Peter, this sermon was exactly what I needed to hear, feel, and internalize this week. i consulted Christ, and He *was* watching me. Because I knew what He hoped I would do, I chose my path. Responding to Christ first before responding to any other person is kind of like engaging the clutch before trying to interact with the road at a different level of intensity. Rough ride otherwise!
lol I love this. I used to say this to my step dad. If I answered him back, he would say.. go read Ephesians 6:1 and I would say go read 6:4. You explain it so well x
I also liked the way you explained EPH.6:5. It explains the word "slaves" being in the bible very well, Thank you. As a young girl I knew what the commandment "Honor your Father and Mother" meant. No matter what the other girl were doing if I knew it was wrong...............that commandment put me right back on the right path!!! And many time I may said....................Thank you
What if your parents did not raise you in the way you should go? Christ took their place in my heart at age 15. Things haven't gone well in my family ever since. They blame Christ for that.
Then you are in good company! Jesus did not come to bring peace. (At least, not the first time he came!) He came to bring division between those who follow him and those who do not - even within our own families!
Psalm 27:10 says, "When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up." I know this may not bring instant comfort, but pray over that verse. God has taken you up!! With God, you are the majority. Yes, it hurts to be forsaken by the ones that you love, I know, my family has nothing to do with me. My mother threatened to have me arrested for harassment for inviting her to church. She has even told me to go to hell. Keep praying for their salvation. One day they will die, let us pray that they do not die without Christ. A little suffering makes you a stronger Christian. Thank the Lord for His mercy and grace for allowing you this opportunity to grow in Him. I know it is hard, it breaks your heart. Just keep praying. The Bible says it is not His will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Keep witnessing and praying; perhaps one day they too will come to Christ. I just prayed for you all.
