    Nice that the rockers saved the valves from bending, saved alot of money/ engine replacement in this case :)
    I guess the engine has never been touched/ apart in this one and it was the right call to give it a much needed full service... a reminder to stay ahead of service.

    Excellent job on the repair sir! One interesting thing I've noticed on these VW 2.0 TDi engines is that sometimes when the cambelt snaps, the lobes on the camshafts can shift, because the cams aren't a single machined piece, but rather a shaft with the lobes pressed on. Shifted lobes can really mess you around. Just thought I'd share my experience. Keep up the great work

    Excellent spanner action and camera work. I didn't realize that modern engines still have pushrods - duuuh. FYI, my mechanic had fun, not, with one of those Gates brand tensioners - the ones with no locating tab , whilst changing the belt on my 64 plate 1.6 Touran. It wouldn't hold tension and he had to get the rep out to witness the fact and supply him with a replacement. @dennisphoenix1 2 года назад

      @@kristofferoscarsson5632 if you have a low pressure pump in the tank to supply fuel to the injector pump then it will self prime up to the injector pump. From the injector pump to the injectors you will need to leave the injector pipe connections loose while cranking the engine for a few seconds to purge the air out . Once you get fuel at the injectors then tighten everything up and crank until it starts. To speed up the process you can use easy start to increase the engine speed and therefore pump output volume. If you don't have a lift /delivery pump in the tank you might have a priming bulb just before your fuel filter. If so use that to prime the injector pump .

      @@themobilemechanic1992 ha, weird, definitely looks like a lefty, I just had the timing belt done on my 2014 crafter camper conversion by VW Citygate in Colindale, After the belt change noticed some mild extra vibration through the steering wheel and ticking from the engine, but over the last two weeks it has all settled down. The main issue I brought it to VW was because of a clunk coming from the front end, you can feel it and hear it through the steering wheel as your turn slowly or go over bumps, I just cannot find where or what it is, I changed the tie rods inner and outer, checked the ball joints etc. It may be a steering rack issue or the yolk needs adjusting, I just don’t know and would love it fixed as the clunking is doing my head in. I’m going up to Scotland via cardiff from London in a few weeks if your near that part of Wales. Got to pick up some new upholstered seats! Any ideas what the clunking might be. VW didn’t have a clue and weren’t really interested in finding out, ended up getting the timing belt done as it hadn’t been changed since leaving the factory. Cheers mate.

      @@aberdeendeltaforce oh dear sounds like you’ve had a bit of a nightmare with that. There are a few common issues I’d check with the crafters. Steering rack like you said but also the front shocks are common for getting play in them side to side Jack it up and check there’s no side movement in them. Also check the steering column changed a few of them in the past for it too, you can put a bit of spray grease up the shaft to see if it quietens it a bit. Other than that could be steering rack like you said.
      I’m Chepstow so you can go past me on your way to Cardiff if you go over the old Severn bridge.

    Who would I look for to try to do a head job with messed up valves due to timing belt breaking? Just a regular mechanic? My mechanic who replaced my timing belt when it broke while I was driving said the head needs to be taken to a machine shop to fix because of a valves hitting each other issue. Could I just get a 2nd inspection from another mechanic just to verify?

    • @themobilemechanic1992
      @themobilemechanic1992  2 года назад +1

      Hello, yes so remove the head and send it to an engineering firm who can pressure test the head and skim in necessary, unfortunately though not many about these days so you’d be better off getting a reconditioned cylinder head and doing it that way

    And how much work that cost? 😬
    I have recently bought a 2006 vw crafter 2.5 cr35 163.
    It seems like I have to replace the camshaft or crankshaft, maybe both!
    I had a diagnostics done on it last week when it stalled and it came up with codes regarding oxygen sensor and crank sensor.
    But trying to find video's on this doesn't come easy.
    Do you have any advice regarding this issue?

    • @themobilemechanic1992
      @themobilemechanic1992  3 года назад +2

      Oh no, a crank sensor failure will stop it from running for sure, I’d look into that first. You checked the belt and engine turns over fine?

    • @mikeb3315
      @mikeb3315 3 года назад

      @@themobilemechanic1992 I had a mobile mechanic come out and check it over... It turned out to be the wiring, he got it starting with changing any sensors.
      But he now recommends that I check the engine over because there's some knocking noise 😒 and there's also a fault code with the cluster model.
      So a little more work to do, it's a luton body and I'm converting it into a home lol.
