The smart thing would have been to bring in the Dutch on this. They are the undisputed master of dealing with problems like this .

I was in school in the '60s and seventies and they showed 300 years of Venice sinking now, it's the oceans raising.

Why not do what the Dutch did land lock it make the outer Seawall permanent and control what sea water come and goes thus keeping the wetlands alive and preserving Venice make a docking port harbour

Perhaps a better solution would have been to take all that money they are now spending and build a sea wall around Venice (like the Dutch), then pump sea water in and out of that area at a rate that keeps the water levels constant and flushes the waterways just like the tide doing now.

I'm confused. If the city is sinking, how is it exposing the foundations?

How does a sinking building expose foundations?

Listen, marble was used to protect the bricks with water rising it exposed the bricks to water damage, the narrator said this.

Did they make this barrier does not know that between barrier there is a gap which water still can enter freely. Also why small lagoon which for water way out not build a dams for controlling water out to the open sea ? if there is 3 gates, 2 of them that can build dams for throwing water out to the sea and other is holding them by closing gate.

funny the expert at the beginning of the video gives specific range of how much the city has sunk but then does not say how much the sea level has risen.

A ship in the lagoon causes the seabed to sink? After several dubious claims in the first couple minutes, the ship comment made me realize the authors don’t understand anything about engineering.

it was either that ridiculous thing or spend a ridiculous amount on installing new foundations...Either way; it's ridiculous.

For 20% of cost of mose ,geophysicist from Italy stop dredging the lagoon and the natural buildup of sediment will decrease the rate of sinking..unfortunately Rome as usual for the last 5decades discourages young Italian scientists and engineers half have left Italy out of frustration, higher compensation and respect .Italys leaders for decades have gone for the gold which was concentrated in Italy. Symptoms 500,000 illegal immigrants in Italian camps, not screened ,not vetted and identified beyond basics .
