- Dear friends
For this episode I’m revisiting the outlets I frequented in the 80s, today we’re be checking out Damansara Kim. Apart from the kopitiams, I used to come to this area a lot cos one of my suppliers is located here. This supplier happened to be a recording studio where I come to supervise voice over recordings. If I work over lunch my supplier would take me to have live seafood opposite his office but if I work late, they’d bring me to Online pub for a pint of two. LOL, Also, I was treated for a mild stroke at KPJ. So Damansara Kim does give me fond memories. Thanks, and see you in the next.

Hello my new York audience
Have been following your video for some time. Many Thnx.
Your recent visits to kopitiam is certainly interesting but I find your thumbs up to nearly every stall in a kopitiam dilutes your judgement value..
Just my observation. Cheers
Thanks but thumbs up is my signature
Whether you are rich or poor. you have to drink snd eat to survive every day. the food in the kopitiam and the video intro of Elmo Lee are a win win 👍🇲🇾 🤝 🇸🇬 🙏.
Hi Mr Lee, thank you for sharing another very impressive video! My taste buds are in heaven. Luv it and would definitely try the foods👍😋🌷
Thanks Chong it's comments like tis that spurred me on

This kopitiam i have eaten before both the wan tan mee & fried kuey teow and yes they were good . I did not know that they have a long legacy .. again thank you for sharing . Looks like my weekend kopitiam drive will be there soon !
Thanks cheah please support them
Don’t forget Speedmart 99’s popularity must be affecting the supermarkets’ business too.
I stopped going to this coffee shop cos they charged tax on the drinks which not acceptable at all. But after you showing all the stalls, may consider to patron there again, thanks
Thanks for considering YK
A very good introduction from Hypermarkets to Emporiums and the initial sundry shops evolution. Nowadays - I guessed it has evolved to doing your payment yourself after shopping groceries at larger supermarkets. Great continuation on ELMO’s storyline for this epidode. Well done 👍🏽 and I learn something new too on how a wrong spelling has become a well known District - Damansara. In this episode - the Wantan mee caught my attention as it not only fulfills it’s tastiness - but also on its cleanliness. Another thing that really hits is that ‘Feng Shui Lau Lau Chuen’ ( I think in English it’s translated into ‘ what goes up must come down & vice Versa ). Thank you Elmo for a great episode and I think when we were young - we also like a good toy present from Grandma and Grandpa. In the older days in Ipoh - there’s a shop named Kok Choong Kee that sells all sorts of toys for children. DejaVu indeed. Yatt Lau 👍🏽and Mou Tak Deng 👍🏽 episode from Elmo 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Thanks choong many big brands have come and gone, basically we can’t foresee the future. Like Forrest gumps mom said “life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you gonna get”
@@malaysiafood328 One of my favorite movies in the ‘I think ‘ 80’s. 👍🏽
This morning i went to Jalan Imbi having the famous porkball noodle, when the staff tell me the price,i was totally shocked, there is RM15 per bowl, definately is my last time and won't go there anymore 😅
That was ridiculous, do stay away
Im eat somewhere in sungai besi indah near mines got a shop specialist sell pork noodle cost around rm12 perbowl is very delicious and worth for that price .. if full ingredients is rm18 is still worth for it.. very frequently eat there.. Ah hor restaurant in sunway mentari also nice but damn expensive and now pork is very expensive in market already
I always wonder why most of our Chinese food handler do not like to wear hand gloves n also like to wipe their fingers on a cloth.. 😅
In the 60s and 70s gloves were u heard of, even though they r advised to wear them now but they feel uncomfortable with their palm covered
Elmo: I love fish head noodle too. There is 1 stall in Taman Gembira, old klang road that serves very good fish head noodle. Restoran Choy Kei. So far, the best fish head noodle I have ever tried.
Another fish head noodle which is quite special and received Michelin award is in Cheras... went for it twice, so far very satisfying. The shop name is Hai Kah Lang Seafood Noodle and Fish Head Noodle
Thanks for sharing mak
These restaurant also much of my memory .. but the another end side also got nice food.. their big prawn harmee and really good jawa mee stall just new but quit famous already
Yes at the end of the road there's also good food
Thank you for taking us on a tour of our old eating haunts in KL/Selangor. You brought back to us good old memories of the wonderful Malaysian food we are missing. We are now residing in California USA for already 30 years and are in touch with Malaysia thru your channel.
Congratulations on your phenomenal work and culinary tours. 👍❤️
Thanks you my Californian friends
👍👍
👍👍👍
❤❤❤❤good
Is very hard to find parking in this area....
Yes very difficult
Should start a TikTok channel, and I'll be your early supporter lol🙂
Food for thought
EL : I must declare that KL/PJ is quite confusing with so many places having " Damansara " part of their names 🙄
An o/s visitor needs to spend a good while to sample all the various foodie haunts in KL alone 😊
U r right Harry, many developers jumped on the band wagon coz damansara as a name is very successful
The best char kuey teow 👍👍👍
Robert's CKT 😮 used his hand to take the ingredients not so hygienic
He's been doing that for years though
Hi Mr Lee, is your hair color natural with your age, is amazing.
Thanks for compliment but I dye my hair
@@malaysiafood328 haha lol, thanks for your honesty 🤗🤗🤗
See Hoy Chan developed Damansara Utama and Damansara Jaya not Damansara Kim . Damansara Kim I think was developed by Sin Hiap Lee.
Of course they did, the kopitiam I featured in tis episode used to b their sales office
Robert khoo
Robert and Ah Joo are old friends, Robert will be drinking stout with us and tell us stories. Ah Joo runs Robert;s CKT in Section 17 Pj Lucky Restaurant and many have said his morning shift helper cooks better CKT than Ah Joo hahaha
Wow adrian, u know them personally
Absolutely. The previous Indonesian worker called Ati beats Ah Joo hands down. The current Wati is not as good as Ati. Ah Joo is better than the original Robert, who's a shadow of himself. Robert has lost the enthusiasm and spark in his frying.
Restaurant keen was the name
Thanks for info
The kolo mee doesn't look appetizing to me (to me only) as I am sick of it during my stay in Kuching . I found it nothing to shout about. All my friends who are from KL visited me in Kuching, all asked me the same question, how can you survive here ? I said I hardly eat kolo mee here ... Moreover the noodle she is using is of a different type than in Sarawak . I suspect the kolo mee sellers in Kuching all are getting their supply from the same manufacturer, same design of plastic
Interesting insights. Thanks Darren
Yeah, the noodle they use for the Kolo Mee in Kuching is not this thick, The Sarawak Restaurant (Name starts with X) in DJ serves some pretty authentic Kolo Mee and Sarawak Laksa.
Restaurant Kim Wah last time known as Restaurant Kin if not mistaken. During 80s lah. Lol
Thanks tis is good info yen
It's restoran Keen.
I suppose you may visit Wan Shoon next
Food for thought
thank GOD Robert char kuih teow is still there. Was there 40years ago. Heaven taste
speaking of Kolo mee, my muslim colleague ordered a plate for himself while we were in Kuching and it's non-halal btw. He acted like nothing happened 😂 and so did I
Apparently if u take a Muslim to eat non halal food, the sin is yours
@@malaysiafood328 hahaha....it was a food court with halal food options but he wanted to try the kolo mee instead
OIC
Will be missing Aeon Sunway Pyramid for real. :(
Very sad
U can try the prawn mee mix loh mee…..
Interesting I must try
Hi Elmo, can tell us why this area got its name =Damansara Kim?Thanks
Sorry tis one I'm not sure
Roti canai plus 100 plus, beware of high sugar content
Thanks for your concern
kids nowadays have no idea what is emporium😅
Neither do they know yaohan
Still prefer Elmo introduces few shops in one episode instead of only one kopitiam......
Duly noted ivan
Should not name your video best of damansara kim. Coz only shows food from 1 coffee shop. What about other foods in the area?
No worries there will b part2
