Some interesting film of BLETCHLEY. Saw Melrose Court in the background for a brief moment - I did some surveying work on that as an office junior way back in 1966.
Yes but the first part of the development was the lakes estate, part of the new town, otherwise known as the London over spill , bletchley has an MK post code as MK 2... ( the lakes estate is in bletchley)
@@lynnking606 Just because they developed the open prison known as the lakes estate doesnt mean its part of Milton Keynes. Bedford has an MK postcode as well. As does Buckingham and Newport Pagnell. Now, we dont mind NP saying they are MK, they're not riff raff, but Bletchley is deffinately out.
@@stephen2583 I realise the lake's estate is not the most desirable, but there are some lovely houses in bletchley parts of bletchley are lovely. My point was it was the first faze of developing mk . My second point to the original comment was that as a whole mk has been built leaving lots of green open spaces and is a great place to live and work. However like all towns/ citys it has less pleasant areas. Fishermead / netherfield probably not the most desirable either, but they are definitely in mk. Referring to the whole of bletchley as rif raff is a bit silly, you dont mind NP becoming mk but not bletchley.. the funny part of that is that if you speak to old Newportonyens They dont consider themselves as part of mk, the truth is as mk has become so big they all overlap.
@@Abi_81 I can understand that :) NP is NP, Wolverton is Wolverton, Bletchley is Bletchley. Whilst there might be a physical connection, these individual identities are important.

This is Bletchley !
Yes, Whaddon Way... view of Melrose Flats in the background,
The original sink estate.
Fantastic film! Thank you for sharing it.
1:10 The good old days before lorries had to wash their wheels when leaving the building site! 🚴♀
Should be called Bletchley 1968
Whaddon Way Bletchley mainly. Clean new pavements and hardly any cars, those were the days.😏
Ugh!
Milton Keynes the new development has ruined the area, thousands of acres of farmland and countryside gone.
Yep. It's an American sized town on a small island.
People have to live somewhere, many green spaces have been left during the building of milton Keynes. It's a fantastic place to live and work .
stop winging.
Homes have to be built one way or another
@@KaiDiesAgain yes totally agree not sure why you are replying to me ☺️
@@lynnking606 I just did a general reply, not to anyone that has already commented
Sorry, thats Bletchley, Not Milton Keynes. Thats like saying Sunderland is Newcastle.
