Old farmer trick. Been doing that for years. We have a length of fence where the neighbour's trees get blown over. Use this trick a few times per year, after wind storms.

First time I saw my grandpa do this, was in 1969. He learned it from his dad. We still use it today.

As a kid in the 70s and 80s we fixed fences like this many times. Maybe next we can highlight how to use a rotary phone?

Grew up doing this. Sometimes with sticks if you were bringing cows in and saw a spot needing repaired or tightened. Funny to see it on you tube. Common sense isn't "common" if folks haven't seen it be4. Thanks for sharing.

I have been doing the same trick for years using smooth twist wire. Just use duble the wire. Feed the end threw one loop and string enough threw so you can reach the other loop and hammer, with the two ends. The rest is basically the same as shown.

My Dad taught me that 50 years ago,he alled it the hammer head draw, use 2 stand smooth wire or doubled baling wire makes a stonger splice, you can 2point barbed wire you will need to cut the barbs out so the wire will slip through the wire loop

Normal y if is Broken you dont have all that metal wire to play with, because It was supose to be tense before no? Anyways the trick its quite practical.

This isn't a new I'm 50 my dad thought me when I was 12,and I know that it's been used for many generations before me so how is it a trick when all you did is stretched the wire tight by applying tension you probably should have worn gloves tho, just in case..safety 1st is better than the injuries that can possibly get or have happened

Nothing, and I mean nothing is as good at protecting your home as a single barbed wire fence! The utter simplicity is why makes it so astounding at defending your home! Forget adding electricity or extra wire, that stuffs for nerds. Just one. You’ll sleep soundly after knowing that you and your family are safe. 👍
