What an intriguing place with such a sad history. So colourful. Thank you for sharing and teaching me about this port. I'd never heard of it before. What an interesting journey its been- from Zarkos shoe shining to slavery to art. ❤ your favourite Aussie follower
Luanda really is a place of contrasts-so vibrant yet with such a heavy past. Cheers for your support, and love back to our favorite Aussie follower! ❤️
I love your commentary on the videos...very informative and educational too! Some info was of course sad especially about slavery and corruption, but needs to be told! Thanks for sharing... a subscriber from Canada
We really appreciate your kind words and support from Canada. 🌟 It's important to share the full story. Thanks for subscribing and joining us on these journeys!
We’re glad we could shed some light on it. And yes, Zarko’s clean shoes were a small but satisfying win! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Another excellent piece. Great natural sound in the market. I'm glad you have found your voice, first in India and now here. I'm sure I'd feel the same. Again your content is the best on the ship hands down. I follow several others too and while the locations and factual information is the same, the execution is all in your package. See ya in the next port.
Thanks so much for the kind words! We're thrilled you enjoyed the videos and the journey. We're not really in competition with anyone-this is all about capturing memories for ourselves and preserving these moments so we can relive them. It’s amazing to have you along for the ride, and we can’t wait to see you at the next port! Safe travels and happy watching!
I found the tiled walls in that fortress really interesting so of course had to spend a little time Googling more about them. They are Portuguese & tell the story of the history of Angola. On another sadder note the corruption is awful. Thank you for talking about it. Your videos are a really informative travelogue.
Hi Mom I'm 100% Angolan and I thank you for this masterpiece, bravo brilliant. Que o Espírito da benção caia sobre vocês. Means may the spirits of blessing remains to your circle. Had some tears watching this video, it's been years i don't see Angola. Our people lack bunch of basic human needs, but its life. I miss Angola a million, I'm a fruit abuser, and every time I land to Angola I faint to fruits lol. However, I massively thank you.
So glad to hear you enjoyed watching our Luanda visit. One day is certainly not enough to know about your country. We saw a lot of landscape that we had never seen anywhere else. Our guide was excellent explaining how people don’t have basic needs. These things most people take for granted. It was a humbling experience.
Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊 The tour guide was definitely informative and didn’t sugarcoat things, which we appreciated. Sometimes it’s refreshing to get the honest perspective! Thanks for watching!
That's amazing! 😅😅 What a small world! We're so happy you love the videos. Luanda is such a fascinating place, and we're thrilled to share it with everyone. We hope you get to go on a wonderful cruise soon too! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing on your Ultimate World Cruise ... very informative and love your commentary .. and thanks for visiting our country - Singapore and hope you enjoyed on your 4 hours short trip here... looking forward to your next videos 🙏
That’s awesome! Baobab trees are pretty incredible with all the uses they have. Glad you found the video informative, and we’re excited to share our Ghana adventure with you soon. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
Thank you for subscribing and enjoy traveling with us on this incredible journey. We have many videos coming up soon. We both truly enjoyed our visit to Luanda!
Beer costs less than a dollar, in an upscale bar on the beach. I’m half Angolan, and don’t get where the most expensive city comes from. Heard it many times. Unless you’re perhaps comparing it to salaries/ cost of living? Cool video, subscribed for more.
That’s a great point! The ‘most expensive city’ label often comes from the experience of Western oil company employees trying to maintain the same lifestyle they have back home, which drives up demand for the few homes that meet those standards. But as you know, the reality for locals or those familiar with the place can be very different. Sounds like you have a better perspective on this than I do. Thanks for watching, and we’re glad to have you on board-cheers to more videos!
@@bztravelthat’s true some people in Angola they prefer buying simple things like tomatoes 🍅 or onions 🧅 on the supermarket that comes from Brazil which costs more than to buy tomatoes already produced in Angola with low cost
Somewhat like India....a lot of what we would call poverty yet everyone seems happy......I saw that picture of Castro when you drove by......he seems to be a hero in Angola......But anyway the tourist trade my be taking over if prices go down....
You are getting very slick with your videos - your preseting style and informaton on the places is really excellent. It's such a shame that the poor take a hammering all the time - plus ca change. here's to the next stop!
It's not true. I think sometimes that these contents are made by angolan RUclipsrs. Becouse, i live in a T3 apartment, and I pay $35, most people in the city don't pay more than $150, don't pay tax, how can u tel to the world that this is the most expensive country? In ilha de Luanda, where the tourists most like to share their free time, a dinner is not up to $5, I went to Brazil, to EUA, Cape town, I could not experience the same thing with dollar. I did not found apartment under $400 in Tijuca, Leblon, copa cabana for ex. In cape town, my nice pay, the same apartment u pay here by $150, in sea point, she pays $1800.. in Florianópolis, BR, u pay up to $1000 (up to R$5000). Which is the most expensive country u use to tell more expensive in the world? What we live, is our own problems, local problems, becouse foreigner come with small money, and live in the most best place, best restaurants, hotel and so on.
@maryodiyo5107 well, I used to live in Kilamba a T4 apartment C12 Square, paying $180 (180.000 Kwanzas), does it sound wrong for u?. Now I'm living in Centralidade de Lossambo, in Huambo, something like Centralidade de Sekel, in Luanda, O used to pay $35/mth, so, now I have to pay $45 duplex T3, again, does it sound wrong? If yes u don't know Angola. Even some foreigner pay $50 to $65, it doesn't make difference. This is the average prices in the rest of places in Angola, except Luanda. Só, in the historical city center of Luanda, like: São Paulo, Kinaxixi, Mutamba, Prenda, u can find easily T3 apartment under $100 (100.000 kwanzas)/mth. In the most provinces u find under $50. Impossible to find in countries like Sth África, Nigeria, Namibia or Mozambique, I know very well these countries and understand the cost of live in these places, where in some I have family. Even in BraZil, unless u gonna live in "Favela da Rocinha". Restaurants, most expensive places, alone, u can eat and drink with $20 (20.000 Kwanzas). Would u find in other referred countries? Forget! Sorry my eng is very bad.
@teri.desu. the RUclipsr is not taking local buyer consideration, is what I'm talking about. If foreigner, can not speak such lies. The city is one of the most expensive only for us, not for foreigners who come with dollar or even other way of payment beside local sources incomes money
As of July 2020, there are eight recognized species of Adansonia, with six endemic to Madagascar, one native to mainland Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and one native to Australia. The mainland African species (Adansonia digitata) also occurs on Madagascar, but it is not a native of that island. Baobabs were introduced in ancient times to south Asia and during the colonial era to the Caribbean. Could Zarko please put the camera on the object you are talking about. That would be much more interesting to actually see the object instead of you walking around.
Thanks for your feedback! We really appreciate it. Just to let you know, we make these videos primarily for ourselves to remember and relive our travels. Whether others like them or not isn’t as important to us. We do our best to avoid "Talking Heads Videos" and focus more on the places we visit, but many of our friends want to see more of us too. We take a lot of footage, and sometimes the audio and video don’t line up perfectly. Anyone who has made and edited videos knows the challenge! We’re just two retirees doing this for fun, with no aspirations for Hollywood fame. In our videos, you’ll see the places, we’ll share how we feel and what we find interesting, and we definitely won’t bore you with dry Wikipedia information. Thanks for watching!
Tressa who did a great job with history info that mineral limestone orange and ivory colour was amazing to see terrible to know people were taken away to be slaves from here very, very sad, and now the country is rich and en slaving their own people with not evan providing drinking water for everyone it is terrible!!!!!!!!

The kids on the streets … it always breaks my heart
We completely agree-it’s heartbreaking to see. It really makes you reflect on how fortunate we are.
