Asian Theory is nice if you are further into the journey but *def information-overload* for 41 min if you are a newbie. Who is BTS? despite some problems really pulls you into their personal stories. XCeleste video is also more digestible. IMHO. 💜
They all you need. Singer, rapper, dancer, actor, producer, comedian 😂😂
they can do it all!
Plus models, songwriters, some can paint and draw, play instruments, motivational speakers, and philanthropists.
And most of all, they are often so relateable and down to earth.

The comments saying they only wear stage makeup is just incorrect. Jungkook has literally talked about how he likes to do his own makeup on his off days and the fact that people need to make excuses for them wearing makeup to make it seem less "weird" is just sad. Boys can wear makeup. You wouldn't have asked a girl why she was wearing makeup. They don't owe you an explanation.
I sm surprised how many comments are saying or implying they only wear stage makeup. Any longtime fan will know that's not true.

As you know their actual situation is quite different : they received the Cultural Order from the President, and many awards. I was talking about humiliations in American interviews, the whole "radio situation", not to be considered for awards like "album of the year" or "MV of the year" in the US. The member you first asked about his vocals, who opened ON, his name is Jimin. And the member on the bridge singing super high is Jungkook. Yes, I'm sure you heard Dynamite... it's everywhere. BTS have broken so many records this year, and broken their own records too. The records that they didn't break, they tied... with the Beatles, with Michael Jackson, with The Beegee's. Some records go back 20, or 30, or 40+years.
Their fandom is called ARMY. And we are probably about 40M+ strong globally, and probably the most diverse fandom out there. We are from almost every country in the world, every ethnicity, every religion, and every age and gender. We are very proud of the boys.

Thank you for listening with an open mind! Growing up Asian American, there were almost no performers who looked like me that were celebrated until BTS. (And they still face lots of racism and xenophobia but persist and keep breaking new records!) BTS aren’t only incredible artists but true role models and they give a voice and a positive message to so many people around the world who’ve felt underrepresented. BTS Army can be really intense but I hope you feel welcomed. Also sorry to hear about your dog passing!

They are not like Justin Beev or One Direction. BTS is so much more than The Beevs or One Direction. They don't compare at all. I have been around a while (56) and I have seen many groups, I have never seen any group that does what BTS does. They are up there with Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Prince. I did not say they sound like them, I said they are at the same level of performance as them. BTS is amazing!!!!!!!

On the surface, their songs may sound like regular dance music but If you delve further, you will discover that BTS’ music are full of literary, philosophy, psychology, socio-political and pop culture references. People who don’ t know them might be vibing to their music not realizing that the song is actually making a social commentary.

BTS are great artists and the biggest band in the world. With over 200 songs in their discography they have extensive music from hiphop, pop,ballads,rock,edm,etc. They write,compose and produce their own music. They have great lyrics that resonates well in all age groups and ethnicities
You should definitely react to the video called "The most beautiful life goes on of BTS" by the Asian theory, it basically sums up the whole career of BTS, how they've come and take over the world.
The video is amazingly informative showing how BTS was formed, their achievements thru out each of their album for 7 years and so on..
It's pretty long but don't worried the video itself is incredible well edited, researched and appealing from beginning to end. This video will kinda explain why they have such huge and loyal fanbase and u may appreciate the group more.
And ofc Army will always be willing to watch no matter how long it's as long as it's abt BTS.

However, it doesn't impress me much, especially if it was going to be the only one watched to decide if you liked the group or not.
I think it's dry and award and accomplishment filled and lacks the heart of the classic, earlier introduction videos to the members and the group.
I still think that these two pack more of a punch:

. They have had a lot of record breaking accomplishments since this, but it is good about their beginnings.

It's good to keep in mind that, when a woman is referred to, in songs like BWL, I NEED YOU, SAVE ME, etc, it doesn't primarily mean a personal dating relationship like in most western songs. FAKE LOVE is a complex mix of Bangtan Universe storyline visuals and MOTS lyrics, and I had to read some articles and a lot of comments to piece together my vast appreciation of it.

I get the most enjoyment out of their many RUN BTS episodes,
(121 eps so far)and besides the sometimes heartwarming insights to their personalities, I often find myself laughing out loud at their antics, and highly recommend the series.

They have their in house producer also collaborate with ww producers, and the members themselves participate in producing, composing, writing the song

@@adamrosenduft Eternal is a song for the fans. It's saying how they started off only as a 7 member group but eventually they turned into more than 7 because of their fans all over the world. The MV shows their history since they debuted in 2013 along with a lot of things only ARMY can understand.
Both "life goes on" and "Dynamite " were huge hit. Both songs went no.1 on billboard hot 100
And "ON" went #4 on BB CHART
The one singing the bridge with the “advanced vocals” and high notes that amazed you is Jungkook. He is the main vocalist of BTS and you can see why. 🥰💜💜💜

@@adamrosenduft I forgot to say earlier but thank you for giving the boys a chance. Even if it isn't for reactions, I hope you get to know them better. They're amazing people even outside of their work and performances.
So they are a Korean group, started to form in 2010 but debuted in 2013 they were supposed to be a hip hop group, the first to join was RM and Suga who both were underground rappers.
They are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists and all write music, the 3 rappers are also producers but the others also has a hand in producing, some more then others. When it comes to songwriting RM and Suga stands for most of the songwriting of the members but as I said they all have a hand in it.
Their music is deep so click the CC button when watching their music videos. The 2020 album 'Map of the Soul 7' that the song Black Swan and On is from is based on several fundamental concepts of Jungian psychology, The song Life Goes On is from their new album 'BE' that the members wrote and produced during the pandemic so it is about the pandemic and feelings around that etc.
They also have their inhouse producers and work with other producers ad songwriters from around the world.
The memers induvidually also make music on the side that they give out for free. All 3 pappers have their mixtapes RM 2. Suga 2 and J-Hope 1.
Suga produces for other artists too.
2 of the members have a background in dancing but as you can tell they are all great dancers.
BTS are more compared to artists like Michael Jackson then boybands etc. by people in the music industry. They have expanded beond kpop too.
Make up is something almost all artist in the world wear on tv and stagebut in korea it is more common with a bit more to fit the overall performance.
I think its great you see men around the world starting to get more comfortable with make up to express themselves, there are no genderbounderies on make up.

Agust D is what Suga goes by on his solo stuff. It reads DT Suga backwards and DT stands for Daegu Town, his hometown. Suga short for Shooting guard which was his position playing basketball.
All members write songs and some also are producers.
Last I saw an age and gender demographic on their fanbase most were in their 30's followed by people in their 20's but they have fans that are teens to and even many fans over 60 because their not only great sounding music but deep lyrics. And there are more fans in the female column but not by too much.

Thank you for taking a chance on BTS. I swear there's a long list of reasons why we, ARMY (about 48million of us worldwide), stan them. BTS stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts in English. There are 7 members; 3 rappers and 4 vocalists.
Rappers:
Kim Namjoon - His stage name is RM. He is the leader of BTS.
Min Yoongi - Stage name is Suga. For his solo work, he goes by the name of Agust D.
Jung Hoseok - Stage name is J-Hope. He's the lead dancer of BTS
Vocalists:
Kim Seokjin - Jin is his stage name. He's the oldest member of BTS.
Park Jimin - Stage name is Jimin.
Kim Taehyung - Stage name is V.
Jeon Jungkook - Goes by his first name Jungkook. The youngest of the members and also the main vocalist.
BTS is not the typical "boyband" we all know. They can sing, dance, rap, write and produce their own music, directing just added to that list after their latest song "Life goes on". They are very well known for their concepts and messages in their lyrics. They sing about social injustice, hardships that come with bullying, struggles of mental illness, just to name a few. BTS have a diverse discography consisting of ballads, EDM, pop, R&B, rap/EMO rock and hip-hop/rap. I'm sure you'll find something that you will enjoy.
If you wish, perhaps check out some of their MVs because, not only do they have amazing musicality, the cinematography is also insane. Mic Drop, Dope, On, Not Today, Fire, DNA and Idol are some of my personal favourite MVs.

That song that was playing while they showed pics of army was “we are bulletproof the eternal” off their album Map of the soul 7, and was written for their fans. The whole album is amazing. Hope u watch more. Suga is missing, they didn’t fill his spots in choreo or sing His parts. Life goes on, which Started at 13:11 was the first Korean song to debut at number 1 and just came out last month, talking about the pandemic.
And yes, rm is an amazing rapper and the leader of BTS. Welcome to the rabbit hole💜
I am always confused when people are shocked about them wearing makeup, don’t most actors/performers wear makeup when on camera? Not a criticism, genuinely just curious cause maybe that’s not true?

Each individual member of them has more talent in his left pinky than Justin Bieber in his entire body and One Direction all together if you ask me.Also, ON was produced by Pdogg. He (co)produces many songs for them. Life Goes On is actually a song about the current situation, to give hope to people. It is just so beautiful.
I laughed out loud 😂 But I mean you're right. Each member is an entire package while Bieber can... Sing. Lol.
Jb trained for 7 years to dance and sing in the same time and synchronize with 6 other ppl while doing as a dancer one of the hardest choreographies I have even seen and do contemporary dance and splits ... Honestly comparing them to jb is just funny

The makeup is a Korean pop thing. BTS these days actually wears less make up than a lot of kpop groups, although back in their debut days they rocked the guyliner as hard as anyone. The hole that you see in all their formations is because they actually have 7 members, which is pretty average for a kpop group which can have as many as 23 members (NCT) or as few as 2 (TVXQ!) But their 7th member, Suga, one of their rappers, just had shoulder surgery and was out for this performance. His parts in their songs were prerecorded and they left his spot in the formation empty to show that their group is not complete without him.

I get what you are trying to say but honestly? i can't find an artist in the western industry like BTS. These guys are breaking records that set by Beatles, Michael Jackson, Bee Gees etc. The western industry can't admit it but they are the biggest act in the world right now. The amount of fans they have in every country is so mind-blowing. Even in Saudi Arabia they performed (which is a first for an foreign act) and sold out a stadium (also a first). They are also producing and writing their own music. All of their albums from their debut in 2013 since today are self produced by the members but their latest one 'BE' was both self produced and self managed.
Kpop is a whole industry. Yes, there are a lot of Korean producers including the in-house ones that BTS works with. They also work with a lot of other producers outside the Kpop industry and even participate in producing, writing, and composing their songs themselves. Their performances are always on point, but if you're looking for something to showcase their voices more I'd suggest their Tiny Desk Concert. It really highlights just how well they can sing and gives you a glimpse of their personalities and how much they really love and support each other. They're also 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, but they can all rap and sing (to varying degrees). One of my favorite things about them is how they rap harmonize too.

I think he meant it by he’s never seen K-pop and usefully K-pop all the members sing or rap, where as most amaerican artists have one main singer and the rest play instruments. I think he was expecting only one to be a main singer and the rest to play instruments that’s why he was so shocked when they could all sing really well x

If you're gonna be reacting to more BTS you just gained a new subscriber! This has probably been the best reaction video i've seen and I can't wait for more! This was a great performance to start with but it could be a little confusing without background info: There are 3 rappers but one couldn't perform (Suga) as he just has shoulder surgery and 4 vocalist although they can all sing and rap and dance. Pdogg, BangPD, and the members all have a hand in producing the music and writing the lyrics, especially the leader/rapper RM and rapper Suga. They wear makeup just like any other performer or actor would and they are pretty big advocates against toxic masculinity. They have a very diverse range of songs from hiphop and rap to pop and ballads so can't wait for more reactions! I think you should do an intro to BTS video next so that you can get a better understanding of them as people and performers. I'm glad to see a music producer react to them because Suga was supposed to be a music producer before he joined as a member. Suga also won a few awards for best producer for some songs he produced for other people. Watching an intro video will definetly clear up any other questions you have cause I don't want to make this too long (Too late for that tho sorry..) but if you continue to support BTS, ARMY will then support you

Kpop is not just a music genre. As one of the members, Suga, once said... Kpop is more integrative content that includes the music, performance, choreopgraphy, make-up, etc. It is really more than just the song itself. However, their songs are extremely diverse & traverse multiple music genres from pop to R&B to hip hop to ballad to trap & neo-soul. BTS constantly strives to reinvent their music. They were awarded The Wall Street Journal's 2020 Music Innovator Award. And, most recently named Time Magazine's Entertainer of the Year. They are Global - ARMY is their fan base which is the largest music fan base in the world 🌎

Thank you for giving BTS a listen. Yeah, they have a huge fandom of approximately 40 million in at least 200 countries including some Antarctica. Name a genre and BTS probably has a song that fits in it.
I hope you are intrigued enough to give more Kpop a listen. There are some really talented Kpop groups though not quite up to the charisma that BTS exudes. I suggest the following: Mamamoo, Seventeen, Stray Kids, TXT, Gfriend & G-Idle. Kpop has hidden depths that American music hasn’t explored. Regardless of which Kpop group you listen to, the musical & visual aspects are amazing.
A subscriber since you were kind enough to go out of your comfort zone to give Kpop a chance. But I love other music as well so have a listen to Becky G & Rina Sawayama if you haven’t ventured there yet.

Imagine this performance being your first impression of BTS..
They work so well together - they have been living and working together for 10 years. They are as close as can be even referring to themselves as brothers. They did not have an easy ride to the top - they really struggled in the early years - being told countless times that they would never succeed. They started off all living in a 1 bedroom apartment - all 7 of them sleeping in the same room, working 16 hours a day to hone their skills. I have been a proud ARMY since the beginning and I love that more people are discovering them. There are 7 members though one of the rappers, SUGA, was absent from these performances due to shoulder surgery. They have 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. All are extremely driven and talented. Try not to compare them to other groups - they don’t like it and really they are just BTS - not a Korean anybody else. They have a great message to convey through their music. Glad you took the time to react. Hopefully you will react to more. Their music style is very eclectic.
Respectfully, South Korea has an entire music industry full of amazing writers, produces and musicians.
And when it comes to performance production and music video production they are light years ahead of the western music scene. They are just way better at it. They spare no expense.
The performances you saw are of some of their biggest hits rom BTS from this year: Black Swan, On and Dynamite. At award shows the focus is really performance so often they are different performances from the original mv. (You should check those out. Black Swan and ON have 2 videos, one is a performance video and the other is a concept video).
In terms of K-pop, in SK it is a music industry in and of itself within their music industry. K-POP stands for Korean popular music. BTS started out as a kpop group but they have honestly evolved beyond that and aren't really considered that to most. Kpop can be described not as much as a genre of music but of music integrated content which includes the music, dancing, outfits, makeup, performances which are often theme based. (And makeup is accepted in Korean culture for men but they don't wear it outside of performances/appearances. They have way less toxic masculinity issues.) The concept is to provide both an auditory and visual experience.
BTS makes fusion music. You really can't limit them to a category. While they began as a hip hop group you will find they are inspired by all kinds of music: pop, rock, hip hop, rap, r&b, edm just to name a few.
BTS has a SMALL group of in house producers and writers (including their CEO) they have worked with since their debut. BTS members themselves write and produce much of their own music in tandem with their team. The members are members of the Korean music copyright association and member, Suga, is an award winning producer. He nd RM writes and produces for other artists.
BTS debuted in 2013 and has a HUGE discography that spans 7 years and over 300 songs. It is nothing for them to drop 2 albums a year. In 2018, they dropped 3 #1 albums (on the Hot 200) tying the record set by the Beatles. They are by far the most successful group worldwide and outsell just about every western artist ever.
To reduce them to anything lower than the legends they are would be a real shame. Western listerners often discredit the unknown but not knowing them is a you problem! (Not being rude just sayin')
And yes, they have probably the largest fansom of any artist. Just go sit on Twitter. Their fandom name is ARMY and they are made up of a very diverse group of worldwide individuals. BTS and ARMY have a very unique and special relationship.

PS. Justin and One Direction wish they could pull of their level of performance....no shade but just saying. These guys train super hard to perform, singing and dancing live. No lip syncing for them.
In Korea (especially in the entertainment/idol industry) it's very common for men to wear makeup for shows, photoshoots, and performances. Although there's many times you'll see them shooting without make up on as well 🙂 Their culture is much more open to men being more openly affectionate/touchy as well when they're close. BTS have been together for 10 years, and debuted 7 years ago. They also have a dorm together that they still share when they aren't at their own places. So they're very much so like a family at this point!
Also there's a few members that often help produce all of their music (they also write their own lyrics and play a part in composing as well), but they have in house producers who help! Pdogg is one of them, and you'll see him in the majority of the credits for their songs!

It got bummed down to #2 by another BTS song.

But I remember when BTS was struggling to survive and didn't have money for all the extra effects and still their shows were awesome. Thanks for reacting to this! BTS has 7 members but one had recent surgery so he wasn't there. There's 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. The first song is a performance to the orchestral version of Black Swan and shows off not only their dance but also their artistry. You should definitely check out the MV for that too. The second song is ON. JK, who sings those high notes, has the most stable voice. I'm sad they didn't include the dance break in that performance but you can see it if you watch ON Kinetic Manifesto.

This is my favorite performance of Dynamite because of the Michael Jackson tribute dance break. In general, it's very common in Kpop for artists to wear make up, especially for performances and interviews, etc. They're usually bare faced when you watch clips of them going about their daily lives.
