- Mystery in Cisco Grove: Don Shrum’s Encounter with UFOs, Aliens and Robots
In September 1964, Captain McLeod and Sergeant Barnes were dispatched from Wright-Patterson Air Force base in Ohio. They were sent to investigate a UFO sighting in Northern California.
Wright-Patterson AFB got lots of UFO reports. 99% of them could be explained. And a sizeable percentage of those sightings were hoaxers looking for attention.
The other 1% were classified as UFOs and sent on to Project Blue Book. What happened from there, McLeod didn't know. The fact that he was being sent to the other side of the country meant this sighting was important to the Air Force.
McLeod had a copy of the teletyped report from the UFO tracking office. It was stamped with an unusual "Priority" notification. It read:
"UFO landing with entities reported by missile technician in Tahoe NF, Sacramento. Orders: Investigate and contain via usual protocols ASAP."
McLeod's first step was to interview the witness. And, even after 17 years as an investigator, this was strangest UFO story he'd ever heard.

Don Shrum was my uncle. Thank you for telling his story. He was such an introvert that hated the attention this brought him. We used to beg him to tell us what happened that cold night in the forrest. When I was all of 5 or 6 he rounded up my cousins and I to tell us the full story. He said he would only tell it once and to never ask him again. It’s amazing to watch this video now that I’m in my 50s and to remember so many details uncle Don shared. He was a great man!
@@MikeS-um1nm I believe his story. His family was affected by this event as I believe Don Shrum had some PTSD as a result of the experience. He did not drink, smoke pot, or any of that nonsense ! The truth is he was a Pentecostal elder in his church and ET's was the last thing on his mind or heart !!!

My biggest problem with this story is that he kept shooting arrows at the robot instead of the two beings controlling it.
And the fact the only way an arrow is traveling as fast as a gun is if the gun is black powder pistol.

I have loved many RUclips videos and liked a lot of channels but I have never loved a RUclips channel this much before.the quality is unmatched, the content is superb and the dialogue is unmatched. I have looked forward to every episode since I found this channel and I will continue my love and support for as long as you are going.
What people don't give enough credit to this channel is its replay value aspect: there's endless videos that I always watch and discover/remember new details.

Sorry, no. This channel is great for laughs but for the stories I find most compelling, TWF is a relatively shallow dive. I can't recall anything stated here that I hadn't already heard and usually there's much left out.

I am telling the absolute truth when I say I knew Don Shrum, his wife & children and was able to ask him questions, look at his scrapbook, hear the entire story multiple times over many years. He was dearly loved by his family and friends. Trustworthy !
I heard this story (event account) 25 years before any book was written directly from him, with his scrapbooks. If I remember correctly he also said one of the reasons he did not speak of it was a visit from Men In Black. He was a family man and his family precious to him. Protecting his family was his main concern.

I grew up really close to this location, I can't adequately explain or convey how many weird lights and other things I've seen all around the greater area. My friends and I became so desensitized that when we saw strange lights we would point them out to each other and then act like "it's just another Tuesday". I've only seen a handful of things in Tahoe itself but if you head east (into the Nevada desert) the bigger, weirder and more frequent the lights and objects become. It's quite spectacular.
Same! But I always heard stories about “the ridge” in my small town . I camped at Cisco many times as well and spent almost every weekend wheeling on fordyce. I never awoke anything out there. But there are a couple spots around that mt which have crazy energy and I don’t usually stay in those spots . So your story tells me why it was wierd I guess
Yup my too we work for cal fire up in that area all the time with NEU we seen lights out there on midnight calls but would never officially report it for this exact reason

The best part of this channel is having started watching something that you think you had missed only to find out you have seen it. Then you realize you want to watch it again only to find out that although you are a huge fan, you still missed something and are so glad you are watching it again. 100% agree, i would chalk it up to lying if he had tried to gain anything from it or deny it after it had ruined his life. would chalk it up to crazy if there wasn't another witness during a moonless night. leads me to believe 1 of two things actualy happened
he went crazy for a bit but hid the signs of it from everyone in his life up to that point and the other guy was lying about what he had seen, or someone or something was running an experiment on him based on fear of what people thought visitors from space would look like at that time.
given the things our government has done in the past i don't rule out either situation, i find it odd that so many people gave his story credit.
Intergalactic vehicles but dang it: they can't climb trees. In conclusion buy a ladder for an alien invasion. Solved.

I personally prefer sativa. I'm 25 and Australian bush is what we call it mainly because guerrilla growers and old timers grow it naturally in the national parks aka the "bush" no chemicals or pgrs .. just soil and water .. may not be strong as fuck but it does the job as it was intended by mother earth.. the hydro we call it aka Indica mostly commonly grown with chemicals and pgrs .. I know you can get Indica and sativa in nature but the Australian government sweep the bush for any NATURALLY growing cannabis in the 50s t 60s

I've been a subscribed fan for years and it's crazy. I remember when The Why Files only had less than 900k members. I had told AJ & Hecklefish that they are amazing and hang in there that they would have over a million subscribers before long. They must of got a huge amount of subscribers on a short time period. Which they deserve because there channel is truly awesome. Congrats AJ & Hecklefish.

The aliens have mastered anti-gravity, and interstellar travel but couldn’t figure out how to get a guy out of a tree who was 10’ up, and this went on for 12 hours? I’m Pretty sure in 12 hours I could cut down tree, with a butter knife. One of my old bosses years ago used to say if aliens have the technology to travel across the vast distances of space but when they get here, they crash. He seems to have a point.
The dude was abducted as soon as he saw the light, and the story of the flaming clothing etc is just him hallucinating while the aliens are probing him inside the ship.
We were thinking the same thing...interstellar travel, 2 aliens with 2 robots cannot figure out how to get a sleeping monkey out of a tree.
Don was abducted and this was all implanted.
And I'm thinking Don was nabbed by whatever MKUltra evolved into.

I look forward to why files episodes like I did with my favorite TV shows. Like X-Files, Justified, House MD, Mr Robot, and Breaking bad. So so so very great. I honestly think this is my favorite weekly show. No bull. Hecklefish is perfect, I wasnt sure about him when I first watched but I can't see this show without him.
AJ you have to be the best storyteller. The research is top-notch. Even when you do a video on something I have seen many times. You always find new information and tell the story with flair and an open mind.
I love how the story is told as if 100% true. So entertaining. Then you slap us with the debunk, or at least the lack of evidence.
You also keep an open mind and admit when you can't debunk the whole story
It took a while to get Hecklefish dialed in - if you watch the early episodes he’s a lot more obnoxious and overbearing, like too much salt on a steak. Nowadays the mix is perfect, or a hell of a lot closer anyway.
LOL, I hate ads of any sort and actually pay to keep them outta the vids I watch BUT, this channels ads (at least 90%) I totally watch!!

Maybe the distance was off for him to shoot the “aliens” and the robots were the closest threat as they were in fact spraying him.
I rewatch episodes a lot, too. This is my second time watching this one. The ad cracks me up and the story is insane.
I've actually seen UFOs whilst on some shrums.. seriously, not a hallucination, there were two other witnesses with me. It was one of the most mindblowing experiences of my life.

In other words, you cannot share the same hallucination with others in its active state, the only thing that you can do is talk about it and describe it to others, because its only in your own head. If they seen the UFOs during it. . they just see them, and I believe it. They were basically in a higher state of their consciousness, of course that the extraterrestials could had interest to them.
@@TheJ0kerr There were 2 other witnesses and I was on a relatively low dose of shrooms, I had it together, and for visual effects I had to let myself go from lucidity intentionally while staring at distant tree lines bordering the field we were in and see the branches kind of waving and that was mostly the extent of my hallucinating and I could tell that's what it was. The UFOs (human, alien, occupied, drone? I don't know) were there, I am 100% certain of that.

Lol, I had left an almost identical comment on his video a few weeks ago! Absolutely 100% true. Nobody else even comes close to the quality of their ads. They are the only advertisements on youtube that don't feel intrusive.

Here's what I think happened. The aliens he saw were gray, that's why he mentioned the big eyes, however his memory was confused and since he never saw a gray alien before he said they were wearing goggles, it was the best explanation he could give. Now everything sounds normal for an alien encounter, aliens grabbing rocks and other natural resources is quite normal, believe it or not. However, when the aliens noticed him and a 40's sci-fi comic book robot, that "vomits" smoke, comes out I just thought to myself "he became unconscious and was abducted, the robot encounter and the arrow battle was a dream mixed with the abduction, that could explain why he lost some of his clothing (the same he "burned"). However there's the arrow, right? Maybe he managed to shoot one before becoming unconscious. I don't believe the robot 🤖 (who looks like this emoji) was there, I believe either his mind explained something strange with a pop culture reference while being abducted or the grays, through their mind powers (which we know they have) created these robot entities on his mind to scare him away.

There was another child that was abducted a la missing 411 and then he says the abductor was his grandmother but the way he knew she was a robot was from the smoke or sparks coming out of her mouth
In other abductions, people have said they thought they saw large 4-5ft high 'Owls', just before they lost their memory & time. It was only after regression that the 'owls' turned out to be 'greys/browns', with them either using powers to shift the mid's perception, or the human mind trying to make sense of what it's seeing, & compartmentalising it to the nearest known form, to stop terror taking over.
That said, we don't know if something was inhaled or ingested as he tried to keep warm, giving a hallucinogenic reaction. Odd though for the other person's account of a ship being recorded, but Don Shrum's being discounted.
The ending on this WF episode did sadly seem short compared to normal.

The only thing that doesn't change over time with the cultural zeitgeist are the MIB.
Even the commercials here are better than anything on tv. This channel makes it difficult to tolerate other content

It is odd that the beings spent that much time trying to figure out how to get him out of the tree. But there are other aspects of his story that I find compelling. Details that I can’t see him just making up. The fact that it messed him up that much also lends believability to his tale. Tough one.

As someone who has experienced a full blown psychological melt down, I can attest that false memories are definitely a possibility when someone breaks. I have memories of things that with 100% certainty didn’t happen. The mind is powerful, arguably more powerful when it goes off the rails.
Can’t really decide one way or the other on this particular incident, but the bizarre nature of the specific imagery has me leaning towards this being a hallucination or false memory over it being a hoax, with both of those two being more likely than it being real.
However even if it is entirely fabricated, on purpose or not, the way the Air Force responded to it is telling. That they performed an investigation suggests they know things that we don’t, things that are weird enough that this guys experience was worth documenting.
But why do you believe that his life went down the tubes because of aliens? Because he said so (or rather, AJ said he said so)?

I'm in the UK so this doesn't stream until 2am Friday but Al of Thursday afternoon and night I was constantly checking to see if it had come up yet and what they'd cover this week as you never know, this channel isn't predictable and recycling old content its always something I've never heard of or if I have it tells a whole different story with so much detail and original content to the repetitive accounts on other channels.
I didn't see this vid listed until midnight and was trying to talk myself into staying awake and only getting 2 hours sleep lol I was a grown up however and have saved it excitedly like a child lol I can't wait until later on to sit down and watch this undisurbed I know it's going to be great everything on this channel is!
