    Alan Ladd was the King of Noir for a while. Blue Dahlia is my favorite. Alan was a Big Man in many ways and an alumnus of my Alma Mater, North Hollywood High School!!

    Excellent video. A real piece of class. I always thought he had blond hair, and in Shane his hair is blond. The studio always try to control their stars, which is why Elvis had to dye his blond hair black. I love the empathy you have for the stars you talk about. Total class.

    Good Bio on Alan Ladd. Always liked him ( Humphrey Bogart is my favorite though)At 5:18 Amazing to think even though they were both good-looking, Alan Ladd was only five foot 6 and Veronica lake was only four foot eleven in height. Both Good actors too though. Alan Ladd was unforgettable in the movie "Shane" of course and I liked some of his other movies as well! Thanks for the upload.

    GOOD GRIEF .... Veronica Lake was taller than 4 feet - she was 5 ft 2 in. How stupid do you think we are? I would never have considered Alan Ladd short! He was beautiful to look at, what a shame he didn't have more self respect.

    I am a huge Alan Ladd fan. I've got his picture all over my apartment. He could dance and sing with a beautiful voice and a graceful talent. You did not show the films where he sings and dances and you did not mention that he suffered from depression. If he had been born later, he would be alive today, because depression is treatable. Otherwise, it is terrific that you made a video about him, because he is my very favorite.

    🤔 I believe until Top Cruise came along in the 1980s .Alan Ladd was the shortest male 👨 actor to ever work as a leading man in Hollywood?....

    • @guerralg63
      @guerralg63 Год назад +1

      Well, James Cagney was 5'5" , but he didn't lack self-esteem for certain! Neither did Charlie Chaplin also at 5'5"!! I think Alan Ladd probably didn't like confrontation and was mild mannered, so he probably had a hard time fighting back against the criticism and poor treatment. At least his wife believed in him.

    Most stars did (do) have insecurities! That’s why they like playing other people. No wonder so many died from drugs, alcohol and suicide. They go in insecure and get treated like a slab of meat and constantly told what is wrong with them! What a horrible life

    I don't think his height was the problem. James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, John Garfield and Spencer Tracy were all short. He went down hill when his drinking got out of control and destroyed his handsomeness. Same thing happened to Errol Flynn. Ladd was short, but athletic. Had he continued to work out, his career would have lasted longer. He continued playing tough guys when he no longer looked it. He made a big mistake leaving Paramount. Westerns and noirs were his specialty. Swashbucklers weren't. He also had bad luck in that he was considered for "Bad Day At Black Rock" which would have been perfect for him and he'd have been better than Spencer Tracy, who looked too old. George Stevens also wanted him for the part of Jett Rink in "Giant". Perhaps Ladd didn't want the part because the part was too much like what his life had become.

    Age of Vintage typically does a great job delineating the inner demons of Hollywood's stars. However, it is well documented that Mr. Ladd was a closet case, which would have married nicely with the theme of insecurity.
