  • Though I show how I use my solar power. Its not the best but its how I use what I got. This is 1600 watts at 12 volts. Today 2/28/13 I was getting 85.1 amps going into my battery bank. The battey bank is 16 twelve volt 100ah batteries. I run my whole house on solar with the exception of 240 volt items, stove ect. Hope you like
    Here is a link to my wind turbine

    this set up is like mine on the fences.
    absolute gem of a solar array. morbidly i get very exited having the sun centering on my panels and my meters get a serious boot up the arse. FREE POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!

    You see like an intelligent person with a lot invested in money and self education. I enjoyed your video, but I have to make a critical suggestion. That is that you never run your panels directly into the battery bank. Your voltage output is too high to consider it CCCV healthy. Plenty of 100 amp controllers on the market to take care of your total needs. Better to spend that money now, than on prematurely failed batteries.

    You, my friend, are doing exactly what I want to do. Just awesome.
    I live in NJ and we currently rent but, God willing, we will own a house in the next year or so. In NJ, electric is incredibly expensive. If it's even possible to knock down electric usage by 10%, this would be totally worth it. Excellent setup and explanation. Thanks man.

      fuertesyrobustos True but the dryer helps save time, plus makes the clothes look and feel nicer. If I had all of that at my house all on solar, especially in the kitchen like that, it would never be a problem to pay the electric company for using the dryer. Thanks for running us through your rad setup! Your family should be proud. Wish you would have toured us through your chosen battery bank products... Im sure youve researched enough about batteries by now! Point of contention, Im a little disturbed by your green plastic "cook pot". You deserve the best, get yourself something made of glass instead of fluorescent plastic. Most of all, even if u keep the plastic "cook pot", please get yourself a glass pull, never use a metal or plastic one.
    And strongly consider a solar powered vaporiser... why use gas? Vapor Brothers makes good wood and bamboo products from well resourced forests.

      EG Murray Hi Murray, I'm a little confused. what green cook pot? there on the kitchen counter is a stainles and black rice steamer. maybe it was the poor lighting.

    • @e.g.m6598
      @e.g.m6598 9 лет назад

      I was referring, as delicately as possible, to your green bong. You deserve better than to imbibe all that nastily decaying, BPA, etc plastic. Excessive heat and excessive cold (ice cubes) all further an already non-ideal experience. If you're not a juvenile boy, than get a real glass piece with a non metal (ceramic or solid glass) pull already.

    85. 1 amps x by 12.7 volts = 1080 watts that's with the 20% loss factored in. Ever time you hook a panel in parallel you add the Amps so the main wire that carries the Amps has to be big enough to handle that Amp each panel is producing 6 amps and 19 panels would make 114 amps on a sunny day and more at -40f because of voltage increase in cold weather voltage could increase by 1.2% which increases the wattage which makes up for some of the 20% loss. Who says solar panels make less power in winter was wrong they make more in cold weather but have less sun time that is the only reason for loss.

    • @pgm98387
      @pgm98387 9 лет назад +2

      ***** I watched the video again, he has a manual switch to disconnect the panels that are directly wired to the batteries. Some types of charge controllers (my xantrex c40) have the optional dump load. I think its more commonly used for a wind turbine.

    • @adamyaw
      @adamyaw 9 лет назад +2

      One of the coolest ideas I've seen people do is to replace 1 or both elements in their hot water tank and with the "dump" load (excess power when batteries are full) and they use that to preheat or heat their hot water fully if they have enough panels that it's common. Farmers use it for just that a lot also. Or straight to a smaller inverter thatd charge your Dewalt cordless etc? Even a 12volt bilge pump to water your garden w a rain water tank. Just had to be something that won't need a ton of power and that doesn't need to be consistent
