An absolute masterpiece. How else would you describe it? Hendrix showing his songwriting, producing, arranging and singing make him far more than simply a phenomenal guitarist. He had everything.
"Sing on Brother, Play on Drummer" - Jimi Hendrix end of "if 6 were 9" - been listening to Jimi & frank Zappa for over 50 years now. Thanks John. Wash'te , Kola !!
12 years old... buy this album, with 3 friends pass around a Bong and play the songs that were life changing for us all.... Life was awesome in those days with the music we had.
One of his most beautiful pieces. Jimi was bottled up for years, unrecognized, then he just exploded. Then gone. What might have been. He was just getting warmed up. My very first concert, Jimi and the Experience, 1968, in a milltown in Maine. Nowhere USA. Cats are the coolest but they are destroyers. My cat has destroyed everything I own
this song drips with genius creativity ,guitar virtuosity and unparalleled passion...Jimi's rhythm playing alone is a work of art as are the lyrics and every sound he squeeze's and creates out of his Stratocaster
He was involved in engineering of his 3 albums. If it's not a drum or a bass guitar or a voice it came from Jimi's guitar. I saw the JHX live & can attest!!
Jimi, the greatest. This entire album is amazing, as is Electric Ladyland: check out track #4, "Voodoo Chile" 14 minutes of fire. Please do more Hendrix!
Noel Redding only played bass on this song up to the drum break. After that, the final guitar solo has Jimi on bass. Listen and you can really hear the difference in their playing styles. Noel mostly stayed on the root notes but Jimi was all over the bass.
Jimi was one of a kind. Although his life was too brief, he left a legacy that you and other reactors are helping to keep alive. From the same album you might enjoy ‘One Rainy Wish’ and ‘Little Wing’. Thanks for the reaction. Cheers mate!
Much as I love Jimi I wouldn't say his voice is any more than adequate. He was incredibly unconfident about his vocals, there's a story that one time he heard himself on playback and ran around saying "I can sing, I can sing!" Electric Ladyland is his masterwork and perhaps indicates the direction he might have gone had he lived longer. One of the first albums to really make use of stereo, remember George Martin spent three weeks mixing the mono version of Sgt Peppers and left the engineer an afternoon to do the stereo, almost as an afterthought.
Jimi's got a great voice perfect for the Experience and what they were doing...yep he didnt like his voice and kept trying to wanting to bury it in the mix but thankfully Chas Chandler wasnt having any of that just he knew jimi could sing and kept it to the forefront
Loved your reaction to perhaps the greatest psychedlic song ever, John. I've always said that Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon were the best psychedelic lyricists. And the guitar playing...spectacular.
He only has 3 studio LPs and 1 live. Just do a side of a LP starting with his first. Are you experienced. I know you do songs. But this is and should be a exception. If there ever could be one. Tell everyone when and you will have the most likes and views of ever. Axis is his second. No need for a fear about them getting blocked. The family gets it. More of your generation to hear him will buy his LPs.
@@johnsilva9139 his mother was Mexican, and I think she was a prostitute, but his father changed his name to protect his son from his mother. I think she also had issues with alcohol, but again I'm not that certain on what the actual issue was.
Hendrix really was the complete package. Simply everything you could ask for in a musician. The beautifully imaginative storytelling, with a soulfully angelic voice. The legendary and innovative guitar playing to put the cherry on top. Seriously one of one

Absolutely ❤️🔥

Thanks for playing this. Brings back memories of my youth
Musical god. Pioneer, innovator, creativity, style and soul, everything you could want in an Artist, not just musician.
one of my fave Hendrix songs! dbl ♥

Jimi was always one of my favorites. I miss his fearless creativity. Peace.
My favorite Jimi song from my favorite Jimi album
I saw and heard the Jimi Hendrix Experience live in the Cleveland Auditorium in '67. My ears still ring 50 years later.
I was two years old then 🤣 ...but was completely aware of him by age six🎸

This album is great. I love everything he did.

Axis Bold as Love: such a beautiful album. Great review mate !
BOLD AS LOVE is a great song. Also check out SPANISH CASTLE MAGIC off the same album. Very hard hitting tune.
One of many my favorite Hendrix songs

And it sounded fucking amazing on a turntable with an album compared to how i hear it now. He is one where compression is noticible.
At the time it was like a lightning bolt, so ahead of it's time.
Fantastic!
When I found Jimi...I found myself but my heart was broken at the same time.
Stupendous choice. Top 10 all-time.
Think I heard once that Jimi cud see emotions as colours.
John, you are now experienced!
- Great album! :)
This music is so fine and so fine it's written on thc acetate
Wonderful reaction John.
The goat no doubt about it
There could only be one!
So much pot smoked in the early 80s listening to this cat.
Personally I just love the Mans voice
His guitar playings not bad either!!..
You should listen too the studio jam of this song , album Jimi Hendrix experience delux album

Btw thank you.
The H-Man!
Manic depression another great.
His real name is Johnny, but it was changed when he was a child to hide from his mother. 😢
Never heard that. Were his mother and father seperated?
@@johnsilva9139 no they just took hide and seek a bit too seriously
