Japanese males aren't as popular as Japanese females in Japan, so are bought and used left often. Its not always the same overseas, but it is within Japan, 80% of producers are male that subscribe to DTM Magazine and its a reflection of the problem. I once asked in the early 2000s about something else, and his answer was that girls just don't tend to be that tech savvy in Japan so website designers, producers, business roles tend to be a lot more male dominated then even here in the west. Girls tend to be encouraged into more traditional roles and subjects, so there isn't as many female producers so they can get married and raise a family. A lot of the girls use girl vocaloids anyway due to their popularity in addition so in short... You get this never-ending circle of popularity breeding more popularity just because the majority use female vocals as their male. If it was the other way around, with more girls then boys doing these roles, it may be a case of the females were the unpopular ones... but again... Japanese culture idolises females more then males so I don't know if this would be the case.
I personally really liked Kiyoteru's lower ranges, perhaps a bit even more than VY2. With fine tuning, Kiyoteru can sound really realistic. For some reason, I like the natural bank more hahah but while I do like the natural vb design, with the plaid pattern pants he looks like a student...
I just feel as though they abandoned the teacher motif with his V4 natural, he seems more like another student than an educator now :/ which would be fine if they didn't put as much emphases on it as they did.
I don't think it was AH-S's intention to abandon his characterization as a teacher, but I guess they really wanted to play up his status as a (handsome) young man. He does have a coworker at the school, in a sense, that one Voiceroid with the orange hair. So AH-S still considers Kiyoteru to be a teacher.
addictedtoheroines I know they werent actually abandoning it, I just feel that way seeing as his Natural design looks more like another teen than an educator. Not only with clothing but with his features altogether. In my opinion there is a big age difference between his Natural and Rock banks in terms of appearance where Rock looks like a twenty-something and Natural coming off as more sixteen to eighteen. I know they wanted his Natural to be sweet to offset Rock but I just feel they made it a little too sweet y'know?
In terms of design, I think he's got the best of both worlds by being both sweet and cool!
Sweaterteru is best Kiyoteru-
He's beautiful and I love him
I like his voice! idk why he isnt used more often :- /
