Interesting kit. It'd make one of them a fair amount more peppy to drive, considering it's quadrupling the HP. Also thought it was funny how he was trying to demonstrate the shifter, but the camera cut to the shifter in the vehicle.
I absolutely love the idea retro conversion kit for a classic car. Techie question "does you Kit allow for a Park Mechanism being applied the the drive train, rather just relying on the park brake only?
I do agree with your comment. However, I do like the very neat replacement for the Fiat 500s original Speedometer, but there was never a mention with regards to the number of miles covered. I did not see an Odometer Function. Did I miss this? It's really important.
my mother in laws 1960's 500 is sitting in the basement garage in Rome waiting for somethign like this - obvious two questions are cost and who can/needs to fit the kit - presume its not a diy kit with all the hv?
Will this kit fit in a manual 2012 fiat 500 twin air? My engine has metal in the twin air 0.9 turbo, but this would be awesome. What’s the torque on this electric kit/
If those battery packs get any more energy dense, you could get the boot back. But till then, I don't think people refitting old Fiats really care that much about the lost space.
One question why don’t you offer one that connect to automatic gear would the gears not give you a faster 0-60 and faster top end. Pls excuse me if I am being an idiot while I understand the basics of electric cars I am coming from a history of ICE vehicles and truly don’t know. That said this car and kit looks awesome. I would love one for a Volvo es1800 maybe a 75
Yes, a bit of a faux pas so early in the video! Otherwise it seems like a good presentation. Missing the cost, mind? And details of how it is integrated into the car would have been useful?
Terrible, i only use my fiat the odd weekends and only at the summer, how will the battery hold not having cycle charging. These cars never be used as a daily driver
I have to disagree im afraid. Why anyone would put a battery into a classic car like this, is beyond my understanding. Its not a classic 595, fiat 650, alfa twin cam, or anything else remotely similar, unless you get the sound of the ice and the smell from the carbs. This is just driving a retro toaster. EVs have their place. As i mostly drive within a 15miles radius for work, i would use one in a heartbeat. This though, this is sacrilegious
Well, I think this is a point of debate/discussion which will ware on for decades. Going by what is known, EVs are 'not' the saviours of the planet and the more that time passes, the more this appears to be true. In my view, appreciating fully that this is only my view , replacing a tiny petrol engine with a electric motor serves no purpose, other than the cost of this, to the supplier. If we take this wee car is particular, what's it going to do; 1000, maybe 1500 mls per year. Probably less! Almost all the fiat 500 or similar cars that attend Italian Day, for eg, have their cars on a trailer. So I ask again, what's the point?
@@psircos slightly speculative conjecture perhaps.. with the conversion why do you think it would be limited to 3-5 miles a day? with your 15 mile trip you would easily hit 3500+ and be capable of 10k easily. it will also go faster and quieter than the original.. parts will also now be easier to source when they are needed, but the failure rates are tiny compared to classic ice. :D An EV this small you could easily power of a very cheap small solar setup. 15 miles will be only 4 kwh (and just 28p total on night tarrifs) 4kw of panels is only £600 right now, so just 1 hour of full sun!!
😂....not speculative at all. I own an Italian car. I go to Italian car days/shows. People don't drive these things a great distance! One very small example...brakes are rubbish! You wanna go and make them faster?? So, not only are you paying for the electrification, you also want to upgrade everything else! These are NOT modern cars, but by electrifying them, you suggest they are more usable, which is not the case.

Exactly. A modular chassis and body panels…great idea.
I hope we see a lot more of these bolt-in kits for classic cars in the future.
governments should subsidise them if climate change was real
Here in Wales, with 20mph speed limits everywhere, this is the perfect conversion.
This is really cool to see. Revitalize old cars that would otherwise be taken off the road. Would love to see a high horsepower build in one of these

Should the motor be 44kW, not 44kWh? KWh implies storage of energy which a motor isn’t capable of. :)

That system would be quite suitable for an 850 Sport Coupe, wouldn’t it?
I too would like to know if this kit works well in an 850 Sport Coupe.

If those battery packs get any more energy dense, you could get the boot back. But till then, I don't think people refitting old Fiats really care that much about the lost space.
The battery pack takes the place of the fuel tank that was in the boot, so you don't lose a lot of space.
how much?

Electric motors are too powerful for automatic transmissions.
@@89five3five yarrrr that old transmission is gonna become a nice metal slushie if you attach a big new motor to it lol.

Many EV conversion people have essentially no understanding of basic science, so they don't realize that nonsense like this is wrong.
Yes, a bit of a faux pas so early in the video! Otherwise it seems like a good presentation. Missing the cost, mind? And details of how it is integrated into the car would have been useful?
If it doesn't need a clutch, and it runs through a locked gear box why not just attach it directly into the differential?
reverse maybe
the diff is in the gearbox
