When you're old (I mean "really old") with less finger strength, and with arthritic fingers, that's when you'll really come to appreciate this bass. Mine is in black cherry (dark red).

Really interesting sound; Looks like the length does a lot. Sounds like the pressure goes with the sustain a bit more even with the highest notes. Perfect to get some vintage vibes and for solos but I fear I'd miss those lower and higher frequencies the long scales have. yeahhh I don't feel like it's a must have, I'm more into other models but I keep those infos in mind 😊

Man, the backlog list of Spector basses that I *HAVE* to get is getting really long…

By the way: according to the website, the 4-string is 30", the 5-string 32"

That is correct! Bantam 4 is a 30" short scale and the Bantam 5 is a 32" medium scale instrument.

I played a 30" 4 string bantam at GC. The top looks nice, but the neck feels super cheap. Would not recommend for the price.

In my opinion the most important thing is, that this bass still has a certain amount of that special Spector Growl every "normal"-scale-player is used to! The second thing is, that these basses are not a cheap equipped shrinked version of their bigger brothers! Sadly this "gnomes" are built without the carved back of the body nowadays like every of their bolt-ons ... I often wonder why?!

I was actually saving up for a Spector Bantam, I had no idea it's actually medium scale despite them referring to it as short scale lol :(

4 string is short scale (30"), 5 is medium scale (32")

can there be a video about the mike kroeger signature short scale bass? i've always wanted one of those, but they hard to get.. it's actually kind of similar to that bass you're playing..

I picked up an ns2000/5 last year bc the price is solid for the quality. Between the usa and euro versions i'm not going to be able to afford either.
I got the korean built ones from the early 00's.

they make the 4 string in lefty but they do not make the 5 string. Sad and disappointed.
