I've played both now: Amnesia TDD is more atmosphere-scary and Outlast is about the same level or paranoia (when being chased) but has more predictable enemies yet WAY more and more effective jumpscares... I seriously love both, but it's a matter of taste really... This is more ''typical horror'' pretty nicely executed and Amnesia is just... well... weird and really atmospheric. Can't wait to start Amnesia A machine For Pigs after I've finished Outlast first :D
the Exclusives I've gotten so far - Little big planet 2, God of War, red dead redemption (not exclusive but not available for PC) soon to be Destiny (same reason as red dead redemption) the entire ratchet and clank series (future, and Hd bundle) drakes fortune 1-3, Infamous, Sly cooper HD collection, First 3 crash bandicoot games, Jak and Dexter Collection, and finally, the last of us. All of these games are just amazing, and ps3 exclusives, only reason why i bought a ps3 lol
Yeah you are definitely right on that, and if you want a gaming rig thats guaranteed to run any new title, I believe you might be able to go for just a little bit cheaper, but yeah its definitely worth it, I own a ps3 and a xbox, but dumped the xbox due to live costs, and lack of good exclusives, I only use my ps3 for the exclusives (god of war, ratchet and clank, The last of us, etc) while i use my custom built PC for everything else, it really is worth it, games just look beautiful. Real Art.

That room that he stands on the ledge in actually exists in the game. It's the one where fatty rips the guys head off. Most everything that happens can happen in the game, aside from the fact that the enemies can burst through terrain (aside from doors).

Hey! Amnesia is amazing too. I don't think this game will last as long as amnesia. The story of amnesia was so good and so emotional it was hard to beleive it was a horror game (and a very good one). Penumbra (Created by the same guys as Amnesia) were the first ones to introduce the first person survival horror, where you couldn't fight...but run. Also what i dont like (for now) in the game is how soon you see the monsters. It took forever in amnesia, but when they show up you wish they hadn't
While it isn't exactly what the trailer had in mind, the final product is still an amazing experience that rivals that of the original Amnesia and definitely the sequel! Red Barrels needs to do more amazing games like this!
It might be because I was first introduced to horror by Silent Hill. I need horror to be more abstract and psychological. Besides, this game seems to do things others have done before, most notably Amnesia.
This was the first game for me that I played trough while livestreaming it and uploading all of the scare parts and full parts on youtube... I must say, this was ONE FRIGGIN scary game, at some points I just flipped my mouse all over the desk and what not.. I havent been so scared EVER in my life lol.. even Slenderman with Oculus Rift wasnt that scary.. if they ever implement Oculus Rift in the game.. well I hope then you dont have heart problems lol, cause this CAN kill you.
Of course there 1st person view REs, haven't you heard of Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles, RE Survivor? There's also Silent Hill: Orphan. Rise of Nightmares is a survival horror game with 1st person view. Besides MGS camera would kill the atmosphere, it's an action/infiltration oriented camera. So I guess you are wrong on this one.

I started with Outlast... AMFP is different from The Dark Descent though, way more story, less game mechanics and less puzzles. Strange choice, but it's still really nice.
For me it is because of the lighting. There are way too many lights and the enemies even have a light skin tone that just doesn't seem scary. And every scare in this video I pretty much predicted too. Also, just a random addition: If I made a game like this on a console, I would add small vibrations that come at you in dark rooms, perhaps from an enemy touching you and running away. Idk how to implement it but that would scare the hell out of me.

Consoles are pretty much built for instant game play with moderate frame-rate and textures. I have a $400 laptop and I can run the latest games today with normal graphic settings. You're basically spending the same amount for a PC while getting better quality yet..
Outlast is my all-time #1 favorite game, along with Bully: Scholarship Edition, but I don't understand. Why does this game seem so much more, "Parkour- ish and better graphics-ish, and more jumpscare-ish"? Why a whole new place we've never seen before in the original game and not the alpha/demo?

Just finished Amnesia: A machine for pigs. What a beautiful game :) I actually enjoy getting scared because I fully immerse myself into the story, you should try it too and you'll get scared.
Clearly the Amnesia model has caught on - the idea of being unable to defend yourself, only hide. I think Euthanasia is another good game by an indie dev, although last I heard it still had a few glitches now and then. Still, this looks pretty good and the graphics appear good.
I can see what this guy is saying somewhat? Maybe. Maybe he's saying he misses how survival horrors used to be when they were 3rd person. I wouldn't say Resident Evil 1-Nemesis was remotely scary. But there is one survival horror that I love though and that's Fatal Frame. That game is terrifying compared to the new games that been released out on console that I am aware of. Still have not played a game that keeps me on edge with fear.
