Just got back from my 7 day trip to southern florida, My first ever snook was a nice 30 incher in a freshwater discharge near Boynton Beach...

Great fish. Have someone take you out at night with a live mullet. You can catch some 20 to 30 lb snooks. Great video as always. Hit new river in fort Lauderdale Florida. Daina cut off at night to early morning. Find the hot water output from the power plant. You will know.

13:55 those snook are so timid because of the dolphins that are there. ive hooked a snook that was about 18 inches and had a dolphin eat the snook while it was still on my line and spool my entire 200 yard reel in about 5 seconds. when we flats fish we have to release the snook in the mangroves because if you release it off the side of your boat dolphins will eat it right out of your hand. this is englewood/stump pass florida not the everglades but there are lots of dolphins in the everglades and they’re know to go into the shallows to hunt mullet. just a theory but yea
Nice theres nothing like sight fishing in the everglades i took a 3 year hiatus but live down here and just put a deposit down on a 2020 hpx and picked up 8 and 12 wt fly rods im so stoked to get back down there and real far south. Next time come down for tarpon season its too much fun throwing flies at laid up 100lb fish with their tails out the water.
When the mangroves and back bays are hot it’s tough to beat. Such a fun way to fish, love it.

3:09 you should use a wire trace the teeth on predatory fish will not break the wire and the wire is usually painted or coated in a colour that will blend in with the water.

Awesome video man! I got the chance to visit the Everglades for a college class and it was amazing too bad I didn’t get to fish it. I’m leaving a comment though for an idea of a small but good fishing trip, if you’d want to try it. I don’t know how familiar you are with the Appalachian region but I’m from East Ky, and we have a canyon here known as the Breaks interstate park which is on the border of KY and VA. It’s got great trout and smallie fishing, but on top of that adventuring into the canyon is insane. I promise their is some views that is just incredible. If you’d be down, I could show you around the area and take you into the canyon, get some great fishing done. If your interested just let me know on here and I can give you my email and we can make it happen.
