    Looks like a grand old time! When I was a teenager I canoed down the Hay River in the NWT and it was so cool going through the canyons. You kind of get a small sliver of what the early explorers like David Thompson and Alexander Mackenzie experienced while charting territory in the New World. I imagine canoeing through the mountains like that is even more majestic. 👌🏼

    120 years ago millions of salmon would have spawned up this little river. Before the built the damn dam on the Powell River this , and associated watersheds had one of the largest salmon runs on the coast. The river looks like a perfect spawning channel.

      Yep, this would be ideal salmon spawning habitat!

    Great video with some very beautiful shots. The drone work was very impressive. I hope it didn’t take too much damage when it went in the river.

    Love this area! Further up from the camp the river narrows and is also very stunning. The outhouse situation by the camp is one of the most beautifully crafted that I’ve ever seen, almost a destination in itself!
    Awesome once again!

    nice job, whereabouts did you put-in and what class would you say it all is? Could you go higher and find steeper stuff too? Anything you had to portage?

    • @lifeofluke
      @lifeofluke  10 месяцев назад

      Difficult to say where we put in because it was just thrashin' around in the woods looking for relatively easy access below the steeper, more constricted, boulder-filled sections of the river. There definitely is steeper and more technical whitewater above where we started. The only stuff we portaged was a couple spots with logs lying across the river. The lower bit we did I would say is class II, but I'm not the best at estimating grades.

      You're not alone. I lost my mini 3 pro a week and half ago. Bushwacked to a gravel bar that looked good to work from, hit a twig almost immediately. I shared your video to "close friends" because it's by far the best video I've seen of the valley in general, (aside from those focused on climbing) and I want them to have some vague idea why I go there.
      Beautiful work! I love your introductory video of the approach along Goat Lake. Best I've seen.
