haden: hi chan: that's fair i remember everyone on booktube reading this book circa 2016 and i was like wow this is a deep ya fantasy book. it must be complex and it's also very long. i could never read it. i was so shocked when i found out this series was about faerie smut. in this essay i will
I shamelessly love her books. This was the first one I read too! To be honest I missed the controversy around this entirely. I haven't even tried to guess at what might be problematic about them. After the Twilight aftermath (another series I shamelessly loved in high school) I had to leave book controversy behind and just peacefully enjoy my "dumb bitch books" (great title btw lol) away from the rest of society.
Erin Symone Especially when reading is such a solitary thing, it’s just you and the book. Now, all of a sudden you get bombarded by so much political correctness. Nothing’s just fun anymore.
i really enjoyed these books and before coming on booktube and book twt had no idea so many people disliked it and felt it was cringey (which it can be, but who gives a shit it’s fun) i’m such an avid viewer of your vids so it’s nice to see that you and i have such similar views about this series. i totally get peoples criticisms of this book but i’ve never felt the flaws were egregious enough for me to dislike them.
That was the most irritating repetitive line in the series. The sad part is that the same line is used in other books by SJM. One time could have been considered funny, but having it repeated in several different series is just annoying.
Seriously this video made me laugh so hard I couldn't BREATHE!! Also.. I just want to appreciate your ability to hide all those moments when Rhys was mentioned where I could practically FEEL your desire for Jim Halpert moments to stare knowingly into the camera at the rest of us who know what happens in the other books “Tamlin isnt... a favorite character” GURL~ *nods in approval* you good ;P
I had been putting this series off for five years and finally read it because I saw you like it. I am obsessed. I can't believe I waited so long to read them. I didn't love the first book as much but the next two blew my mind! I love hearing Haden's thoughts on it- you guys are so funny together. "A little bit of ankle? I'm moist." Is my new favorite quote, thank you. I'd love to see you discuss ACOMAF!
You should definitely have him read book 2! Also he mentioned he wanted to read a good book so I would have to say anything by Brandon Sanderson (especially Mistborn!), plus it's got an interesting plot and also great characters!
I see alot of people who didn't like the first book, and didn't continue with the series. In my opinion, the first book (the first half at least) was the weakest of the series. If you keep going you are greatly rewarded! I mean I'm sure there are people who didn't like the whole series, but still! I LOVE this series, but I didn't start to love it till the end of the first book. & I also hate the name Tamlin. Lol
I loved the last third of the book, up until then I didn't love it but tolerated it. I didn't really believe the love story between them, it was very one sided but I could see how she felt the way she did. I had a tough time imagine the masks, it was bizzare. Tamlin at court was awful and came off as a coward while she was killing it. Rys was a breath of fresh air. It wasn't until the second book that it actually made sense why it didn't feel right it wasn't supposed to. :)
I’ve never watched a RUclips video longer than 15 minutes, tell me why I watched this whole thing, enjoyed it, and wanted more. Like I loved the way you guys were discussing the book together (personally my favorite fantasy series even tho it was hard for to get through the first book) BUT MORE IF THIS PLZ
for haden, the body starts feeling the need to pee when there's a certain amount of liquid in the bladder, which simulates the receptors in the walls due to the volume and pressure, i'd say around 300 ml would be the usual amount you have when you start feeling nature's call.. the part of the brain that deals with urination is close to the one that deal with stress and pain, so when someone is stressed, because the brain is constantly in contact with the bladder and there's an increase in signals, the bladder can be "accidentally" simulated there are a lot more factors but the TL;DR is that you don't need to be holding in pee to then pee yourself when scared, there's always some liquid there waiting for you :)
this is so fun, i wish i could get my husband to read these books with me. I just read them and give him a synopsis each time I come to a stopping place but I always feel like he's missing out on details i forget!
Many of the ACOTAR fans treat the first book as a.. prequel of sorts. But I do like to read it sometimes to see all of the hints and foreshadowing. I always see more each time I read it. The second book though... it feels like a door has been fully opened and Prythian is explored more. I adore it.
I laughed out loud with you saying how licking the tears can be a tactic that he used! Anyway, loved this video, looking forward to seeing the discussion about the second book ;)
Just found your channel and I am really enjoying it. Love your fiancé’s comment about wearing masks being uncomfortable even for a day. Funny how relevant that comment is now LOL. Thanks for your great content. You two are a cute couple!
i really enjoyed this concept! hope you do acomaf cause obvs that’s the book in the series and would enjoy to hear you thoughts too! or maybe read a throne of glass or her new book once it’s and compare the first books of the 2 series?
Makayla Cochran hahaha yeah i know i just meant the first book not the whole series, like compare just the first books of both series, though i also just saw her new book is 816 pages lmao
Lol this was soo good! I love how you both have natural chemistry and both said what you needed to say without it coming off as awkward. I also like how chan lead this conversation as someone who read the series, I would recommend innkeeper series Ilona Andrews*husband and wife team honestly i think you both would love it.
I think the series did some really great things talking about abuse and rape(it’s effects on men and that it was never a shameful thing for them to have gone through), but it definitely has its problems.
I mean I skipped some scences in this book but I really enjoyed this series read all the books within a week, so I feel like it really really got to me on some level
I need book 2 from you guys now lol. You should also do the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout. It's classic YA paranormal romance that would work well for this.
You have to make him read the second one! I personally loved the first one after my first read but the rest of the series was SO much better!! This one didn't have much plot but it sets up the characters really well for all of the plot in the next books, I almost think of it as a prequel for the actual story (anyone else? no? just me?)
I want to get my fiancé to read books with me 😂 I can’t imagine what he’d say about some of my fave books 😂😂😂 Love this concept! You guys are so damn cute
Am I the only one who didn’t even know this was a B&B retelling and went all ‘Oh this is the Greek myth of the human turned goddess Psych’s retelling’ .______.
The name Tamlin comes from the Scottish story and ballad of Tam Lin. He was a fairy living in the woods who would sleep with women that came into the woods unless they left a ring or cloak in offering. A woman who owns the woods went in and they hooked up- she got pregnant and then went back to the woods to get some herbs to have an abortion (cuz she doesn’t want to raise a baby alone) and he says he’s actually mortal but the queen of fairy holds him and is gonna sacrifice him to hell as part of a seven year tithe. So the woman saves him from the queen (and he turns into a bunch of animals and there’s a test. You can see where the inspiration for this book came from..)- they get married, the end.
I tried reading this earlier this month and I didn't think it was terrible, but 100 pages in I was sooo bored -.- I do want to finish it eventually, especially since most people say it gets a lot better after the first one :D
Maitland Johnson I agree about Kelsey completely! The book was hard to get through for me not only bc of her inability to make reasonable decisions, but her seemingly orientalist viewpoint/fetishization of Indian culture in general? I thought the world building had potential but I think it would have been best if she stuck to an original idea instead of messily collaging bits and pieces of Indian folklore to fit her narrative
I recently read ACOTAR and I made a note on how many times I read the phrase “bowels turned watery” ... I think I stopped at 3 different times. But still loved the book tbh 😂😂😂
Your fiancé is giving me Spider-Man era Toby Maguire vibes
Stephanie R Yes! I kept thinking he seemed familiar then I read your comment. You’re right, Tobey Maguire looks and voice even.
Stephanie R omg YES
Oh my god
Stephanie R THAT’S who he was reminding me of! Lol
So true!! Voice and looks-wise
“Tamlin is not..... a favourite character” nice diversion Chan😂
hahah i want him to go into book 2 surprised ;)
chandler ainsley very sleek😉
please force him to read the second one
Chanel007 07 He has to to read the second one 😂
Please
“I hate the name Tamlin.”
“You make points.”
“Ram me Tamlin”
“......yeah that’s kind of nice 😒” LMAO
I just wanna know y'alls opinion on rice sand basically inventing feminism in book 2 😪
i'm SCREAMINNNNNNG
OMG🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We love a feminist kween
"I'm just imagining having a mask on all day and how sweaty and irritating that would be" little did we know lmao... WEAR YOUR MASKS FOLKS!!
good to know I'm as dumb as Feyre and didn't solve the riddle lmao
Same lol I didn't get it at all
My first immediate guess was love cause I have read enough cheesy shit soo......
I remember thinking “the answers probably just some bullshit.” I was correct.
Same I had no idea and to be honest forgot about it until Feyre solved it I was like ‘oh yh that thing’ lol
I remember thinking, "Is the answer Love? Is it Love? ...No. No, it wouldn't be that dumb." And then it was.
Shatter Me and The Cruel Prince, for sure. Love those books but they definitely fit DBBC. 😭😂
haden: hi
chan: that's fair
i remember everyone on booktube reading this book circa 2016 and i was like wow this is a deep ya fantasy book. it must be complex and it's also very long. i could never read it. i was so shocked when i found out this series was about faerie smut. in this essay i will

Me too. I like books that are problematic.
“He knows that she’s there, which I think is kinda hot-“ saaaaame 😂😂😂
He needs to read book two. It’s like a completely different story. 😂❤️
Please do the second book, I really enjoyed this
Second book is way better imho
"OLD NESTLE" I'm wheezing
i really enjoyed these books and before coming on booktube and book twt had no idea so many people disliked it and felt it was cringey (which it can be, but who gives a shit it’s fun) i’m such an avid viewer of your vids so it’s nice to see that you and i have such similar views about this series. i totally get peoples criticisms of this book but i’ve never felt the flaws were egregious enough for me to dislike them.
AND I ALSO FUCKIN HATE THE NAME TAMLIN
My biggest gripes about Sarah J Maas' writing:
1. People's throats bobbing.
2. "Omg what happened?!" I told him what happened.
Chandler's foreshadowing is so heavy, and i am so here for it
I love the dynamic between you and your fiancé! I’d watch you two review any book
ahh thank you!
Hunger games! Such a YA classic, cant believe Haden hasn’t even seen the movies
he hadn't seen all the harry potter movies until after the seventh one came out... uncultured
Such an amazing series as well
I love the chemistry between you both.
13:38 when he says imagine having a mask on your face all day.
No need to imagine that now!
Omg finally someone else mentioned the weirdest line ever : "my bowels turned watery". It was said at least three times 😶
That was the most irritating repetitive line in the series. The sad part is that the same line is used in other books by SJM. One time could have been considered funny, but having it repeated in several different series is just annoying.
Seriously this video made me laugh so hard I couldn't BREATHE!! Also.. I love how much detail Haden remembers about the book lol
I'm moist." You two give me hope in the power of love.
hahaha love that ❤️❤️
Loved this!! So interesting to hear you guys talk about the book together, really hope you make more of these!!!!
ty! it's gonna be a (mostly) monthly thing :)
Definitely read the second book together, in fact all of them including the novella 🤗🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Please read the Red Queen books. Mare it’s so dumb it fits perfectly
valentina polack you’re so right
I could write a 30 page essay on how much rage Mare Barrow brought me
i absolutely loved this !! i hope you both read the second one! I may even give it a reread and read along
I’m so happy you’re saying Rhys right
I've never read this book but I still watched this entire video because y'all were cracking me UP
You should definitely have him read book 2! Also he mentioned he wanted to read a good book so I would have to say anything by Brandon Sanderson (especially Mistborn!), plus it's got an interesting plot and also great characters!
I would love to see you guys read ACOMAF of Shatter Me because no one is dumber than Juliet and her purple super suit.
I loved shatter me I'm sorry that you didn't :(
While I agree and Juliet in the first book is really annoying there is a big character development throughout the series. It gets better.
Oh, I haaaaated Juliet in the first two Books!!!!!!!!!! She‘s soo annoying
Shatter me made me lose brain cells
Please do more of these, Haden's take on these YAs is everything!
I see alot of people who didn't like the first book, and didn't continue with the series. In my opinion, the first book (the first half at least) was the weakest of the series. If you keep going you are greatly rewarded! I mean I'm sure there are people who didn't like the whole series, but still! & I also hate the name Tamlin. Lol
Forget ACOMAF. Make that boy read The Hunger Games.
“Growl and/or purrrr” 😂😂😂
PLEASE DO MORE OF THESE!! living for your content right now 🙂
omg make him read acomaf!! I prefer romance and character driven books as well they just fulfil my heart
I loved the last third of the book, up until then I didn't love it but tolerated it. I didn't really believe the love story between them, it was very one sided but I could see how she felt the way she did. I had a tough time imagine the masks, it was bizzare. The way y'all have thoughtful conversations is goals. Intelligent and gorgeous, the lot of you are. I hope y'all have a nice engagement!
thank you so much!!
This video is making me want to reread this series
Update: guess who just started rereading ACOTAR?
Please do this for the rest of the series!!! I really want to hear both of you guys opinions to the second and third book.
Okay I need another video of him reading the second one. He said “it’s pretty PG” and Chandler was like 👀.
I’ve never watched a RUclips video longer than 15 minutes, tell me why I watched this whole thing, enjoyed it, and wanted more. Like I loved the way you guys were discussing the book together (personally my favorite fantasy series even tho it was hard for to get through the first book) BUT MORE IF THIS PLZ
more coming right up
I love your videos 🥺🥺 and I support the dumb bitch club like yes plz I’ll never get tired of this content
City of Bones, Vampire Academy, and the Host would all be great contenders
for haden,

there are a lot more factors but the TL;DR is that you don't need to be holding in pee to then pee yourself when scared, there's always some liquid there waiting for you :)
haha this is perfect, i'll show this to him!
chandler ainsley i knew the things i learned in nursing school would be useful one day!
That "Sarah J. Ass" SENT me
Super late to this video, but your fiance's opinions are giving me life. You guys are so funny together. Love these types of videos.
he really dragged you about the 5 star rating 😂😂
I love this please read ACOMAF
this is so fun, i wish i could get my husband to read these books with me. I just read them and give him a synopsis each time I come to a stopping place but I always feel like he's missing out on details i forget!

I forgot how much shit happened in book 1. Damn the series definitely got better during book 2. I’d 100% love to see both of your input’s on ACOMAF❤️
I laughed out loud with you saying how licking the tears can be a tactic that he used! Anyway, loved this video, looking forward to seeing the discussion about the second book ;)
I NEED a sequel to this video with acomaf. like NEED need
Kiki Griffin TOG is so good but it’s such a long series and most of the books are giant
Makayla Cochran hahaha yeah i know i just meant the first book not the whole series, like compare just the first books of both series, though i also just saw her new book is 816 pages lmao
Omg yes! He needs to read the second book! Love hearing his thoughts
Please do the second book, I’ve just found your channel and I thought this was hilarious and I loved it!! All the best xx
coming this month
Lol this was soo good! I love how you both have natural chemistry and both said what you needed to say without it coming off as awkward. I also like how chan lead this conversation as someone who read the series, I would recommend innkeeper series Ilona Andrews*husband and wife team honestly i think you both would love it.
ah thanks so much
This is great timing ... needed a recap before I continue with the series!
I demand more of these 😂
hayden is my favorite character in the cacu (chandler ainsley cinematic universe)
I think the series did some really great things talking about abuse and rape(it’s effects on men and that it was never a shameful thing for them to have gone through), but it definitely has its problems.
i would be so interested in seeing hayden's reactions to acomaf! especially given that it has so much more plot than acotar, and better characters
I mean I skipped some scences in this book but I really enjoyed this series read all the books within a week, so I feel like it really really got to me on some level

pls read the sequel!!! i want to see his reactions so badly lol
I loveeee the dbbc you guys are such a good duo 😂😍
I would love to see you read the second book!
Am I the only one who didn’t even know this was a B&B retelling and went all ‘Oh this is the Greek myth of the human turned goddess Psych’s retelling’
.______.
I thought that too!!
please read book 2 I would love to hear you guys talk about it

The second book is my favorite in the series. So I OBV want y’all to review it.

Please read the second book! I think that’s my fav of the 3
Wait Feyre is the youngest? I thought she was the middle child
elain is the middle but seriously acts like the youngest
I thought so too! :D
thefaereader i was today years old when I learned that. She gives off such middle child energy
@@alexandrafilas8769 I know right??
Sabrina Lindholm yeah I had to keep reminding myself that she was the youngest because I kept thinking that Elain was the youngest...
I've never read this book and I might not read it ever but I saw the whole video cause I find you hilarious!🤣🤣🤣
I tried reading this earlier this month and I didn't think it was terrible, but 100 pages in I was sooo bored -.- I do want to finish it eventually, especially since most people say it gets a lot better after the first one :D
I actually liked this series. But I loved the Throne of Glass series. I think you should have your boyfriend read that one, better plot too.
i wasn't a big TOG fan tbh. but we're reading the second book in this series so that should be interesting lol
YES PLEASE to you guys reading book 2 😍
Please read the second book I need to know how he feels about the table scene lmao
Loved this so much!!!! I was laughing the whole freaking time!!!! I wouldn't mind the reading of the hunger games!!!!!!!
God PLEASE make him read the second one 😂
Omg this was amazing! I’m gonna need you guys to read ACOMAF now pretty please!
I didn't know I needed this...but thank u
I've read this book twice and didn't get the beauty and the beast storyline until now??
Just subscribed because of this vid lmao (and anticipating for the acomaf vid with your fiance)
We also have to remember Feyre is dumb because she’s 19 in a foreign land. She matures throughout the series
You guys should read Clockwork Angel!
read the second book dear god please
y'all should read vampire academy or city of bones perhaps! also i loved this video, you guys are hilarious!
The bowel thing😂😂😂I can't stop laughing!
Edit :helicopter landing pad😂
Perfect DBBC: the tigers curse series UGH
Unfortunately that's such a guilty pleasure of mine. I love that series but will admit Kelsey is a dingbat
