What became disapointing to me was having watched the Green Hornet and not recognizing B. Lee in Enter the Dragon in 1973 and MOST disapointing was learning that he died days before the film became public. What a unmeasurable loss.

Though Bruce thought the role was too subservient. It did open door for him as a actor, helped pay the bills and he is playing a superhero!!!
The show should have lasted another season.

The original Kato was portrayed by an actor named Keye Luke. In the 1940s. He also played Charlie Chan's no.1son Lee. Later he on to play the blind master Po in the King Fu t.v. series. He also has a star on the Hollywood walk of Fame.

I know this isn't why you shared this, but it does say so much about the credibility you hold, regarding Bruce Lee. You keep it real, and honor his legacy. Thanks so much for sharing this footage. It's like reaching back in time to Kato himself. (If you're ever looking for restoration sources, I recommend the people with The Criterion Collection. The best.)

Not to burst your bubble on its rarity, but a buddy of mine was given this same reel back in 1982 by an executive at 20th Century Fox. along with the outtakes (There are a lot more) plus additional footage ( Bruce's Hornet tv promos including his mistakes on those commercials) and the uncut screen test in sharp mint quality. He made me a print that I had on VHS. I had at the time what many considered the largest private collection of Lee material in the world. Martial Arts Movie magazine were one of a few who did articles on me back in 1981. I had been collecting since 1972. I decided in 1994 it was time to share the collection with the world. I approached Heather Holmberg Collectibles at that time and she set up a Hollywood auction. It went extremely well and sold for close to $100,000. I also had all the original backyard footage of Bruce ( Much more then people see on the internet today ) it was transferred from Bruce's original footage. So some collector has it in the world. Hopefully it will show up someday. Remember, I had all this before the internet was around so it was not shown to anyone back then except a few close Lee collectors I knew in Southern California.

Green Hornet is not the reason for Bruce Lee's success; Bruce Lee is the reason For Bruce Lee's success. Put that man anywhere on the planet and his destiny was still going to be a world renowned; beloved superstar. He lived an extraordinary short life. A deep thinker; a principled person; and an incredible student of the martial arts! Was he a "master?" Sure but I think even he would admit that his pursuit of personal growth made him a lifelong student of...well; *LIFE!* I have a deep admiration for this man that I shall carry with me until I take my last breath!

Bruce Lee was my favorite on Wing Chun/Jeet Kun Do/Chinese Boxing. He disapproved of the step by step motions in fighting arts instructions and just believed in one swift motion, to take out your opponents. The real fast and furious, damaging take downs. 👊🏻💥😵‍💫😵

During the fight scenes the director had Bruce slow down because his usual speed was too fast. In the 1940's movie serials Kato was played by Keye Luke who also played Master Po, the blind Shaolin monk in the 1970's TV series Kung Fu.

A good actor, and a most under used character. Kato, (Lee) should have had a bigger role in appearances even not in the fighting scenes, but in general. This would have been and excellent hour-long show.

“Kung Fu ‘s Kung Fu. Star child’s play.”- Kato Batman episode Batman’s Satisfaction.
The episode on The Green Hornet that is my all time favorite is Invasion From Outer Space. It was like a Batman storyline but it was very dark and violent.
The episode when a Tong was being infiltrated by gangsters and Kato fights Mako was classic. Another favorite.
There was an episode where someone tried to frame The Green Hornet using a replica of the Black Beauty. There is a battle between the two Black Beautys.
The Green Hornet was more serious than Batman because people were killed/ murdered on most episodes of the show.
In the Green Hornet movie, released after Bruce Lee died there were outtakes in that film to maintain continuity. Fight scenes were extended a little. Extra dialogue was added. It was said that another Green Hornet film was released but not on dvd or a Blu Ray.
