Nooo the GM giving her free cake 😭 now she's going to do it again. If you reward bad behavior you get more of it. Even if she doesn't come back to your restaurant she'll do it to some other place
Wow I’m sorry you guys have to go through that! I know what you mean though. I used to work at dollar tree and we would get these kinds of customers pretty often. Like people would come in 5 minutes prior to closing and want to casually shop even though we said we were closing and they would get mad cause they came “such a long way” to shop and the hours were so unclear to them even though they were updated both on the door and online. So I completely understand all this!
I think the GM did a kind thing, and I don't think it made you look like a meanie or anything like that. I can put myself in her shoes, and maybe she was genuinely very hungry, which makes it hard to think straight. Maybe she was traveling a LONG way and had planned her route with your restaurant as a destination for resting. If she didn't think to check the hours then it would come as a big and disappointing surprise that you were closed. Now she would be stuck and have to recalculate. The manager giving her some ugly cake and a soda was perhaps a true act of mercy for a bewildered and tired traveler. Blessings on the manager, and on you as well for not letting your aggravation turn to bitterness. Edited to fix typos.
2 slices of cake for free, and stole a drink.

Exactly!!
It's either that or getting the police involved.
I don’t know who people think they are. I love your stories!!

When I worked at a restaurant, people would come in 5min before close and stay for over an hour. It was so rude wtf
No need to argue…she can leave on her own accord or she can be escorted off premises by law enforcement.
Sometimes you just have to give the customer the pickle.
And sometimes you have to tell them to leave and call the cops if they refuse.
Lol! Jessica Vanel! Just give the the customer the pickle!
Or if the person says they are closed then leave
