- Host Joanne Clendining returns to the field in Season 11’s premiere episode. She’s visiting a heritage breed livestock farm in Hurlock, MD called Pop’s Old Place where 3rd generation farmer Darlene Goehringer is ready to put Joanne to work. Darlene and Joanne feed the unique mule-foot hogs, wrangle the Randall Lineback cattle from paddock to paddock with the help of Rosie the cattle dog, and bottle feed a couple of cute baby lambs. Joanne learns that Darlene transformed this family farm from crops to pastureland and learns why land stewardship is so important to Darlene and to the future of farming.

💚 Nice video! 😊 The subject of heritage breeds is a bit interesting to me. The fact that some breeds are rarer than others & some have even gone extinct....as someone who's never lived or worked on a farm, it's something I rarely think about.🤔

😄 Thank you! Heritage breeds are very interesting, and quite a few farmers in Maryland breed them! Did you know that 80% of cows are not considered a heritage breed making such livestock even more rare?
