Diana seems to be pissy about interview questions ....wonder if she does it on purpose or just her personality. I’ve heard her insult Sam and try to make a joke of it. Weird weird.
The thing I found most fascinating about the Gabeldon books is the science of early health as it is compared to contemporary healthcare in her stories, and I NEVER hear anyone ask the author about this aspect of her writing. To me it's one of the biggest parts of her story.
I think it's rude of that interviewer lady to express curiosity about what's under Sam's skirt, while she doesn't even know him. Like bordering sexual intimidation. If anyone asked that of a lady they would think it's rude, men have feelings too!
Skirt? SKIRT? As a Scot I may be precious, but a kilt is not a skirt! I do agree with you though. Were it a man asking those questions of a woman people would be in uproar, and quite rightly so. Show some respect!
Gayle comes across in this interview as an absolute idiot if you ask me. The whole thing is pretty uncomfortable, and I love that Diana Gabaldon is a bit short or seemingly irritated with some of the questions. No you can’t compare Game of Thrones to Outlander! They are Both great shows but thats as far as similarities go. Don’t even get me started about Gayle bringing up what under Sams kilt.... how unprofessional and inappropriate.
Clara Andriessen I cringed when she did that. Yes it was very inappropriate and if the roles had been reversed, the actor a woman and the interviewer a man, they would probably have gotten complaints.
I had just been told to watch Outlander and boy oh boy am I loving this show, I cannot stop watching it hours every night two or three episodes a night, the acting is incredible I love Claire and Jaime, but also I love learning about the history! the details of this show is amazing and I just would like to say Thank You to the entire cast to the amazing author of such a great story and everyone involved. this show just takes me away!
Similar experience. 👆This interview occurred many years before I got hooked tho. I’m going to Scotland soon to see some filming sights and the highlands. Some things are just in your DNA. Appreciating all things Outlander.
+Kaylin Lambert God, I thought I was the only one! And this is not the first time that Sam has been asked this. I don't know why female interviewers think it's ok to say that. If it was a male interviewer saying "I can't see under the dress when I'm at home" there would be complete uproar. It's not ok to say it to women, it's not ok to say it to a man. It's sexual harassment.
Jamie from Doctor Who and Jamie from Outlander are two of my very favorite characters and knowing one is inspired by the other makes me incredibly happy
Gayle didn’t even pronounce Caitriona’s name correctly the first two times she says it. I’m very unimpressed with her in general. I also agree with another commenter that she should never nave brought up what is or isn’t under the kilt. Very unprofessional. This interview and the three people doing it failed miserably. 👎 Diana Gabaldon seems somewhat irritated with some of their questions, and I find that hilarious.
The story is told through the eyes of the femail character, Claire. This is how Diana wrote the story. This does not make Cait the main lead. Both Sam and Cait carry the story. Without either of them there would be k story.
If a male interviewer were to speak to a female guest in the same manner that this female host is speaking to Sam Heughan, the internet would demand blood, and he would likely lose his job. It made me very uncomfortable.
I cringed when she said Cait’s name wrong and I cringed so hard my skin fell off when she talked about looking up Sam’s kilt like that was beyond inappropriate and awkward. It’s very personal thing and it’s not ok at all
He is very handsome but his humility and down to earth personality is most attractive. I am shocked these ladies objectified him with calling him “smokin’ hot, yes, I would like you to throw me over your shoulder, sexy hair, kilt comments.” So wrong - what a double standard in our society. Shameful.
I can’t believe she said “look under your kilt” how rude. If a man said that to a women about her skirt there would have been outrage. Learn some class.
Nice to see the girls commenting here calling out how inappropriate the woman on the interview panel were being, given the outrage there would be if the roles were reversed.
@Hayley it's an older episode of doctor who with a Scot. Character Jamie McCrimmon played by Frazer Hines with the second doctor and Hamish Wilson with the sixth
I first saw Doctor Who's Jamie before I ever heard of Outlander, and I always felt like the author did. He was such an interesting and charming character. And now I'm obsessed with Outlander. So yes, thank you Doctor Who!!!

Ron Weasley whole definition of Scottish descendants...noble, sexy, manly, playful, lover, etc...I want to say. That my mind and my body are processing the stories of the Outlander. Queen Elizabeth did not serve as a nurse in WWII. She was part of the motor pool brigade that repaired and serviced trucks for the ambulance service, a necessary and quite humble position, for which she received great respect and admiration from the working classes as well as the public at large.

Yeah I agree completely. Any interviewer should know how to pronounce the name of their interviewee - it's interview 101. So unprofessional and disrespectful to get their name wrong. Bah!
@Sam Roland Heughan Eight years later and the world is still in love with the love story that carries over from one book to the next. Of course the two protagonists have a lot to do with it. When the day after watching an episode you ask your friend: "Have you heard what happened to Claire and Jamie?" as if it had been on the news; that's when you know you are watching something powerful.
I don't wanna sound like a bitch, but this actor is not hot as himself. There are actors who are very charismatic, and they are lucky enough to play iconic characters that make them loved by many....and there are other actors who are not so charismatic themselves, but they are loved because of their amazing characters. The guy who plays Jamie belongs to the second category in my opinion.
Wow...three highly intelligent individuals interviewed by completely rude TV hosts who have a wonderful opportunity before them and dont take advantage of it and instead sexually harass Sam Heughan and mispronounce Caitriona's name. Diana seems sooo annoyed. Like, do some research for this kind of interview. LOL.

Books were awesome, but season 2 if he kills randell, not only would her husband disappear but she would also, she would disappear from the timeline, because her husband is the one that brought her to the Stones.
The whole Doctor Who thing is strange. "TheHighlanders" the episode she refers to, hasn't existed since at least the 70's as all copies of the story where destroyed. So if she wrote the book after seeing it in the 90's she could tell the BBC where she saw it, so it could be returned to the archives.
I've read all the books except for the last one, and a few I've read over and over and since I started reading them I thought this needs to be a movie or mini series I fell in love with Claire and Jamie and their child....oops that all comes later lol ;) no spoilers
Kim Allen Do you think that Voyager is the worst in the series? I just got through with that one, and I was surprised how much I disliked it compared to the first two. Is it just me?

Nephania Black unfortunately I feel that way too. He's much more masculine as Jamie, not as himself.
Do you still feel the same as you did a year ago? I just wondered..
Just don't mess up the last season of this show the way GOT did.
So they should do a tv show in 8 books?

So if she wrote the book after seeing it in the 90's she could tell the BBC where she saw it, so it could be returned to the archives.
maybe she went back in time :0
missysummertime Hee hee
missysummertime YOU WIN
fucking idiots this book was written in 1995
+sailormoony233 The first one was published in 1992.

The first novel I read
I've read all the books except for the last one, and a few I've read over and over and since I started reading them I thought this needs to be a movie or mini series I fell in love with Claire and Jamie and their child....oops that all comes later lol ;) no spoilers
Kim Allen Do you think that Voyager is the worst in the series? I just got through with that one, and I was surprised how much I disliked it compared to the first two. Is it just me?
No voyager was actually the first one I read and I promise the best is yet to come
The one that really got to me was the fiery cross
Kim Allen Got to you as in it was good or bad?
Both,it made them more real and more historical data than the others
What a huge lot of stupid questions. The kilt question and comments? Give me a break.
And firefly
Man, Yes I do! 😁
