That was so annoying all the people opening up Japanese cards pretending they cared man people are really wack sometimes lol just can’t truly be who they are have to put on a front
A good chunk of vintage Japanese has been pretty stagnant in price. Lately I’ve had a great time filling out B&W era full arts in Japanese, really solid deals and prices to snag
Two major things happened. The COVID hype died down and the Japanese economy turned down. I think when their economy turns around these cards will gain back some of what they lost but not even close to all. That $325 Iono from Clay Burst will not get back to $1200 but Maybe $500 to $600. people that had to sell to pay bills and feed their family will want that card back at a fraction of the cost and we will see a market correction. It is good time to buy the big hit cards and sealed boxes especially Japanese 151.
I've been enjoying the calm reset on Japanese prices. It's been super fun to buy boxes in mass and getting big hits graded. The secondary market has been fairly healthy for Japanese cards at the moment.
Shoutout to all the hypebeasts who lost a ton of money chasing the bag! Never bet against reprints & only buy cards that you want/like. If you like it, it'll get more valuable over time naturally if you care about retaining the price you paid. Just imo don't touch cards in the first 2 years of a set when possible (after at least 1 round of reprints). Real talk too, I'm really enjoying being able to rip early SV Era super cheap now! Didn't get to open much because of prices initially, so able to go through and collect what I like & rip at a reasonable price. If you bought cards when they were inflated and they're "worth less" now, just ask yourself this: Do I still like the card? If so, then who the fuck cares. The "loss" is only when you sell AND you can consider it a couple cents a day to have something you like. Just keep what you like, sell/trade what you don't like, and don't focus on prices because they change all the time. What doesn't change though? The card.
Unfortunately some of the Japanese SM trainers are still too expensive for me 😓 collecting their English and simplified Chinese versions tho has been great, the acerola from English burning shadows is great
Japanese for some of them are still and probably are gonna remain pricy unfortunately… just the nature of some of them now 😕 other languages are pretty great
I'm so glad the Japanese hype cooled down because now I can get some of the cards I've always wanted at a more fair price. Ever since I've discovered Japanese, I've been wanting more of it! I even just recently got the Dachsbun ex SAR from Stellar Miracle along with the full art and regular ex ones for less than $30! Definitely picking up the Cassiopeia SAR next!😊
Had 2 Lillies Full Force from packs and graded both. After fighting with myself i sold the PSA 10 and kept the 9 for my collection. Gotta say im happy now bc i made a mint and still have the card at a 9 for my collection.
Pretty cool you kept screenshots of the pumped prices. I think most saw this coming but it really drives the point home with the side by side comparisons of last year's and current prices.
Honestly I'm hoping attention stays away from Japanese for a while lol. I've got a lot of cards I want to buy and while I don't think they will become super chased anytime soon, better to keep any hype away. There's plenty of expensive cards to chase as is
In my opinion part of the reason why a lot of the Japanese cards have fallen in price is the recent reprint of the Japanese most recent sets. I feel that has cooled the entire Japanese market significantly. Love japanese cards and have collected a few full art trainers that I really enjoy as well as nearly having a master set of the English full art trainers.

Sun & Moon Full Art Trainers > SWSH/SV. I miss the unquie texture patterns that full art trainers used to have. Maybe gen 10 will bring it back.
I recently got the Miriam SIR in English in a PSA 10. Love that card. I also love Pokemon cards in Japanese (I got the Magikarp in Japanese because the English version is way too expensive in a PSA 10). Cheers! 🤘🏻

As someone who gets their cards graded when they pull them, it would be dumb for you to go with English over Japanese. I have just got back my order from PSA 73 cards were sent in. 25 japanese and 48 English. All pack fresh within the margin of error for centering. 24 of the 25 JPN received 10s the other was a 9... 22 of 48 English cards were 10s, 23 of 48 were 9s, 2 were 8s, and 1 was a 7. I dont care if its less for the same artwork, i will never buy an English product again until they fix quality control. ALL CARDS WERE PULLED BY ME AND PLACED INTO SLEEVE & CARD SAVER. Purchased a centering tool and all were within margin. Sealed English product is the only thing worth it.
