Eric B shouts out LL outta no where who stood up when the artist was announced. Then it shows Keith Sweat looking confused. Then Dionne Warrick looked back at the mess like, "What in the world?" Aaaaww miss that era. I saw LL, Eric B and Rakim, and Whodini at the Fresh fest that same year. PE was supposed to show up but they didn't.
Eric B yelled Out LL Cool J's name because at that time LL came out with the song Bad first and actually tried to sue Michael Jackson for coming up with the same song of which had the same Baseline notes. So, it wasn't out of nowhere it was out of respect for LL in that situation. I remember because I was around while it was happening. Peace.

The connection I saw, was theyre both Blues based bass lines, bass lines based on the blues scale. I’d think MJ was influenced for sure, not lawsuit worthy but I always thought that’s where MJ and Q got the musical concept. They got the story from that young boy who was killed by his friends of course.
