zeppelin hangars - MARKET HANGARS are in 1920s in Latvian independence time not by soviets Located in the center of Riga, opposite the Riga International Bus Station, near the Riga Railway Passenger Station. Riga Central Market is the largest market in Latvia, which was once recognized as the best and most modern market in Europe. Its bright symbol is the 20th century. Market pavilions built in the 1920s and originally used for military purposes. During World War I, the German army established Vaiņode Airport in Kurzeme, where several airships were permanently located. These were elongated-shaped balloons filled with gas and enclosed to carry passengers and cargo. Control was provided by an internal combustion or electric motor and a wing in the housing. The airships were intended for reconnaissance or for bombing an enemy, for example, by attacking a Russian army seaplane airfield on the island of Roņi. The hangars are known to be called Walhalla and Walther. After the Latvian War of Independence, the hangars were dismantled and used to build the hangars of the Riga Central Market, planning to leave them in their original size. It was later decided to use only the upper parts of the hangars. Today you can see the metal structures of the German army airship hangar. The market provides a pleasant way to learn about the origins of world aviation.
Latvia 🇱🇻 is my favorite ❤️ country in the world! Latvia may not be country for everyone but it’s certainly happiest country for many other people who love Latvia.
I don't think its a depressing country. Of course, you shouldn't compare it with the likes of Morocco as the culture and climate is very different, but trust me, based on European standards, Latvia seems least depressing, especially when you would compare it to Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Austria, etc. These are all countries with dead streets, cold people, bland cultures, and poor weather.
To fully understand the situation in Latvia you would have to visit each county in Latvia. For example, Latgale is considered one of the poorest and underdeveloped regions in Europe. What i can say from my perspective is that too much of the available resources and developments are focused on Riga. The regions and provinces are forgotten for most of the time. Latvias main problem is the huge gap between rich and the poor... and that everything is centered in Rīga..
Thank you for sharing, I agree there is a big gap between the rich and the poor. I've visited most of the major cities in Latvia and I feel that Riga does have the most happening for obvious reasons being the capital city of the country.
@@psy-lion how is that underdevelopment evident in latgale? I have been there and it looks normal I mean like other parts of the country. Perhaps there is a lot of development happening there.
Hey! Nice video! By the way, I am living in Latvia and could confirm that Latvia is not the most depressing country in Europe, at least in my personal opinion

@@YadVenturess Yes, I know what you meant, I'm just being a wishful thinking. I didn't know that my 3 years working and living in Mumbai could lead to a second depression when coming back to KL in 2012. After few sessions with a psychiatrist, I've realized I've already had a first depression in 1999 after leaving KLCC, and ended up without a steady income for 4 years, and then joining MIDA, a government agency, with a starting salary, less than a third from what I last earned in KLCC. Depression can come in many forms, and it does take away your freedom of choice, in a way or the other. 😀
@@YadVenturessYes, I guess you are definitely right. How wrongly you are treated in a foreign country could summed up as an impression and a negative experience, but still, other positive experience counts as well. I had some bad experience when I was in my first year in Mumbai. I was treated badly in some shops, the salesperson didn't allow me to inspect the merchandise, the cashier suddenly closed the register and made me move to another cashier, the bumping with strangers on a crowded road (which I remember you had the same experience in Mumbai). But all that seemed unimportant when I had good local colleagues, good neighbors, good friends from Mumbai. Sometimes, those rude people have their own unresolved issues. 😀

I'm Latvian, currently living in Dubai, Latvia can definitely be depressing, the surroundings are not very motivating or inspiring, there's not much to do, it's small, but it's mainly just Latvian people's mindset of "it's all bad". If you want to you can live life to a high standard in Latvia. Personally, I'm excited to return back to Latvia in the next few years.
Very well said…it’s certainly the mindset of the older generation that gives it the depressing vibe. You will feel the difference when you return from Dubai..
Well just the same goes for Dubai where you are right now. Many avoid due to it being depressing and no good surroundings. At least rīga is full of old beautiful architecture, nice parks and so on which in fact are considered to be inspiring places by many. In any place. In general latvia has plenty of inspiring historical and natural places for inspiration. It seems that you cannot say the same for Dubai, I have not been there but that's what I have read from many. Many have no interest in visited Dubai and neither do I, that's the impression I get from the things I've seen about it, just not attractive
And I'm not exactly sure by what do you not much to do? What is it that you wanna do? What you wanna do may not be the same for someone else and they very well may be interested in other things. There are plenty of cultural, natural and historical things to do in latvia. Riga alone is full of all kinds of museums for example. Perhaps for someone who chose to live in Dubai the interests indeed may be quite a bit different. You can sometimes tell the values and interests of people by seeing in what kinds of places they choose to reside
