Only 5 years the second-hand Stadtbahn trams from Vienna were used in Utrecht. They were bought for an expected passenger grow that never came. Rebuilding the streetcars for the high platforms must have cost a fortune.

As i remember it, these cars/trams were already ready for high platforms. As they were used as underground cars in Vienna. The normal streetcars in Vienna (the old ones) don't have exit doors on both sides. However they look fantastic, sad to see it end. :(

They had doors for low platforms when they arrived in Utrecht. As you can see, the doors at the front were not rebuild.

MrBusfreakinnsbruck no, they didn’t, because U6 in Vienna has low platforms, the same as an usual tram. The only difference between U6 and usual trans were the doors on both sides.
