! :D I'm hearing and just began my asl 2 class and have been teaching my hearing 5yr old everything I know she's learning fast. I absolutely love to see young children signing thanks for the post! :)
My heart just melted! One day I will my kids sign language in the future (im too young right now) I am deaf myself, despite I just learnt sign language about 6 years ago and I am loving to sign! Go you!!
you are sooo right! ASL is teh native language to a Deaf person and not allowing them to sign is hindering their expression. Good for you! they are adorable and obviously super smart!!!
i sat hear watching you children sign and talking to eachother my daughter is HOH (hard of hearing) on her right side we bought the Signing time dvd's they are amazing she has picked up so much in a very short amount of time your children are beautiful keep it up thank you for sharing crystal
absolutely tickles me pink! I am a grammy- my oldest grandson ( 3yrs) is deaf. We have become a family of ASL. My son (in law) & oldest daughter could not have given me a greater gift! They are n the last stage of adoption. My g-son is so intelligent-he amazes me & causes me 2 laugh more than not. Love his lil' fingers/hands (his voice) Now that his daddy has an iphone we get to facechat! hahaha. Thank you so much 4 posting this. Going 2 let him watch it!! Much love to you. From a proud grammy~
This is my first year of ask in 9th grade and I could understand them! I totally agree to teach them sign language and their so good and cute! I fell in love with the language and hope to become fluent and work with deaf kids when I get older.
This is probably the coolest thing. When I have kids I am most definitely teaching them sign. I think it's amazing to think we can communicate before they can even speak. It's great too because they will be learning English at the same time. Deaf culture and sign language is so interesting to me.
Wow this is amazing. I have a friend who teaches her hearing kids some sign language and it surprised me when they were able to communicate their thoughts well before most kids say their first words. Even for hearing children, ASL is beneficial!
Oh wow they learned that only 6 mo ths ago??? Wow they must be really smart thanks to you guys for being a good and supportive parents. May god bless ur familyyy
I love this. So much. No joke. They're both adorable and so smart. This may sound a little weird, but I love it when people adopt. Especially when they adopt children that are what my good friend likes to call "handicapable." Which is much more fitting than "handicapped."
THANK YOU for filming these clips of your sons! So important. I am not sure if you've two Deaf kids or one? But anyhow thank you for simply filming these - makes an impact - I hope - on other parents of deaf kids.
Thank you for these videos of your adorable family. I am an ASL1 student, I have enjoyed watching and learning from your videos! I hope one day to become a Speech Language Pathologist, and I feel becoming fluent in ASL and learning all I can about Deaf culture is a must.
Omg that was so cute. Just last week I meet my first deaf person for a contest we were doing for school and there were deaf people as the judges for the contest so I got to meet alot.
Awww so cute! I LOVE ASL especially if little kids do it. And I actually understood what they were saying without looking at the captions (i took a class at a college last year)
I love it.....I teach ASL in my daycare mostly because I work with special needs kids But I learned it when I was in the 3rd grade and used it with my daughter's and we never experienced what people call the terrible 2's
I have two hearing kids, but signed with both of them when they were infants/toddlers. I remember being amazed that my 11/12-month-old, when equipped with some language, DIDN'T use her words to communicate essential needs (apple, not cheese), but rather, like your boys, wanted to chat or point stuff out. It was really a wake-up for me that communication was more necessary to her than what I considered to be basic needs like food, sleep, and comfort.
I'm hearing, but a dear friend of mine is deaf/mute so he's been teaching me. I love ASL, it's amazing, and his other friends who don't hear so well like correcting me. :)
God bless.
this is the cutest thing I've ever seen.
+Jordan Teliaferro Heh! Thanks! They ARE adorable. :)
Adorable! Love their little conversation going on! It's so wonderful they can communicate with each other like this. ASL is wonderful!
Those boys are beautiful... love their communication! So bright and eager!
I just watched this with my daughter, adopted from Ghana, Deaf, 8 yrs. old. She loved it! It makes me think of how awesome it would have been to have her at that age! "See the kid in the back? I adore him!"
favourite kid spotted
Wow, when/if I have kids I am going to teach them sign language so I can have peaceful trips like this xD
samee

I love this! My son does not have hearing troubles, but he has a communication disorder that makes it very difficult for him to talk. We are using lots of ASL with him. I will be following along to gain any and all ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Watching small children sign... Man, no matter how much I see it, it always amazes me. It's just so adorable!
Too precious for words. I am so happy that they have each other to communicate with. I worked in special education for a long time. One of the most heartbreaking things to watch is a child feeling isolated. I get the feeling these two kids feel very loved and supported.
They're so amazing and so adorable, and also little geniuses, I really enjoyed watching
this over and over again. May God bless your whole family.

It just goes to show that children truly are unlimited in their ability to understand the world around them regardless of anything else and that from the earliest age all we as humans want to do is communicate in any way possible. It's precious how he taps him on the shoulder to get his attention! Love this.

Awwww. I think I just melted. Someone scoop me up and put me in a jar cause I can't handle the adorableness!
That is so adorable! I love seeing young Deaf knowing and being able to communicate in ASL. It is truly beautiful. They are so smart, after six months and they are signing so beautifully.

Thank you, Thank you for sharing... a lot of people don't realize how precious it is to start communicating with deaf babies... Wonderful!
OMG, so cute!!!! I just think that the level of love you're showing for these boys, by adopting them AND giving them a language they feel comfortable expressing themselves in, is amazing. Hat's off to you :)
I am beyond impressed. What amazing kids!! So adorable too.
This is so sweet and inspiring: thank you! We are teaching our hearing one-year-old daughter to sign and it's starting to really pay off.
They are such beautiful little angels. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I almost had a heart attack. This is the cutest thing I have ever seen! I didn't know how clear children can sign at such a young age.
You have beautiful kids. Best wishes to you and your family from Canada!
This is so cute!!! It reminds me of when me and my deaf older sister used to sign to each other when we were little! My mom still has videos!

That was literally the cutest thing i ever saw!!!

Great parents for installing signing early on in their children, it's so sad many Deaf children aren't taught early on or forced to only use English.
Oh wow they learned that only 6 mo ths ago??? Wow they must be really smart thanks to you guys for being a good and supportive parents. May god bless ur familyyy

What a delightfully quiet car ride! :)
I'm taking ASL at my college right now. This video makes me love the language so much more!
That's the cutest thing I've ever seen!!!!
Thank you for these videos of your adorable family. I am an ASL1 student, I have enjoyed watching and learning from your videos! I hope one day to become a Speech Language Pathologist, and I feel becoming fluent in ASL and learning all I can about Deaf culture is a must.
I hope you get to learn soon. It is a beautiful language. I have a DEAF person in my ASL class and he is doing great.
they are so cute! glad to know i'm not the only baby who signed to their siblings and parents:) lol
Love their little chatter!
Omg that was so cute. Just last week I meet my first deaf person for a contest we were doing for school and there were deaf people as the judges for the contest so I got to meet alot.

Very impressing!!! Amazing!!! Thank you for sharing your video.
This is adorable.

do you have more new video about the boys? they are very exciting in learning anything. I like their expressions every moment.
I'm hearing, but a dear friend of mine is deaf/mute so he's been teaching me. I love ASL, it's amazing, and his other friends who don't hear so well like correcting me. :)
This is hilarious! I have 5 kids. Deaf or not, it's always loud! This was rare.
