  • In today's video we shop for clothes, food and visit multiple restaurants in Antalya Turkey. We show you where to shop to find the deals and prices to expect when visiting this beautiful city. The city of Antalya is a bustling beach city of 2,500,000, which is a popular tourist destination, as well as a year round favorite Expat location. The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,550 a month, and a couple on Social Security receives over $2,500 a month. Ms. Greene spends around $800.00 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a great standard of living in Turkey when compared to the living costs in the US.
    Currently Turkey is a tremendous value for Expats with income from abroad, the exchange rate when this vide was made was 13.6 Turkish Lira to the US Dollar.

    The enjoyable thing about your videos is that you take the time to display the prices. It gives your viewers the chance to see how affordable a place is. Right about now Turkey really appears tantalizing both as a tourist and a resident wannabe. In a way you two are good ambassadors in promoting Turkey. I just can’t get enough and I wish you could show more of your tours.

    When we visit Turkey, we buy a lot of clothing and dried fruits to take back to the US. Our favorite clothing stores are LC Waikiki, Kip, Mado, Adil Işik, Network, Yargici, Ipek Yol. Dried fruits stores are Malatya Pazari, Tuğba, Ağam, etc. Everything is quality cheap and great service. Everything is so good that we make two trips per year to Turkey. We don’t waste our time and money anymore going to any other place in Europe or the US. BTW, we are not originally from Turkey.

We have a small dog Yorkie which is 6 years old and weights about 6 pound, we are thinking about traveling to Turkey, do you think our dog can take the 13 hours flight from Los Angeles to Istanbul? Did you have any difficulties finding a place to stay with your dogs? Please share your experience with us specially you have 2 dogs. Thanks

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  2 года назад

      I just saw your email, I’ll paste my response here also:
      How long do you plan to spend in Turkey? If it’s a short trip you may not want to go through the travel hassle. You need to contact a USDA vet and get your pet an international health certificate for Turkey specific requirements. We brought our dogs through Serbia and obtained EU pet passports in Bulgaria for them, we have been crossing land borders ever since. I’d only bring your Yorkie if it’s allowed in the cabin. Unfortunately Arya has grown since we left Ecuador and came to Europe, cabin flights are no longer options for her, so we stay on the ground driving through Europe. We’ll only fly her if it’ll be a long duration to another continent. She has a fear of extreme darkness and would be a basket case if put in cargo.
      Anyhow, I hope this helps.
      Best,
      Warren

    What are the temps now? In your opinion, other than seasonal temps, could you comment on likes/dislikes( overall comparison) between Antalya and Manta, Ecuador. I've been studying and preparing to retire to Manta for near 10 years. But now, in the last year, I've been investigating Antalya. And I must say, other than the kitchens and temp fluctuation, Antalya is changing my mind. Thoughts on the ground, if you have time, or a commentary video? Thanks for sharing your life.

    • @WarrenJulieTravel
      @WarrenJulieTravel  2 года назад +2

      I suggest you visit both. Both countries are nice with very different realities. Speaking specifically to Manta compared to Antalya, I think Antalya is safer, cheaper, has better infrastructure, and great cuisine options. The weather in the winter is typically in the 50’s but we’ve had some 70+ days recently as well as some low 40’s. I think Manta will be hotter than Antalya 8 months of the year, with the Antalya Summer being hotter. The Manta beach will have waves and some softer sand, it’s a personal choice to make. Turkey has greatly exceeded my expectations to be honest.

    Turks love to negotiate with price if the price is 100 lira you say 50 they say 80 and you negotiate to 65, that is in turkish culture i know that for you that is odd

      Yeah, honestly it feels weird haggling for such low priced items. Give me a fair price for what I need and I’ll pay it. The vendor needs to make a living, but I want to pay the same price as the next person.

      If you go to the stores where normal people shop, you will get quality products at the price it deserves. If you shop in the tourist areas of Barcelona, Paris, London or any city, you will always overpay. We went on a vacation to France, at a cosmetics store in Paris, when I handed the seller the money on the price tag, my friend spoke Turkish. Realizing that we were tourists, the seller demanded more money from us, saying that this price is not for tourists.

      Ne alakası var kardeşim ?. LC Waikiki'den, Zara'dan veya adidas'tan alışveriş yapınca pazarlık mı yapıyorlar ?. Turistlerin gittiği yerlerden alışveriş yaptıkları için dolandırılıyorlar. En kalitesiz, en ucuz malı en yüksek fiyattan alıyorlar. Bu durum dünyanın her yerinde aynı. Turistik mağazalar zaten kayıt dışı, faturasız satış yapıyorlar, vergi ödemiyorlar ki. Ayrıca paraya ihtiyacı var dediğin adamlar milyonlar kazanıyor.

      It’s actually been a cold January here. We had some warm sunny days, but we also had the first snow here in 29 years. Most the day of this video was near freezing.
