Your perspective, humor, analysis of symbols/metaphors, and creative analogies, have opened the way to a new appreciation of film for me. You, in fact, are cinema’s greatest door.
Oh no, Aftersun jumpscare. For real though, Aftersun has two great doors: the one you mentioned and their hotel room door. In the Blur's "Tender" sequence after the song slows down and we get a glimpse of the kind of surreal strobbing mind of Sophie, the film immediately cuts to a shot of their hotel room door, which probably, maybe, not-so-sure symbolizes that part of Calum -- or our gateway to understanding him -- is locked away in that holiday resort in Turkey. And then Damon Albarn sings "help me" over and over again. I think I accidentally inflicted pain onto myself writing this.
SUBSCRIBED. I want this to be a whole series!!!!!! Best stairs, best ceiling, best floor, best window, beset porch, best roof, best backyard, best green grass, best kitchen, best toilet, best bath/shower, best bed room, best children's room, best TV, best living room, best dining table, best hallway, IN CINEMA. you get the point.
YOOOOO!!! My mom loves taking and buying pictures of doors. She goes on vacation to walk around a city, taking photos of every cool door and the occasional gate she fancies. In other words, I fuck with this heavy
The one door that immediately comes to mind is The Shining, quite easily one of the most iconic doors, how many movies have a particular shot with a door as its most famous and most popular image to represent the film
I think one of my favorite doors in cinema has to be the metal sliding door in Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It’s just so visually striking against the old creaky wood house. The first time we see it the antagonist is pulling a victim inside the room it covers. It closes with a cold strike. Even the music changes when it closes for the first time. It’s a perfect transition from the tension in the first act to the dread that permeates the second. It’s an excellent scene in a movie full of them. Also, shout out to the closing door at the end of The Godfather which I could also write a film school entrance essay about lol.
i had a deep paranoia at like 15 that if i opened my bedroom door to a dark hallway there would be a massive 7 foot jesus behind it looking down at me with no eyes. imagine how relieved i was to learn jesus was actually probably around 5'7.
I started watching your channel on the last video about there will be blood. I enjoy these videos a lot. Thank you for not closing the door on all of us at the end of the video after a monologue about what doors are.
Your keen eye for detail and seamless interweaving of allusions and obviously important scenes to make your points perfectly sassy make for a monologue I couldn’t get tired of. On the off chance you’re considering proposals from internet strangers, I am in possession of a real life pocket dictionary I’d like to donate to your channel. I think you’d make use of it. All at the low low cost of letting me listen to you deep dive on sociocultural influences in an ever modernizing era of cinematography. It’s impressive.
imho the best door in Jurassic Park is clearly the one the raptors learn how to open. But more importantly the best doors in cinema are in Pan’s Labyrinth, there’s so many good doors

Can’t wait for Cinema’s Greatest Windows

Not me googling A24 shop to see if they have the tragic carpet from Aftersun
probably my favorite defense of reading into little details in movies is "YOU THINK ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE CREDITS ARE JUST BOTS????"
May I also suggest:
The huge double doors that Aragorn pushes open in The Two Towers.
