ahhhh, so nice to hear the good Kenny on sax........Sing a Song of Song... I love Kenny's Songbook album and love his whole band... ... every single one of them... Kenny Kirkland, Tain Watts and Nat Reeves... beautiful choice to display this...
These videos are my favorite find of the summer. Videos like this give me extreme gratitude to the RUclips music education universe. A musician from my small town in Maine could go their entire lives without ever having the opportunity to learn from such knowledgeable musicians.
Adam has bill evans posture, Bill's glasses, Chick Corea 's build ( circa 2009) and McCoy Tyner's thinking face. And of course, I'm always happy to see DeBoo!
Many songs I love have these lines. Footprints by Wayne Shoter, Spain, Warna by Joey Alexander, off course, geatest "Sing a song of song". Those smell like soil I think. I call these bass line "Sound of Ground".
Adam and Peter PLEASE do a "what makes this album great?" podcast about Songbook. It might be my favorite modern jazz album, the tunes are just so damn good and the band is absolutely on fire. And Kenny Kirkland never sounded better
This reminds me of a improvising lesson of Jesus Molina, just do 5th on the left and run melody on the right, several minutes a day. It's basic but really a big thing for a starter.
When I got to highschool I started learning Jazz. I got to a standards band but this song was the first we’ve played. It means a lot to me. You guys have made my day
Stacked 5ths are 1/5/9/13/etc…. For me 9s are super dope. 13, delicious. I could roll around in those all day. A rock group Hum uses this with heavy fuzz distortion on “Green to Me”. We all love jazz here but there are more styles :). This is space rock.!
Got that Bill Evans posture at the end lol
Love the work fellas!
Was gonna come make the same comment 😂
😂😂
Ree tard posture ya ya ya
bruh we need an album of this trio
I would pay money for this
absolutely second this
Yep. Giving me some GoGo Penguin vibes
Yes. We. Do.

Just a compilation of the audio from your RUclips shorts would dominate streaming platforms everywhere.
You guys sound good together. I'd love to hear an album.
So simple, but it sounds soooo good!! Huge thanks to Bob for opening up my eyes to the world of bass.
One of my favorite examples of a band doing just this, is Yellowjackets 'Indigo' off their Four Corners album. Awesome stuff!
“Indigo” from the Yellowjackets album Four Corners is a great example of using spread triads with inversions. Great track with a great bass line
Great point!
Love this song and that album...thanks for breaking down the bass line. Amazing
I forgot who said it, but
“Bass is responsible not only for rhythm, but harmonic function as well”
Practice On, gents.
