I was in Lowe's several weeks ago and over the intercom came the following announcement, I live in Idaho. "Whoever has a blue Tesla with California plates, please go retrieve your car, it is driving around the parking lot, bouncing off of other cars." That was sofa-king funny.
That's unlikely since Tesla FSD requires a driver in the seat with hands on the wheel. There is a parking summon feature but this would mean the owner was driving recklessly which is not really Teslas fault.
I had a neighbor when I lived in SF and he and his gf worked at Tesla and he would tell me many stories about Musk. The main theme was that he always talks up his game, a total bs-er and a con-man. He comes up with some of the dumbest ideas and no one at Tesla took him seriously and could not stand his ego and obnoxious behavior. No wonder he admires Trump.

Shatterproof side-windows on a car are not a desirable feature in an emergency. Most civilian car side-windows are made to be able to shatter in case someone is trapped due to a jammed door.
Also, super stiff non-crumple autobodies are unsafe because instead of absorbing and dissipating impact energy, they transfer it to the passengers and other vehicle.
I'm sorry, but the president of the United States has a gar that has windows that don't shatter. If it's good enough for him, then it's good enough for me. ;)

I’m not convinced that electric cars do anything to reduce CO2 or any otter emissions Renewables still produce a tiny fraction of the electricity in this country. You can burn the gasoline or diesel as you drive or burn the coal or natural gas elsewhere to charge your car. More mass transit is the solution that makes sense. Electric Viking is one that springs to mind, but there are many others. They post videos supporting Musk and his BS ideas, and the money they make from YT, they invest in more Tesla stock. He fired her on the spot because he apparently thought she was no longer useful. Trump is a character test for me: if someone looks at his well-documented history of sleaze, grifting, racism, narcissism, misogyny, and corruption, and decides "This is my guy", then they are either a gullible idiot or as low in character as is Trump. Elon ticks both boxes.
I'm sure many would agree with you. Try to sitting on the fence even for a bit though and you see the other side feels the exact same way. Ask yourself, why are you voting for Harris/Biden? The answer probably isn't because you love them or the DNC. You're voting against Trump. From what I can tell and from the cases I know, they aren't voting for Trump either. They've voting against a system that's failed them, they see as represented by the DNC. Both sides are in their bubble, we all are. Surely "idiot" would be defined by knowing you're in a bubble but making no effort to see outside of it. Not look at what the other side is seeing, trying to understand what drives them. Ignorance would be summary judgement - they're stupid or racist, while making no effort to question the foundation of your convictions and whether it includes all the information that would be necessary to make a responsible decision. For the Harris side, they generally obsess over January 6. The intent painting a picture of a genuine threat to democracy. For the anti-DNC side, it's more about the countless ways the system has failed them. it's the censorship and media bias, political corruption and relationship with big investment and their ideologies (particularly the woke agenda) and the flood of immigrants and opioids filling the streets. A country on the edge of collapse and the people who are meant to represent them representing the interests that made it this way in the first place (while I would say, actually the republican party is even worse, but I think they don't really see Trump as being a part of that). The irony though I think, is that DNC supporters imagine Jan 6 to mean the end of the world if Trump gets in again. But on the other side, there is the real risk of the actual end of the world, should we continue to pursue war in Ukraine, which the DNC are fully behind, while Trump isn't. They will continue to escalate, there is just too much invested and too many in power who will refuse to back down as they have demonstrated in the past. Not that you would hear about it from the mainstream media, but there was a ceasefire agreement that both Ukraine and Russia had agreed to. NATO, under the direction of the US, immediately sent Boris Johnson to Turkey to convince Ukraine to fight on, pledging more military support. This is unquestionably the policy of the DNC, even the republican party if it didn't include trump. That's how it looks from the fence. But perhaps we'll look back one day and realise is was actually the division itself which caused more damage than any of those things. To look down on others, making summary judgements without consideration. To imagine this is a battle of good and evil, not differing perspectives that are meant to be fought out through dialog with at least a begrudging respect for adversaries. That it was us that tore the country apart because we let fear and anger drive us, not compassion, understanding and the reservation of judgement.
To be honest, SpaceX is a far better space contractor than say Boeing or Lockheed. Boeing got more money than SpaceX for the resupply missions and has not yet launch any single spacecraft (the first one should go to the ISS this month, after 7 years of delay).
Yeah, they were off the mark with SpaceX (except for pointing out that most of their success isn't down to Elon Musk's "genius"). True, they're only still around because of government contracts but they've still largely delivered on those contracts. Spaceflight is difficult and hugely expensive, as a _purely_ private enterprise it's basically a non-starter right now. (I say in another comment that all the stuff about "rockets blowing up" etc. just makes it seem like they don't know what they're talking about unfortunately - yes, when you're testing prototype rockets they tend to blow up. T'was ever thus :)
It would be funnier they had just dressed up cars from another manufacturer to do that rather than bought and wrecked a bunch of Tesla's, thus enriching Tesla and giving them free advertising to boot.
Yep lol. I personally prefer to think of those cars becoming self-aware, realized they are a Musk creation and promptly decided to make an exit crash pile up.
@@mnomadvfx you're overthinking it, it was just hilarious to see that those "smart cars" just mindlessly crash THEMSELVES into a big pile. Plus, I kinda doubt they bought very many, they probably got some dead ones from a yard and then used CGI/digital effects to make the rest.
WAIT! You forgot the best part: Elon actually got canned from paypal board because he insisted on writing the software himself for confinity. he hairballed himself so badly, they had to send in actual professionals to chuck out his junk and write a new stack... 1/4 the size and non-hairballed. Elon kept making the board meetings a living hell, so they canned him.
Musk then returned as CEO of the merged company. His preference for Microsoft over Unix-based software caused a rift among the company's employees, and eventually led Confinity co-founder Peter Thiel to resign. With the company suffering from compounding technological issues and the lack of a cohesive business model, the board ousted Musk and replaced him with Thiel in September 2000. Under Thiel, the company focused on the money-transfer service and was renamed PayPal in 2001.

One small correction: technically, Musk never worked for a company called PayPal. The company's name was Confinity back in the day, their product was Paypal. The name was changed to Payal shortly after Musk got fired, the paperwork for this sack was already Musk - Paypal paperwork. The only reason why Musk can until today claim he was one of teh founders of Paypal is simply due to the reason, that in the agreements between Musk and Paypal there is a paragraph that Musk has the right to call himself founder of Paypal and Paypal will never give any statements to their own founding history. That is also the reason why unlike almost any other company on earth, you will not find a history-page on Paypal's own website.
Much like the history of Tesla. Only in that case, Musk paid a lot of money to have the right to call himself a co-founder for the company that was incorporated and had its first prototype almost a year before Musk joined the company. Like Trump, Musk has an ego that doesn’t care to operate within the lines of truth.

Trump is a character test for me: if someone looks at his well-documented history of sleaze, grifting, racism, narcissism, misogyny, and corruption, and decides "This is my guy", then they are either a gullible idiot or as low in character as is Trump. Elon ticks both boxes.
Let me guess
You are for kamala ?
🤡🤡🤡
Lol, so does Biden.
Exactly
To be honest, SpaceX is a far better space contractor than say Boeing or Lockheed. Boeing got more money than SpaceX for the resupply missions and has not yet launch any single spacecraft (the first one should go to the ISS this month, after 7 years of delay).

True, they're only still around because of government contracts but they've still largely delivered on those contracts. Spaceflight is difficult and hugely expensive, as a _purely_ private enterprise it's basically a non-starter right now.

You have to question why Elon Musk, who sells electric cars and solar electric storage batteries, decided to court red-staters who hate electric cars & don't care about climate change. You have to question why he trashes his traditional customer base, who are people who believe in science.
if it were a chess move (and I don't think it is), it would be because liberals are going to transition automatically as it becomes the more practical option,
but in order to get the holdouts, you need to provide an option that seems at odds with the libs.
another factor in terms of pressure from the left is that the auto unions see the writing on the wall that EVs and more automated manufacturing are definitely going to happen and want to slow it down as much as possible (as do the auto manufacturers and fossil fuel companies on the right)

This confirms my long held opinion that Elon Musk is a bluffer like Trump , and their recent meeting hinted that Musk will be a contender for the Reoublican nomination in 2028.
Thankfully Elon can’t because he’s not a natural born citizen.

I have been puzzled by Elon’s endorsements of D Trump but now I see what brings them together: selling snake oil.
These billionaires become so disconnected from reality. I don't know how we end up with such pathetic leaders given the amount of genuinely incredible people that are out there. All I can do is laugh at the thought of just how ridiculous we have become as a species.
❤️
when were we better as a species? 30,000bc? the year 1? 1000AD? I'm pretty sure right now we are doing quite well as a species compared to any other time in human history.
If you really don't know how these poor leaders could arise out of such a vast pool of genuine talent, you are under the illusion that capitalism is meritocracy. It's an illusion the ruling class perpetuates, and people believe it because power hierarchies do seem meritocratic at the lower levels, but as you approach the upper levels it becomes more about cutthroat and cunning, and predictably the pinnacle of any given power structure is going to be the most evil person in the room.

Starlink, I mean. Skynet from the movie Terminator is on its way. IA (which is neither intelligent nor artificial) is in the hands of some of the bigtechs to such an extent that Starlink, I mean Skynet, is a real threat to humanity in that bigtechs like Starlink, I mean Skynet will aim to take over all human activity by eliminating humans.
Starlink, oops, Skynet, also called Tesla, sorry, Titan, is an advanced network of computer systems.
In other words, artificial intelligence (which is neither intelligent nor artificial). The IA was created to be the world's first automatic defense system by the company Cyberdine, and was eventually funded by the US military. Not to be confused with xIA, Elon Musk's company responsible for Artificial Intelligence (which is neither intelligent nor artificial) research.
It's pure coincidence that Elon Musk has already said that artificial intelligence (which is neither intelligent nor artificial) will take all our jobs.
But don't worry, that's not necessarily a bad thing: “Probably none of us will need a job,” Musk said about IA at a technology conference on May 23, 2024.
This makes it clear that numerous coups d'état will be necessary, starting with the third world. Donald Trump hopes to win the US elections to implement his Project 2025 with the invaluable contribution of his ally Elon Musk.

I will admit that I was pretty much swallowing the Kool-Aide of Elon Musk, pretty much until the self-driving car thing. I was wondering, why self driving cars? Driving is fun. If you don't want to drive, call an Uber, a Lyft or a taxi, all of which would be much cheaper than a self driving car. Also, driving people and products is an industry, wouldn't he be just replacing drivers who get paid little to drive, with a few engineers who get paid much to do little?
