This video demonstrates how to prepare North Indian Recipe Kadi Chawal in Tamil.
Ingredients:
Basmati Rice- 2 Cup
Sour Curd- 2 Cup
Bengal gram powder - 2 and 1/2Cup
Onion-2
Tomato-2
Green Chilli- 2
Ginger-1/2 inch
Red Chilli Powder- 2 Teaspoon
Coriander Powder- 3 Teaspoon
Garam masala-1 Teaspoon
Turmeric Powder- 1 Tablespoon
Asafoetida powder - 1 Teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds- 1/2 Teaspoon
Mustard Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Coriander Seeds - 1/2 Teaspoon
Jeera- 1/2 Teaspoon
Oregano (omam) - 1/2 Teaspoon
Long Red Chill- 2
Coriander leaves- a small pinch to decorate
Kasturi methi- 1 Tablespoon
Salt-to taste
Pre-setup for Kadhi:
Take 2 Cup curd, 1 Cup Bengal gram powder , 1 Tablespoon of Salt, 2 teaspoon of Turmeric Powder. Mix it well with four cups of water and keep it aside for 2 hours.
Pre-setup for Chawal:
Soak 2 cups of Basmati rice for one hour
Steps to Prepare Kadi:
Take a pan and pour 1 tablespoon of ghee. Add 1/2 teaspoon of coriander seed, 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seed, 1/2 teaspoon of Fenugreek seed, 1/2 teaspoon of jeera and 1/2 teaspoon of Oregano and allow it to split. Add the kadi mixture mentioned in Preset-up step, add 2 more cups of water and allow it to cook for 40 minutes.
In the mean time, Prepare Pakoda and Chawal as mentioned below,
Pakora:
Take 1 and 1/2 cup of Bengal gram powder in a vessel, add 1 finely chopped onion, 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder, salt to taste, and make it as a smooth batter. Deep Fry it as golden brown pakoras in medium flame.
Chawal: (Rice)
Take a pan, put 1/2 tablespoon of ghee, 4 pieces of Cloves, 2 bay leaf and a small piece of Cinnamon. Saute it well. Add 1 hour soaked Basmati Rice, 4 cups of water and allow it to cook in low flame for 20-25 minutes.
Prepare Masala for Kadi:
Take a pan and pour 1 tablespoon of oil and 1 teaspoon of ghee. Add 1 finely Chopped onion, 2 tomatoes, 1 chopped green chilli, 2 long chilli, chopped ginger. Add 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of chilli powder, 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of garam masala and crushed kastoori methi. Saute it well till the oil spilts from the content.
After 45 minutes, put the fried pakoda and masala in the kadi and garnish it with finely chopped coriander leaves
Now, North indian recipe Kadi Chawal is ready to serve. This kadi can be used as a side dish for Roti, and Toasted bread
