    Regarding the stunt doubles, this was filmed before everyone had gigantic HD TVs. Back then, almost all were standard definition and most were 19" to 27" TVs that were across the room from where one was sitting.

    this battle between Buffy and Faith is still one of my favorite fights from the whole show and yeah even though you could still see the stunt doubles here and there but you can also tell the budget and choreography went up hugely from last seasons sword fight between Buffy and Angelus, not as many edits , cut outs and wide shots in this fight

    Graduation Day part 1 was another brilliant episode with the Buffy and Faith fight a super climax. We can see Faith out of control committing cold blooded murder of the Professor. We now know where Faith's knife ended up with Buffy giving it back to Faith in her gut. All this leads up to the brilliant part 2. S3 was where the show really developed into a stellar series. Interesting part where Xander pays homage to Jaws ' we are gonna need a bigger boat'. This was a brilliant Season. Enjoy part 2!

    • @ernesthakey3396
      @ernesthakey3396 Год назад

      Buffy stabbed Faith with her own knife, but I don't think we see whether she pulled it back out or not. The more likely action would have been to pull it back out, despite the earlier dialogue suggesting Buffy was "giving it back." As the reactor has already seen part 2, this isn't a spoiler for her - Buffy has the knife still, as she taunts the Mayor demon with it...

  • @ernesthakey3396
    @ernesthakey3396 Год назад +8

    Well, Faith said "you killed me" - but that was a gut wound, not immediately fatal. And slayers have rapid healing. Of course falling off a roof into a moving truck probably did some more damage...so who knows?
    At the moment we have "Schrodinger's Faith" kind of situation - neither dead nor alive until the show shows us for sure. After the "Cordelia's dead" fake-out earlier in the season, I didn't trust any death that is implied rather than clearly shown. :)

    • @Talisguy
      @Talisguy Год назад +2

      If you don't already know Faith survives the fall onto the back of the lorry (Dakara's ahead on patreon, this isn't a spoiler,) the shot of her head rolling to the side after the crash of breaking wood might make you think she broke her neck on impact. I think it was that, rather than the stab wound, that made Dakara think Faith died.

    • @ernesthakey3396
      @ernesthakey3396 Год назад +2

      @@Talisguy I never thought that myself, it just looked like an unconscious rag doll motion to me. And yeah, I wasn't worried about spoiling since she said in the reaction she was going to watch the next episode right away even before editing this one, so even if she wasn't ahead on Patreon, she basically said she couldn't be spoiled for the second part, just not to spoil next season.

    Around this time fall arcs for characters were quite common. So I predicted that faith would go bad. Not that she would join the mayor, I suspected she'd be a spike wildcard character. When she did I predicted that she would face Buffy, and that Buffy would likely win. The mayor himself was an interesting take on a villain, not my favorite that's around season 5 but he wasn't a bad one either. Position of authority, running the town on a hellmouth etc. I didn't predict the end of the season, that was well done but that's for another comment section.

    12:50 Ehm no. Not without storing blood over a weeks - There are around 10.5 pints of blood in the average human adult body, but this can vary based on factors such as a person’s age and size. It accounts for around 7-8% of an adult’s body weight. A person can lose around one pint without causing any harm to the body.

    Favorite one liner is Xander telling Cordelia that Anya is freaking out about The Ascension before Cordelia asks him if he's going to lunch.
    It doesn't matter if Faith is dead or not so much as it matters that Buffy brought the knife (instead of the tranq gun). Any blood Faith loses isn't going to Angel, so it seems Buffy brought the knife for revenge (and to taunt Faith) instead of worrying about Angel.
    I love the moment The Mayor enters the library. The tone of the scene instantly changes. Harry Groener played The Mayor brilliantly. And why wouldn't he just walk in. Snyder's afraid of him at this point and before he was afraid bowed down to his local authority/position. The Scoobies are the only ones who know who he is and could do something about it.

    The idea of using half Buffy/ half Faith is really clever. Especially when you consider that I've thought about this episode for 20 years and watched dozens of reactions and its never occurred to me or anybody I've watched. It is clever AND unique. Too many reactors spend too much time trying to "outsmart" the writers but this isn't obnoxious, its a really clever idea.

      It's not even certain that you actually need that much, remember that this is just info that they found in some old book and for obvious reasons that info was not determined in a scientific way with multiple tests so for all we know it was simply a case of a Vampire being poisoned by this and (s)he accidentally killed and drained the blood of a Slayer and was cured thus it was written into a book later as the only known cure.

    It was kinda obvious for me that a big fight scene between Buffy and Faith was unavoidable at this point. Though, I think I had expected it for the last episode, not this one. That's kinda the only thing I could have foreseen about this season finale back when I was discovering S3. That said, I wasn't much a "predicting what's gonna happen", and more a "enjoying the moment" kind of viewer.

    No mixed messages if you were LGBTQ in that era. (none of this is official) Faith has been low key flirting with Buffy this whole time, while also showing Buffy that boys will never be worth more than a quick roll in the hay. In fact, Faith's play for Angel could be seen as a way to show Buffy that even the most devoted guy will stray so they're not worth it. I ship Buffy and Faith, but not as much as I do Buffy and someone else later in the show... although, the thought of them as a "thruple" is kinda exciting.
    I watched the show as it aired so I was pretty sure it was renewed, so I knew they would beat The Mayor but no idea how. The poison thing came as an absolute surprise, but it gave us the awesome Buffy vs Faith fight so no complaints. I do think they kinda rushed Willow and Oz, but I also think they wanted to leave us with the idea that anyone could die except Buffy so they were tying up loose ends so the audience would believe it.
    Also, did anyone else notice that Anya's waffling here reminds you of someone else waffling in season 6 episode 7?
